As you know, Deadline’s TV Editor Nellie Andreeva is still traveling… Broadcasting & Cable is reporting that TBS’ Lopez Tonight is shaking up its producing ranks. “Leaving the show are executive producers Mike Gibbons and Jim Paratore, and sources say that coming in as executive producer will be Robert Morton… Gibbons’ option for a second year with the show was not picked up by the show.” Morton is the longtime producer and Letterman alum who has worked on several shows, including those starring Wayne Brady, Carlos Mencia and David Alan Grier. Paratore has launched several shows including TMZ and Bonnie Hunt and then, once they are up and running, moves on to new projects. Gibbons credits include creator and executive producer of Comedy Central’s Tosh.O, and executive producer of Talk Show With Spike Feresten on Fox as well as The Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn and The Showbiz Show With David Spade. The shuffle comes as Lopez Tonight moves back one hour to make way for the launch of Conan O’Brien’s new TBS show at 11 PM.

Gibbons is a great writer and producer who had his hands tied on that show. Better for him to get off that sinking ship and go create the next Tosh.0.
Smart move by TBS. Mike Gibbons is a talentless hack.
…and mike gibbons and jim paratore breathe a huge sigh of relief that their obituaries won’t list Lopez Tonight as some of their last credits on earth.
Robert MORTY Morton?!? What a tired, stale old idea.
Lopez needs younger more original people to showcase him
Plus Morty always bad mouths all the talent the works with
all over town.
The writing is on the wall for Lopez. Gibbons is a very talented producer, but what can he do? There’s a new guy in town and his name is Conan. 2 Late Night talk shows on TBS? Me thinks not.
You’re right. Two talk shows a night will not work. Except on CBS, NBC (three) and PBS. Other than those three, it will never fly. Oh, Comedy Central has two fake news shows back to back. Again, won’t work.
Keep to building, Bob.
Wow! There was a time when Robert Morton mattered.
Thank you.
Bye Bye Gibbons….how that guy gets work is amazing. Morty might be tired and stale but he has something that too often gets overlooked……EXPERIENCE.
How does Gibbons get work? for one, he created CC’s new huge hit Tosh 1.0. Web Redemption and much of the show was his idea. Maybe that is why.
Thanks for your comments – but that was not me commenting of my friend Mike Gibbons. It was an imposter – I know it’s free speech so my guess is it was Dr. Laura.
Morty is a pro and knows this kind of show better than anyone. Lopez is lucky to have him.
how long before the show is canceled
