EXCLUSIVE: Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver are in talks to board The Cold Light of Day, the thriller that Summit Entertainment and Intrepid Pictures are co-financing. Shooting begins September 6 in Spain. Mabrouk El Mekchri (JCVD) is directing and Henry Cavill plays a young American whose family is kidnapped on vacation in Spain. He’s got hours to find them, and unravels a government conspiracy. Willis is near a deal to play his father, who has secrets of his own. Weaver is in talks to play the villainess, a role that was originally written for a male actor. Cavill, best known for Showtime’s The Tudors, stars as the Greek warrior Theseus in the Tarsem Singh-directed
The film’s produced by Intrepid’s Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans, with Kevin Mann, Matthew Perniciaro and Scott Wiper exec producing with Jesus Martinez.
Also involved as executive producer is Film Rites’ Steve Zaillian and Garrett Basch. The script was first written by Scott Wiper and John Petro, and Film Rites drafted novelist/screenwriter Richard Price to write the most recent draft. Summit will distribute domestically and represent foreign territories.

The plot sounds a little TIRED but I’ll watch it just to see Sigourney do the badass routine well demonstrated in one of Hollywood’s most underrated actresses.
Sounds like the movie “Target” with Gene Hackman.
Is this a remake of the 1995 film of the same title?
No, this is an original. Just appears to have the same name.
Ripley and McClain, very niiice.
Bruce Willis, Ms. Weaver? I smell brill cream and DVD racks…
Nice would have been of you had spelled McClane correctly you moron. This movie is going to be terrible.
Someone has a case of the Mondays!
I’m sure it’s gonna be an amazing movie!! the filmmaker is incredible!
I really liked this movie back when it was called “The Man Who Knew Too Much.” This movie will most assuredly be a pale imitation of that great film.
Hollywood needs to stop the shameless plagiarism and ripping off and copying from this man. There was, and will forever be, only one Hitchcock.
And the Euro-pandering is getting tiresome. Yes, I know the tax incentives are nice and trying to boost b.o. potential on the continent is nice, but c’mon. It’s getting old. There are other places you can set movies…
Since when does shooting in Spain offer great incentives, or boost any box office returns (they’re one of the worst English language product territories in Europe).
Weaver and Willis? I am so there, what an awesome pair for a thriller. And when will the Academy finally give Weaver an Oscar already? Bullock has one, why not Weaver? Death and the Maiden, Prayers for Bobbie (tv) even the Emmy’s snubbed her. A thriller won’t get her an Oscar, but please someone give her a juicy dramatic role for the big screen!
Ripley Rules!
If you’re going to blast a poster for spelling, you ought to make sure own post is squeaky-clean, moron.
This script is tired and has a stupid twist that you won’t be too surprised when you see it. Definitely think this will get dumped once it’s shot — there are so many better thrillers out there.
Sigourney Weaver, I will go to the movies to see her anytime!
I’m not remotley interested in Bruce Willis any more but Sigourney playing the villain sounds ACE. That woman is a total legend.
Henry Cavill is ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MEN IN HOLLYWOOD. Sigourney is AWESOMENESS.
Willis is just BLAH.
Probable success of this movie = HIGH
Willis is the typical tired old guy who doesn’t know when to quit. He should start taking more realistic roles for his age because no one is buying it when he plays the robust young hero anymore. At least he’s just playing the dad in this movie. Thank God.
But Signourney oozes talent and still looks very lovely without trying to over do it. And Henry has a surprisingly large female following because of his role in the hit cable show ‘The Tudors’. And now that he’s making a blockbuster movie with Frieda Pinto and Kellan Lutz he’s sure to gain even more fans.
As an Englishman living in Moraira(where shooting is taking place today) I object to that narrow minded comment! Certainly in this part of Spain the majority of people speak English.
I love Sigourney Weaver cant wait for the movie
I’ve had an unholy fascination with madame Weaver for 20+ years
