Here’s my 2nd spoiler about Sunday night’s Emmys broadcast and it’s a juicy one: According to my source inside the Nokia Theatre today, the big opening number features host Jimmy Fallon coming out alone with an electric guitar and singing/playing “Born to Run.” Then he is joined by Randy Jackson from American Idol on bass. Then by a dance troupe consisting of Mad Men‘s Jon Hamm, 30 Rock‘s Tina Fey, Community/Talk Soup‘s Joel McHale, and Glee‘s Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch. (There’s also a very buxom blonde whom my source couldn’t ID.) Robin Antin, creator of the Pussycat Dolls, was choreographing. ”I left at 5 PM. I think it’s going to take a lot more time to whip the number into shape,” my insider predicted.

With Robin Antin choreographing it’s sure to be spectacular. She’s the best there is.
Geez, this is getting worse and worse. What’s left – Snookie sitting on stage and pounding a shot every time somebody says the word “television?”
At the rate they’re going, the unidentified “very buxom blonde” can ONLY be HEIDI MONTAG. Good lord.
“very buxom blonde”…lady gaga or dame edna?
That sounds terrible.
Lorne Michael’s stranglehold on NBC has got to end one day. Seriously, Jimmy Fallon is just awful.
I know that this is THERE night not ours, but they really seem to be over doing it to get US to watch. If they really want me to look forward to this then shorten it, get rid of the lame jokes the presenters are given. Turn it back into an award show, get rid of the variety show format. Let the stars enjoy the evening instead of have to work during it.
There?
LOL! I think you mean “their”.
hahahahhahaha! I noticed that too and I got a double laugh out of your “name”
Too bad JoelMcHale is in that lineup—he’s real talent and he’ll be pissing it away on a song and dance number at the Emmy’s.
This can only be lame. An actor/actress should only be willing to participate in a pathetic awards song and dance routine if it’s on the Oscars, performing for a global audience (and even then maybe not). Too bad Jon Hamm just dimmed his rising star-ness. His people should have known better.
This sounds awful, but if Tina Fey is involved, I tend to think (hope?) that it might surprise us and turn out to be funny. I don’t see her as someone who would stand for being forced into some kind of embarrassing song and dance fiasco.
The blonde is Kate Gosselin. I heard it from various sources. Jsyk
Not sure what people are on about–the “song & dance” numbers have been the shortcut into getting rave reviews about awards show hosting performances (see Hugh Jackman and NPH). Why wouldn’t they try it here?
And as for scaling back the variety show aspect, why? That’s what people want. For a pure awards show, you can check out the results online. People want to be entertained. Look at the Grammys–they’ve really gone out in providing a TON of live music (from a wide array of mainstream acts) in recent years, and interest is coming back (even as interest in the actual MUSIC up for awards has wavered).
The “Blonde” was Kate Goslin
Watching it now… Fallon is stepping on his dork. Too bad… He seems like a nice kid.
SNL alums should stick to SNL, evidintly.
