Entertainment Tonight veteran Brad Bessey has been named executive producer of The Talk, CBS’s upcoming daytime talk show that will examine topical events through the eyes of six mothers, co-hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini and Marissa Jaret Winokur. The show will air weekdays in the 2-3 PM time period, beginning in October. ”Daytime television is about to get more dynamic with six incredible, outspoken mothers who are not afraid to keep it real,” said Bessey, who will report to Barbara Bloom, SVP daytime, CBS Entertainment. Bessey has been at ET for the past 15 years, rising to co-executive producer, a position he has held since 2005. He will executive produce The Talk alongside creator Gilbert and John Redmann.

I like Brad..but this show is going to be a disaster…I’ve worked on daytime shows with women and six women in the makeup room is going to be a nightmare. Yes, I am a woman and not being sexist…it’s just the way it is.
Seriously?! Julie Chen has been married to Les Moonves for awhile. Holly Robinson has been earning bucks since 21 Jump Street. Leah Remini has been working steadily since the early 90′s when she was on ‘Saved by the Bell.’ Sharon Osbourne has been rolling in bucks since…like the 70′s?! Sara Gilbert’s been loaded since ‘Roseanne.’
What in the freaking world do any of these people know about “keeping it real?!!” This has got to be the biggest joke ever.
The problem with THE TALK is that none of those women are compelling or interesting; and don’t mention funny. I wouldn’t watch.
Couldn’t happen to a bigger clown. Speaking for those of us who propped him up for years, we wish him well! Between a has-been sitcom star, a never-been talk show dweeb, Bessey and Bloom, this one seems headed right for the cliff. And over. 13 weeks and out.
There has been a lot of buzz about this CBS pilot. This panel is far more dynamic than their “View” counterparts; however, I think the “mother” angle is weak and will eventually break. Once the show airs (and if it lasts), the mother focus will become irrelevant. I guess Daytime needs to step it up; Oprah is about to make her official exit.
Thought Tom Forman was exec producing, is he still on board?
Brad, here’s a question for you, why would anyone in their right mind want to leave the Taj Mahal to step foot on the Titanic? Is it too late to get your cushy Entertainment Tonight job back?
Brad,
you have back-stabbed & lied you way to this job – now they will see your true (non)talent
ps I thought you said Moonves was a little tyrant? ironic, you will be very close now.
This sounds dreadful!! Sounds like a sad, unimaginative clone of The View with, do a dare say, a less interesting panel of women?
Yeah, Bessey, what the bloody crap is wrong with you, man?! What, did you get bored at ET and left to produce this cheap knockoff of “The View”(I don’t watch that by the way). If anything this show should be produced for ,say with me y’all, syndication and not for CBS. It’s because of this that I’m mad at CBS now. Out of all the shows they rejected for this trash, they had to reject a revival of Pyramid. Dear God, what has this world come to? Tell me CBS, do you hate us game show fans? Sheesh. Good luck, Bradley, but five bucks says this show gets bad reviews and lousy ratings.
P.S. There was a show similar to The View that had males (that has nothing to do with this) but that was canceled after a few months. No offense, but please, man, expect that to happen.
