It may have lost at the Emmys where it was nominated for best drama series, but airing against the awards show on Sunday, HBO’s True Blood hit a new series high, drawing 5.4 million viewers. The vampire drama added another 1.2 million viewers with the 11:30 PM replay. Also on Sunday, HBO’s comedies Hung and Entourage averaged 2.5 million and 2.9 million viewers, respectively, with Entourage hitting a season high.

Ratings were high for TB. It was the 2nd to last episode for the series. Great show!
…for the SERIES?
This is odd, considering Sunday’s episode wasn’t great at all. Too much fantasy going on with True Blood now…..
I so agree. Episode 10 and 11 were both lacking compared to the rest of the season. They seem to be doing nothing but setting up for season 4 and using plot driven devices to get there that make no sense to what’s happened in the past seasons including this one.
I thought so as well. Denis O’Hare was of course the exception, Russell has turned out to be the best addition to TB since season 1.
“Too much fantasy” on a >vampire< show that features shapeshifters and demi-goddesses?
Uh, are you for real?
The whole show is a FANTASY!
No way would the world governments ever accept vampires so easily. The vampires on this show murder humans with no repercussions and have their own shadow government.
Really, do you think any same government would let these monsters suddenly gain full human rights while they know they're munching down on mom, dad, and the kids? Nope!
It's a fun show but it bears no relationship to reality.
I totally agree with you Nick. That fantasy comment was hysterical, especially when you are talking about a VAMPIRE show! Just sit back and enjoy it! Have fun! That is the whole point to watching shows like this. To escape reality!
I personally LOVE this season and I love how they do seem to be building towards the events of season 4
“Too much fantasy going on with True Blood now…..”
You do realize it’s a show about vampires and werewolves and witches and fairies right?
No he/she doesn’t realize that at all. They think TV is real!
Ha! Exactly my thoughts. This isn’t “The Sopranos” or “Californication,” though there’s quite a bit of fantasy in both of those shows, just different types of fantasies. I fully expect to see every conceivable fantastical creature on this show before it ends its run, which won’t bother me in the slightest or, if the surging ratings are any indication, many others as well.
Thank you!
Why is Entourage still on tv? I wouldn’t want to spend five minutes with Vince and the boyz in real life…”yo bro yo”. Move on HBO. Move on.
You shouldn’t care if its on or not cause you’re not watching.
You should read the Sookie Stackhouse books on which True Blood is based. I wonder if/when the Weretiger will show up.
And yeah, Entourage has run its course. Time to put these shallow boys out of their misery.
As an avid viewer of the show, I can understand how some people are having issues with the whole fairy/werewolf addition of the storyline. I agree that they have a point….I knew Sookie was “special” but i never thought…oh shes a fairy ?…I still love the show for the new directions its trying to take the story…My only REAL complaint is the year long wait between seasons.
In addition I was also a huge a fan of Smallville up until Season 6….So that should tell you just how far I am willing to go with a series until I cant take anymore stupid plotlines…
True blood is only getting better..
LINDSEY HAUN is amazing..
Great casting
My thoughts exactly on the fantasy point. This is a show about (mostly)mythical/supernatural beings. Seriously. My husband keeps saying “If it gets silly, I’m done.” Really? I mean how much sillier (theoretically speaking) could it get? IMO it is currently the best written/acted show on television. It follows the books just enough but puts a great spin on the ideas the author had. And I agree. Nine months between seasons is crazy! At least give us a 3 or 4 episode teaser in between seasons!
Yes, The cliff-hangers have started. I can’t wait until season 4; Dead to The World is one of my favorite books so looking forward to how Allen will put his spin on it!
