Yeah, um, so when did Bradley Whitford take one GIANT step back in his career? I mean this looks good and all but wow, no thanks. A really unnecessary endeavor this film is.
Do you mean Bradley Cooper? I hope so. And since there’s no info to give the trailer context, this movie was filmed in 2006 or 2007 and has been gathering dust since then. People who I know that have seen it say it’s decent, so I’m glad it’s finally hitting theaters here.
Hey Greg-
If you are going to make snarky comments about an actors career, you might at least want to get the guys name right. This is Bradley COOPER, not Bradley Whitford. Bradley Cooper starred in the A-Team, Wedding Crashers, and The Hangover. Bradley Whitford starred in Billy Madison, The West Wing, and The Good Guys.
This thing was shot back in 2006, which should tell you something. But heck, I’ll see it anyway. And the trailer does a pretty good job of not giving away the twist.
Didn’t understand this trailer – too dark to see what was going on.
Ahhh so now I know why this movie was delayed for so long…they needed to add more horror cliches….I mean “homage” scenes (ahem) than just the demonic dogs, insects, breathing doors, CGI morphing demons, murderous possessed kids, devil worship……
zzzzzZZZZZZzzzzz
CGI MORPHING DEMONS ARE NOT SCARY!!!!!SHEEEEESHHHH!!!!!!!
Sorry, I uh.. didn’t mean to yell, but it ain’t scary. nuff said.
finally. the trailer’s tight, so i hope this thing has aged well while it’s been, er, uh, waiting for the right moment to release. christian alvart’s been steadily honing his chops since then, so he’s definitely an intriguing one to watch.
How can a trailer be hot when the film is on the shelf for two years?
The Paramount Vantage motion logo should be updated to a film canister being removed from a dusty shelf, revealing the words “Paramount Vantage”.
Paramount Vintage?
Looks good. I like the children services intro to through you off. Good to see RZ in a thriller.
My sis and roommate claims to have seen “something” floating above them over their beds one night. Both saw, both screamed. They went to Providence College and lived in Aquinas Hall. Still swear by it.
That trailer was freaky! I gotta see this movie!
Dude, where have you been? This movie has been available for over a year online.
Okay, so add one part The Omen 1 – 4 / The Ring / Orphan / The Exorcist / Joshua / Amityville / The Unborn / and a dash of every Children of the Corn, put into a blender, and puree until fully predictable.
Saw it few years ago. Ok movie, I guess what you would expect from the genre. Of course, at the time I knew Bradley only from Jack and Bobby tv show. Interesting how things change. Makes you think about straight to video materials with young talent. Sometimes it pays to wait.
Since the release in Germany on March 11th 2010 only 43.000 tickets were sold (via FFA.de). Don´t expect a significant better result for this in the US.
This one has already been released on DVD in some parts of Europe – very strange if an American movie hits the theaters in the U.S. AFTER it’s already been released on DVD overseas.
It’s on the internet since last year ! And that’s absolutely awful !
Seen this. Godawful. Disappointing waste of time, talent and money. And it starts out so well too.
Bill O’Reilly is right! Single motherhood is reckless!
I read the script last year and it was tight! Very well written and dark. But when I got my hands on the UK DVD (it’s been released in theaters and DVD all over the world except for the US), the movie itself was horrible. It followed the script to a “t”, but the little girl was miscast; and the movie isn’t as dark as the trailer leads you to believe. Everything is very well lit in the movie, which ruined the tone of it, IMHO. And after reading the script, I was very execited to see the movie. Huge diappointment.
The trailer makes the movie look really good. But don’t be fooled. There’s a reason the movie was shelved for 3 years.
Why was my post deleted? All I said was ‘the trailer gives away too much, what’s wrong with a little mystery’?
So random.
I think it looks kind of fun. Welcome change to see Renee in a fun, scary movie and not some romcom or period piece. Also, it’s Bradley Cooper, not Whitford.
I guess it’s scary if you fade to black fifty times.
Bradley Whitford is not in this movie, nor was he in “Jack and Bobby.” Bradley Cooper is listed as being in this movie.
Terrible picture. Kid in the oven made me howl with laughter. OMEN meets EXORCIST in the hands of BORING writers and lame director. Did I mention that they REALLY burned down the set house?? idiots.
Okay, you people are just too cool for school. It scared me.
I remember my disappointment at the Filmfest last year. CASE 39 can’t measure up to the similarly themed ORPHAN.
Bradley Cooper has a small role. That’s one of the biggest mistakes this film makes, to cut his character out way too early. Zellweger is really good in this but can’t save the increasingly lame story.
They give away way too much way to early and then have nowhere to go, no story left to tell. The rules of this world are never clearly established, hello? Lazy, lazy writing. You can’t just pull special powers out of a hat whenever you’re out of ideas and then have your protag find a way out that doesn’t make any sense to the viewer. Oh, that works? Huh…
CASE 39 has a great set-up and some stunning visuals but then fails to deliver on the promise. Next time just make up your mind if you want to make a horror or not and stick with your decision. It can’t be that hard.
I am so tired of watching trailers that are simply a synopsis of the plot that basically tells you the whole story in 2 1/2 minutes. Where’s the hook to get you into the theater when they’ve already shown you the whole movie?
