LOS ANGELES – August 16, 2010 – David Madden has been named President of Fox Television Studios, it was announced today by Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen of Twentieth Century Fox Television, to whom Madden reports. Madden succeeds Emiliano Calemzuk who recently stepped down from his position.
Formerly EVP at FtvS, Madden has overseen Creative Development and Production at the studio, and has been responsible for an array of successful series, including the USA hits Burn Notice and White Collar, A&E’s The Glades, Saving Grace for TNT and the long-running, Emmy-winning The Shield for FX. He also oversees the new series The Good Guys for FOX, The Gates for ABC, Persons Unknown for NBC, Lights Outs for FX, as well as FX’s pilot (a co-production with FX Productions) Outlaw Country, and the recently announced The Killing for AMC. Madden said, “After 10 wonderful, complicated and interesting years at FtvS, I am deeply honored to be the company’s next president, and to be following in the footsteps of someone I admire as much as Emiliano Calemzuk. This may be the easiest transition in industry history, since I have such respect and fond feelings for all the people I work with. Our agenda going forward will be simple: to do more, to do it better, and even to be more profitable, while still taking some chances.”

What a great move on Fox’s part. David’s one of the nicest people I ever met out here. You’ll know that because most of the people who post comments about him will use their real names.
Madden is the best
This is well deserved as he has created one of the best divisions at Fox.
One of the kindest souls in a not-so-kind town. David is truly one of the best.
Madden is a dream to work with– supersmart, incredibly nice and genuinely collaborative. Nice to see one of the truly good guys in the biz get ahead.
should be interesting what he does for fox if nothing else maybe he will put an end to the network ever doing something like they did with doll house . maybe if fox picks up doll house type shows with him in charge they will let them have a chance. for once.
David is amazing and has done a fantastic job at ftvs. Very well deserved promotion and always good to see one of the good guys get his just reward!
It is soooo nice to finally see one of the truly good guys get what they absolutely deserve. Congratulations David and all of 20th Television Group in this brilliant decision.
By far, one of the nicest execs in town…I wish I could say he wasn’t a dying breed. So glad he’s getting the recognition he deserves.
After many decades as a writer, producer and director I can say that David Madden is the best executive in the business. Bravo.
There are no women with deals at Fox TV except the two that are married to their partners.
What does that say about this guy? It’s 1982 all over again.
Yay David!
David Madden is one of the true nice guys in the business. Congrats, David.
Madden was the exec on a film I made way back in ’94. He couldn’t have been kinder and more helpful to a first-time director. Score one for the good guys.
The nicest man in Hollywood. Always was.
Congratulations David!! Good things do come to good people.
Dear Sir, May I ask why anyone that speaks the truth on your network gets fired but the liars continue 24 hrs. a day? Seems kinda strange to the abnormals among the populace. Thank you for your time, Doug
Off Topic? Really? Fox Keeps Cancelling shows and making cartoons and reality shows for brain-dead America. I Know I speak for Hundreds of Thousands of folks when I say bring back the drama. Why Terra Nova was shot down was beyond me but somebody better get to writing the ending and put it in paperback. Bore You? FOX, as well as the other Networks are DUMBING DOWN AMERICA and personally is I see another person crying because “It’s Too Hard To Work Out Because I’m So Fat”, I’m going to go Amish.
