PREVIOUS: SyFy Nears ‘Eureka’ Renewal
Syfy is greenlighting its hit original dramedy Eureka for a 5th season, it was announced today by Mark Stern, EVP of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions, which produces the series.
Eureka seems like any other cozy, Pacific Northwest town, but is actually a secret community of geniuses assembled by the government to conduct top-secret research. What they’ve unwittingly created is a place where anything imaginable can happen… and does. Eureka stars Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Joe Morton, Erica Cerra, Neil Grayston, Niall Matter, James Callis and features Jordon Hinson. Co-creator Jaime Paglia and Bruce Miller are Executive Producers.
Since Eureka’s 4th season premiere on July 9, 2010, and with the most recent Live +7 data factored in, the show is averaging a 2.2 HH rating and more than 3 million total viewers per week (1,335 million Adults 18-49 and 1,531 million Adults 25-54).
In addition to great ratings, Eureka has also achieved new creative heights including: a time-altering storyline that has reset the series raising both the drama and stakes for the main characters; the addition of James Callis (Battlestar Galactica) as the new character ‘Dr. Charles Grant’; a first-ever crossover episode with Syfy’s Warehouse 13, a top-notch lineup of special guest stars including Ming-Na, Jaime Ray Newman, Ed Quinn, Wil Wheaton, Jamie Kennedy, Chris Parnell, Matt Frewer and Felicia Day; and a recently announced holiday episode slated to air in December.
“Eureka remains a steadfast performer for Syfy with its superb cast and perfect blend of drama, comedy and eye candy,” said Stern. Eureka airs Friday nights at 9:00PM ET/PT on Syfy.

Why do people like Mark Stern have their jobs for life at outlets like Syfy? Is this some aspect of cable channels that does not exist at networks?
Eureka is a great show, but man is Syfy in a creative rut with their programming…
You failed to mention that in Richardson-Whitfield, Morton and Cerra, Eureka has one of the most diverse regular cast line-ups in primetime. Now if we could only get an LGBT member to join the community all would be truly remarkable!
Well, they do don’t they? The town chef.
Yay for Diversity!!!!
I’m sure the true way to tell a show is quality is based on its political correctness. That is definitely the primary reason I watch it; it just makes me feel so righteous.
No one is interested in your self-serving agenda driven comments here, the show is good because it has none of the individuals from any of those groups you mention, to add any would only be to cater to people like you and your political correctness, and would succeed in destroying a good show. If you personally need to see people like that there is plenty of them on other shows, watch those instead, and stop trying to ruin good shows by spreading your beliefs on other people.
Excellent news. A fun show that’s had a great season so far, creatively. Great fun to watch.
Hurray! Now they just need to get Ed Quinn back.
Show has not been the same since he left.

They are. I believe he is in an upcoming episode called Ex-Files
This is a great show, and naturally, as is the case with all great shows, it has a great cast. (I would love to see some clips of Colin Ferguson when he was with Second City, or of him doing improv.)
I have watched this show from the very first season and I love Colin Ferguson in it. His comedic timing is so good, I agree I would have loved to have seen him in Second City.
How does Vancouver manage to do it, as there have been so many good highly-rated TV series renewed over the years in the province, from “BSG” to “Stargate”, “Supernatural” and “Smallville” (10 years), with the support of professional crews and working Canadian TV actors.
While the Canadian actor unions scream for more “Canadian stories” work, marching, protesting and generally disrupting businesses, as if they were organized by paid Chinese government agents looking to control the media, British Columbia quietly delivers the goods…
Felicia Day-Guildmaster!!! For the win!!! Can’t wait to see the new season!
Colin is the new James Garner. Deft in delivery and sex appeal. Bravo!
I love this show. Great cast, fun and no swearing or preaching at me or politics. I am a big Dr Who fan, and this has some of the same fun vibe going. (Though they are very different shows).
I just discovered this show on netflix of all places! I have now watched the entire 4 seasons. TV viewership is not like it used to be. The mainstream channels are dinosaurs and do not hold the public in their grip anymore. Thank goodness.
Eureka is my favorite show I dont have cable so I have to look at it on internet is or buy the season, is the show ever coming to regular tv.. Please advise
Ok like everyone else i’m happy that they are renewing the show for another season, but seriously aren’t we getting a little a head of ourselves. Here is my beef, the network comes out and says “yeah we’re gonna make another season hurray for us”, The fans say “awesome love to hear it” but this fan is wondering if the show is so popular then how come its taking so FRICKEN long to finish this season. I mean really what is the point of announcing a season 5 and then stop making episodes for season 4. What the #*@% man.
When does season 5 start? I can’t wait!
OK ,Eureka’s been picked up for another season . Great ! Now ,just when does the new season start ?
I’m thrilled that Eureka has been granted another season but when will this new season start?
Well, normally dvd sets come out right before a new season starts. Over at Amazon, the dvd set for season 4 is being released on June 21st, so look for season 5 July-August. Season 4 started in June of last year, perhaps it will mirror and start in June this year. And with Grant back in the past, we may return to the original time line?
Grant didn’t go back into the past, did he? I thought (through the magic of Zane) they gave him a new identity (so the powers that be won’t discover he’s from the past?) and then shipped him off to an undisclosed location — using money he got from holding shares of Johnson & Johnson that future self told him to get back when he was originally in the past? (Can you tell I have no life?)
I am so excited! I would have cried so hard if they cancelled the series. I can’t wait to see whats coming up in the series!
ive heard through the grapevine that season five should be starting some time this month
I am very happy Eureka has been picked up for another season. I’m curious about Jo and Zane to see where their relationship goes to. Since he knows now about his grandmother’s engagement ring when Jo threw it back at him.
Figures like that shouldnt mean they cancel the show after next season. They have a great following…. Not to mention how often this channel comes up with INCREDIBLY good shows only to end up killing them in the middle of an intense cliffhanger or making massive mistakes like replacing the entire cast but keeping them the same character(remember the once great sliders?) These guys need to get thier crud together!
I too fell upon this wonderfully diverse and entertaining show with no cussing or major vices. Very refreshing and I have just now watched all 4 seasons. Thank you, thank you there is a season 5. When, When WHEN????? Need more shows like this. Wholesome!
