Jamie Foxx has partnered with Deon Taylor to form No Brainer Films, a shingle that will generate films and TV series at under $10 million. The projects will be financed by Robert Smith, founder and managing principal of the private equity firm Vista Equity Partners.
The venture hatched after Foxx and Taylor co-wrote and co-directed the TV series Tommy’s Little Girl, a mob drama that stars Selma Blair, Paul Sorvino, Tony Sirico and James Russo. Foxx continues to partner in Foxx-King Entertainment while Taylor continues to run Deon Taylor Enterprises. Taylor has written, directed and produced the upcoming horror thriller Chain Letter.
Foxx, meanwhile, will next be seen reuniting with his The Soloist costar Robert Downey Jr. in the Todd Phillips-directed Warner Bros film Due Date. Downey stars in that film with Zach Galifianakis but Foxx plays a pivotal part in the road comedy.

I wonder what Howard Stern will have to say about this…
No big deal. Some equity guys rented a passport face to open their doors. Foxx is teflon, none of the mini flops will rub off on him.
Dukey,
He will be impressed. Because finally a couple of brothers with some dough and balls(other than Tyler) are putting together a funding entity to serve a woefully under served segment of Americans. Not just People of color, but white people too. Adults are growing weary of this insane teen slate of witches, vampires, and Comic book flicks( I must admit, fan of Miley though).
People who want to see projects that are not the run of the mill, vanilla crap that Hollywood continues to produce have to really seek out Adult fare.
Hats off to them. Oprah and Bob johnson should have put something like this together years ago.
Bob Johnson has “Our Stories Films” that Tracey Edmonds runs. I mean it’s not much, but it is something.
Agree 100%. I think this team should generate some great content.
Don’t know if Howard Stern ever has anything nice to say, but I’m definitely stoked! Also, very curious to see what these two great minds can accomplish with only 10 million going toward every project. Some of the great movies of the decade have been very cheap to finance (Paranormal Activity, Saw) and if anyone can pull it off again, it’s these guys.
Really? Only 10 million. If you can’t make good stuff for 10 million you don’t belong in this industry. Useless comment.
This is great. I look forward to what they do.
Yeah, sure. We’ll see what Jamie can get green-lit. We’ll see more low-budget coon shows like Tyler Perry flicks and “Lottery Ticket.” Watch and see.
I think this partnership with Deon Taylor will be a success. Jamie always succeeds in everything he does anyway. I can’t wait to see Tommy’s Little Girl on TV. I think it’s going to be a hit show! I’m excited!
We should video chat. I’d like to see your white pointed hat!
