With Boardwalk Empire things are going to be getting better. It was reported that the international rights to Boardwalk Empire has been to sold to 160 countries based on the unfinished cut of the pilot that Martin Scorsese shot.
Nikki or any other journalist who reads this post– would someone please do a report on the heinous things Bewkes is doing to his employees benefits? The media loves him but my girlfriend is a longtime employee and they call him a villain in the halls. Pension frozen and phased out, our medical plans costs us thousands more each year, contract renegotiations have new caps and restrictions. It’s grim!
I saw this piece yesterday and the money honey interviewing him asked about job cuts and he said basically ‘we’ve cut no jobs but we have saved money by cutting down expenses.’ So I guess, based on TWinLA’s comments, THAT’S how they’ve been saving on expenses. Aren’t we now in an economic climate where ‘any job is a good job?’ Make no doubt about it, TW (et al) will claim poverty at the upcoming union negotiations.
I have several friends that got laid off from Warners, so that’s total bullshit. To say “Aren’t we now in an economic climate where ‘any job is a good job?” as though that kind of thinking is ok is also bullshit. Do you see any of the senior execs or CEOs operating with that same mentality? Of course not! Corporate America, studios included, have a Marie Antoinette mentality and you can where that got her.
@TWinLA yeah I feel so bad that Jeff said no more contributions for employees with 30 YEARS OF SERVICE! Sorry no more free rides for the TW lifers….
Pension plan is being frozen (no further contributions) and then eliminated entirely as a benefit for ALL employees so anonymous is anonymously talking out his ass, as such anonymous posters often do.
Hopefully SAG and AFTRA negotiators are taking note…..
