EXCLUSIVE: Megan Boone has joined the cast of NBC’s new drama series Law & Order: Los Angeles as a regular. She will play a new DDA, tentatively named Lauren Gardner. Originally there was supposed to be one DDA on the series. But when the ADA duties were split in two after Alfred Molina and Terrence Howard signed on to play different ADAs each appearing in roughly half of the episodes, each of them needed his own assistant, thus the need for two DDAs on the show. Regina Hall was recently cast as DDA Eva Price, who assists Molina. Boone will be Howard’s DDA. Also co-starring on the Wolf Films/UMS series are Skeet Ulrich, Corey Stoll and Wanda De Jesus. Boone, repped by Gersh and D/F, most recently played the lead on the CW pilot HMS. That pilot is not dead yet but the actors’ options have expired.
Meanwhile, earlier today ABC announced that Jane Badler, who starred on the original V mini-series, will join the cast of ABC’s V remake as a recurring, playing Diana, mother to Vs leader Anna (Morena Baccarin). Badler will make her debut in the Season 2 premiere.

Does that mean HMS is officially dead now? Does the CW even have any other shows in development for midseason?
No and no. How many more great cast members will they lose before it’s too late?
HMS is NOT dead. Several of the actors are on a paid hold. The show is not dead yet. Megan chose not to extend her hold while several of the cast did.
megan is awesome! this is great!
can’t wait to see meghan on screen again.
Wondering when they’d get around to casting the hot white chick …
HMS has been dead. CW missed the boat there.
Actually this isn’t true. Several of the HSM cast members contracts were recently extended. Megan chose not to extend. But her accepting a new show will not ultimately affect the future of HMS as cast members were put on a paid hold even with Megan no longer attached.
at least some law and order is better then none even if its a new version. as for v even though the original really did not need a remake. cool that the new version will have one of the actresses not to mention the lovly lady whose role Anna can only wish to be as nasty on board. as Anna mother. wonder if this means the new version is now deciding that its hooked up to the original version for could Dinah for the new series be the same Dinah from the original. one new reason to try and watch v
No, it doesn’t sound like it will have anything to do with the original series. It does sound like they’ve basically transplanted the Diana character into the new series and just gave her a new history. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her written the same and Badler playing her the same.
I still don’t find the show that appealing, though I might check out the season premiere for this.
HMS is not dead yet. They’d have to recast Megas Boone. Shows you exactly what quality they’ve managed to pass up so far.
And Steven Strait…and the rest of the cast. You’re right…definitely not dead.
JANE BADLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My dream date of the 80s. Come to my planet you saucy alien maid and you don’t have to come in peace (well, not always) and dominate me in that tight black alien skinsuit….
er, well, Kudos to ABC. What a brilliant casting idea.
I’m…. suddenly preoccupied………….
Yes, a very good idea. If they can somehow get Marc Singer in the mix. Maybe play the FBI agents father or something.
This is why I stopped watching L&O years ago: Bad Casting
When all of the Deputy District Attorneys start falling off the mid-twenties model truck, you know you’re in some exec’s wet dream.
No offense to Megan Boone. I’m sure she’s a fine talent. But c’mon, guys. If you cast it right, more viewers buy into the stories.
No one wants to watch Heidi Montag play a part intended for Edie Falco. Although I do enjoy watching ex-rappers play detective…
Jane Badler – the hottest alien ever to crash the earth.
I agree about Marc Singer. The priest character has a Singer-kinda look about him; maybe Marc could play his father.
See? I’m a casting director now. Cool.
Obvious question: WHAT exactly is CW waiting for? Either you want the show, or you don’t. They’ve had over half-a-year to look at it, debate it, scrutinize it…and…what, are they just incapable of making a decision?
I’ll tell you, I have some big reservations about Hellcats. This could be a mammoth flop, and then what? Good execs always have a Plan B ready, but this group can’t seem to poop…just sit on the pot.
i hate to say it,but i give this new L&O a season at the most.
bring back criminal intent.
Megan is not only a great actor but a well educated woman. Can’t go wrong with that kind of background !
