EXCLUSIVE: This a title that would certainly score big with the Comic-Con crowd. NBC has closed a deal for Zombies vs. Vampires, a spec script by Jake in Progress creator/executive producer Austin Winsberg. I hear NBC bought preemptively the project, produced by Warner Bros. TV and McG’s studio-based Wonderland production banner. Zombies vs. Vampires is described as a “fun buddy cop procedural.” It is set in a world where zombies are a part of society, controllable with medication. The show’s two leads (one secretly a vampire) are cops assigned to a squad specifically formed to deal with “zombie crime”. Winsberg, McG and Peter Johnson are executive producing.
On the feature side, Winsberg, repped by UTA and Underground, recently sold a pitch to Warner Bros. for an animated feature about a peacock, which he is co-writing with Heath Corson. Wonderland is with WME.

That sounds absolutely nauseating (I know you are just the messenger). Didn’t they already do a Zomb vs. Vamp film which was a major FAIL?
I will watch anything Mc G makes he’s freakin great!
So NBC cancels Law & Order one of the best and longest running shows to bring on this shit fest, and all the other shit fests they’ve showed previews for?
I guess the only thing that NBC will get my viewership from is Law & Order: Las Vegas, and I’ve got a good feeling they’ll cluster fuck that as well with Lindsey Lohan, Mel Gibson type crimes.
NBC you used to be a contender!
Oh yeah Leno Sucks
Idiots…
Bring on The Walking Dead AMC!
But what’s it about? I can’t tell. The title’s a little too vague.
What a joke! won’t last.
How about – watch the expletives????
Why Hollywood is bothering with hack concepts like this instead of adapting the 2006 graphic novel LAST BLOOD, which presents a universe where the mixing of zombies and vampires make totally organic sense and actually creates the story and conflict in itself, I cannot fathom.
NBC just passed on this. Thought the idea was interesting so I read, but the script did not work on any level. Simply bad writing which is a shame. Maybe NBC can redevelop next year with someone with more skills.
Agree with ZombieFan. I made a note to read this one. Total stinker. Maybe getting David Fury or a Buffy writer to redo would be a good idea. Not sure why you’d get the Jake in Progress writer to do an idea like this. Although that show was supposed to be a comedy and it literally had NO jokes…
Um….How about this idea a super hero vs vampires vs zombies. IT WILL BE A FREE FOR ALL!!!
Read the script off boss’ desk. Ugh. Awful writing. Understand why NBC passed but don’t get why they bought it in the first place.
Maybe Pirates vs. Ninjas will be next – that would be awesome!
Just finished the stack of pilots picked up and passed on. This was among the worst of the bunch writing wise, a let down after the announcement here on DHD which got me excited. Concept was strong but writer completely lacks the skills to pull it off. Why do networks continue to buy specs with such terrible writing? Can someone explain it to me?
I agree about the zombie overkill! I’ve loved zombie movies since I was kid! And now it’s a fad! I’m insulted! I bet most of these people havent even seen the original NOTLD!
