Lionsgate TV is making a return to broadcast TV ‘s primetime this fall with the new Fox comedy series Running Wilde, which it took over at the pilot stage. Now the company is staying active in network development with another broadcast project, 87th Precinct, which has received a script order at NBC. The drama, a character-based cop show, hails from Steve Buscemi and Stanley Tucci’s Lionsgate TV-based Olive Prods. State of Mind creator Amy Bloom is writing the script and is executive producing with Buscemi and Tucci.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Let’s not forget ED McBAIN (Evan Hunter), creator of the 87th Precinct novels, whose books have been the basis for many movies including one of Kurosawa’s best, and a variety of TV movies, series, graphic novels, etc.
Steve Buscemi is a great choice for Boardwalk Empire. However, how is he going to do that show while producing this one?
87th? This must be based on Ed McBains characters. Who will play Steve Carella?
I guess NBC loves burning money. They had an outstanding cop show in Southland prior to the Leno / Conan debacle.
Southland is fantastic, but it was never gonna fit on NBC… it screamed cable from start to finish. Luckily TNT (?) picked it up.
isn’t the 87th precinct series from the mind of novelist ed mcbain (evan hunter)?…a few subpar projects have been generated from the source books over the years…perhaps buscemi and tucci will produce something worthwhile…of course, the title might simply be a coincidence…
Actually the project hails from the long-running series of over 50 novels by Ed McBain!
There was a short-lived version of “87th Precinct” from 1961-62, if I recall. And get this… Norman Fell, “Mr. Roper” of Three’s Company, played Officer Meyer Meyer.
