USA Network’s hot freshman series Covert Affairs has been renewed for a second season a month into its run. The news comes on the heels of the spy drama hitting series highs across the board on Tuesday, including total viewers (5.4 million, up 4% from last week), adults 18-49 (2.3 million, up 15%) The number of episodes has not been determined yet but is expected to be in the 13-16 range.
The series starring Piper Perabo has been growing consistently since its July 13 premiere, which drew 4.9 million viewers, 2.104 million of them in the adults 18-49, making Covert Affairs the highest-rated scripted cable premiere this year in the key demographic. It has remained the No.1 cable series of the year among 18-49 (2.52 million).
Covert Affairs is the second hot cable freshman this summer to get a quick renewal, following the recent pickup of TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles. It also continues USA’s streak of renewing its first-year series. Last year, both USA freshman series, Royal Pains and White Collar, were picked up. One of them, White Collar, was used as a lead-in to launch Covert Affairs this summer.
Covert Affairs is produced by Universal Cable Prods. and executive produced by Doug Liman and Dave Bartis through Dutch Oven and written and co-executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord. James Parriott serves as executive producer with Jonathan Glassner as co-executive producer. Co-starring opposite Perabo are Christopher Gorham, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Peter Gallagher, Kari Matchett and Anne Dudek.

Love the show and the actors especially Christopher Gorham. He is such a stud!!! The show is exciting and intriuging. Cant wait until the second season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally I love this show. I hate when people only watch the first six or 7 minutes, ten or 20 minutes to anyone who asks, then say that a show is complete crap. I think Piper is great in this show, and I want to keep seeing Annie kick “men that are bigger than her” ass. Personally, I like this show as much, if not more than anything else on TV. I couldn’t stand White Collar (and I usually tune into a show if there are attractive characters, that’s actually what interests me even before i’ve heard the plot), and I think Psych sucks. Then again, we’re all entitled to our opinions; I just wish some people would stick by the old adage that was told to us all growing up; “If you don’t have anything nice to say about something….” Stop commenting on a show you think is lame, just because you feel like being an asshole.
VERY ENJOYABLE SHOW,,,,,,,,LOVE IT
I forced myself to watch the first few episodes of this show. I’ll admit, the first episode was pretty decent. However, the show soon began to get stale. I was unable to keep myself interested in it. I guess it’s a case of different strokes for different folks.
Christopher Gorham is one the best characters on TV. Piper Perabo would not be my first choice, but she’ll do. Peter Gallagher’s part could be better played by several other actors. The married couple stretches credibility & should changed be ASAP.
VERY ENJOYABLE SHOW,,,,,,,,LOVE IT
