Freddy Rodriguez who headlines CBS’ midseason drama series Chaos, has signed with UTA for representation. This marks the actor’s return to UTA after being repped by ICM for the past 3 years. On Tom Spezialy/Brett Ratner’s Chaos, Rodriguez plays agent Rick Martinez, the leader of a group of rogue CIA operatives. The project received a midseason series order by CBS last month after negotiations between the network and 20th TV had broken off and the options on the actors had expired. UTA also recently signed Chaos co-star James Murray. Rodriguez’s previous TV credits include a role on Six Feet Under, which earned him an Emmy nomination, and a stint on Ugly Betty. His feature credits include Lady in the Water, Poseidon and Grindhouse. Rodriguez will continue to be repped by Kass and Stokes Management and attorney Steve Warren.

It was more than just a “role” on Six Feet Under, he was one of the main characters and he more than proved himself on the show just as Michael C. Hall & Peter Kruse also did. He is a talented actor that deserves a good show behind him.
he did a good job in ugly betty although he wasn’t given a lot to do. hopefully he will have a great career.
Yes, Rodriguez was thoroughly fantastic in Six Feet Under and his role was incredibly important to the series as a whole. Him and Justina Machado did a wonderful job playing the only Latino characters in the show and their portrayal of their marriage was one of the highlights of the series, easily one of the best dramas that ever aired on TV. Hopefully UTA will be able to find him projects worthy of his talents.
This guy is really underrated. A real – and REAL, core on 6FU. Brings a weight to anything he does – even comedy. Clearly someone the Big 2 didn’t get or perhaps they didn’t sound real themselves. And c’mon ICM, pump up the volume here!
Can’t wait to see Freddy Rodriguez in Chaos! It sounds like such a fun concept. When does filming start? Nellie, I live in Vancouver and I heard a rumor – is it really going to shoot here? Please tell! I would LOVE to see it filming.
I agree with Eddie’s comment, Freddy had more than a mere role on Six Feet Under – Rico Diaz was a distinguished part and in every episode – it was a treat every moment Freddy was onscreen.
Although it is true his part in Ugly Betty was limited (he appeared in only a dozen episodes out of 85, almost all in the second season) but despite that, his brilliant and well-loved character Gio made a deep and lasting impression on fans. Even after a year and a half of absence, fans did not forget Gio. They continued to beg and plead for him to return, and, sure enough, he was brought back at the tail end of the show in season 4.
Let us hope that by giving ICM the boot and switching to UTA his schedule will fill up. I doubt Freddy is a slacker, yet he was scarcely visible at all in 2009, a disappointing waste of his awesome talent.
