The London-based sales agent has closed a first-look deal with the indie New York-based producer. Bankside Films will have an exclusive first option to co-finance, and, where appropriate, executive produce movies with indie doyennes Christine Vachon and Pam Koffler. Projects covered include comedy Dealin With Idiots, the next film from Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm), about pushy parents driving their kids to succeed at sports, and Hilary Brougher’s adaptation of Innocence, Jane Mendelsohn’s vampire teen novel about a schoolgirl unaware that her school is really a vampire coven intent on making her a virgin sacrifice. Killer is currently in post on HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce, starring Kate Winslet and directed by Todd Haynes. The deal — negotiated by CAA for Killer — represents a step up for Bankside, one of the few Brit sales agents which offers equity finance.

Vachon is the person who didn’t understand how rights work so she ended up in lawsuit city on BOYS DON’T CRY. I hope Bankside has good legal people.
Yeah that was real shady move she pulled on Don Murphy, and I love how she defended it in her self aggrandizing book “A Killer Life”. Not happy to see this deal go through. Don Murphy deserved Boys Don’t Cry.
Christine Vachon is very familiar with how rights work. The problem on BOYS DON’T CRY was that the producers had releases and life rights from the real people involved — but then those people sued anyway. You can’t stop people from suing, even if they have no case.
I am sorry to say that you are wrong. She had nonsense contracts that were worthless which is why Fox settled. She knows nothing about producing.
Vachon’s one of the best producers working in indie cinema today. Kudos!
Christine you’re talking to yourself again. Up the meds!
Christine Vachon has weathered every possible storm in independent filmmaking. She manages to re-invent herself as a producer over and over again, constantly supporting new voices, but NEVER settling into a label. She’s one of the greats. And, it’s fantastic to see that yet again, she’s found a new way to keep making Killer Films. She is a total role model for producers of all kinds.
Christine exec-produced Cairo Time, one of the best movies I’ve seen so far this year.
As far as taistful obese Hermaphrodite’s go… Chris is at the top of his game.
Killer is the only company still making it happen
I think some of the comments on Christine Vachon are a bit superficial. How can you produce 15+ features and not understand contracts and rights? Especially with big Hollywood studios involved…Are you kidding?
