EXCLUSIVE: Hinds will play the local landowner who counsels Daniel Radcliffe as he investigates this Victorian mystery. Radcliffe and Hinds have just worked together on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, with Hinds playing Prof Dumbledore’s brother. McTeer will play Hinds’ on-screen wife, Mrs Daily. Based on the modern classic novel, The Woman In Black has been adapted by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass), and will be directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake). Shooting begins September 23. Exclusive Media Group – parent company of producer Hammer Films – is co-financing with Canadian distributor Alliance Films. It’s also handling international sales. Hammer tells me that it’s now decided NOT to shoot in 3D as first announced. Hurrah. If there’s one project that really doesn’t need the 3D gimmick, it’s this one.

Hopefully the first of many films to halt 3D plans. For all the tech, the effect is no better than the 1950s: Viewmaster in motion… LAME.
Not to shoot in 3D is a mistake. Everyone in the know realizes that 3D is the new frontier and all pictures opting not to embrace this technology will fall behind. Mark my words, 3D to 2D is like color to black and white.
Thank you.
But, anhonestanswer.com, there are some absolutely exquisite movies shot in B&W.
And who needs 3-D when you have: a great story; a haunting location; and, most importantly, Ms. Janet McTeer.
Janet McTeer (Tumbleweeds and Songcatcher) and Ciaran Hinds (Prime Suspect 3 among many others) are two of the best British actors working today – with such an excellent cast – this is bound to be great! : )
