Good for Miller. He’s a likeable guy even if you disagree with his politics.
This guy stopped being funny over a decade ago.
Remember when this guy was good? Now he’s just another Glen Beck!
Agreed.
He’s a stale, neocon bedwetter who these days makes Gallagher look like Bill Hicks.
Except Beck makes me laugh.
Miller is the booger in the bag of cashews. Can I say that? Cashews, I mean?
So greatly anticipated was Miller’s elevation from cable nibblet and smug twerp to the Voice of Everyfan on MNF, our very own wiseacre in the booth, that most of us kept dinner reservations and changed the oil in our cars and lived life pretty much as we did when Dan Dierdorf prattled without pause all those years.
Others, the dedicated few, took down every word and dismembered every bit of wit from Miller as if hidden within were the secrets of holistic healing, and they projected breathlessly Miller’s influence on social intercourse for the next 20 weeks. Can I say that? Holistic, I mean.
Miller was last funny in the summer of 2001. He picked a side in the ideological political wars and unfortunately he sided with the punch lines, the butt of the jokes.
used to like him, pre-MSNBC…..
Dennis used to be funny. 9/11 turned him into a kind of cunty version of Larry the cable guy with thesaurus.
Too bad. Booooo h.b.o. comedy
Dennis has only gotten funnier as time progresses. Looking forward to it.
The extreme left winger who went extreme right (or wrong) now has something to preach on now that Glenn Beck “had a dream?” Fantastic. He’s much better being the anonymous comedian that he’s become. HBO is obviously in need of something but Dennis isn’t it.
I used to like this cat but he’s turned into a real conservative uber-clown.
I can’t wait for this show….. Since 9-11-10 Dennis Miller has spoken the truth with humor and wisdom from the heart.
Dear Everyone,
The guy’s still funny, you just don’t like his politics.
So all of you libs must have disliked Bill Maher 10 yrs ago because you base funny on political ideaology. Thats what I thought. It says more about you not getting it. The guy is the same funny emmy winning talent but nice try.
Dennis is a has been, his best writers left him when he lost his mind after 911. Shame, Dennis used to be real good. Now he just sucks real bad, regardless of politics.
Now I don’t want to get off on a rant here but:
I have enjoyed Dennis Miller since SNL and his Black & White days. I enjoy is highly educated metaphors, and always have. I have all his books in print and audio and cherish them all. Sure it has to do with his political views NOW but it just so happens we are on the same team, which does make a difference. I liked him just as much when he was basically on the other side. For the most part in comedy you have to separate the politics from the comedy. If something is funny it’s funny. Leno, Letterman and the rest of the boys ragged on Bush and it was no big deal. In fact many of those jokes were funny. It’s not about politics in stand up but when he is on Fox News it is about politics (and being funny part of the time). I was one of the 2 or 3 listening to his radio show when he mentioned this special and I could not believe it, I was simply ecstatic. Keep on doing what you are doing, I for one love ya. Also I really look forward to Miller Time on Bill O‘Reilly every Wednesday on The Factor. Don’t watch Bill O‘Reilly much but the Miller segments are hilarious and this stand up show is going to be
great!!
Of course that is just my opinion and I could be wrong.
Mofo betta lay. Go on wit ya bad self! Dennis Miller’s tha shit and you aint nothin but some ashy ass hoes.
I can’t wait to see this. It would be nice if he replaced Bill Mahron.
I think it is hillarios when Liberal Juveniles run for the wood shed when the screw starts to turn on them. That is funnier than Miller who is fantastic.
I haven’t followed Dennis Miller’s career at all, I just remember him as being pretty pointedly funny and fairly intelligent the few times I’d seen him back in the day. So I was really disappointed when I caught his latest special on HBO. He had the wit and humor of a wet wool blanket.
The politics of fear-mongering kills a good sense of humor and imagination like an H bomb. And I’m not saying that because I’m liberal, I’m not liberal. Bill Mahr irritates me, and even when I generally(usually very generally) agree with him on a subject, I disagree with the way he says it. Partisan politics of either side disgust me and just distract people from what’s really going on and doing untold damage. So I’m not partial to either side in the political charade, but hearing Dennis Miller bashing Obama and then defending Glenn Beck is just sad. And politics aside, he just comes off like a grumpy old man without anything new or interesting to say.
So bottom line, I think much less of Dennis Miller now, as his latest HBO comedy special was just not comedic or special, just kind of pathetic and depressing.
Why am I not surprised by the comments of the Dennis Miller haters? It is undeniably clear that most of the people who don’t find him humorous are simply not bright enough to get his humor. His allusions to literature, art and history are a reflection of his intelligence and education. I for one enjoy his sardonic, articulate castration of the vast sea of uninformed, society leeches that seek to undermine the credibility of this country. Perhaps some of his comments aren’t necessarily meant to be funny but rather a metaphorical statement with an edge sharp enough to prick and get your attention…to get you thinking…to make a difference.
Dennis Miller plays to an upper level of intelligence. The unemployed mouth breathers in this country simply cannot understand him.
Appears alot of Michael Moore fans have written reviews above. Apparently, the old saying is more true than ever. “If you’re not liberal when you’re young, you don’t have a heart, but if you’re not conservative when you’re older, you don’t have a brain”. Either alot of young liberals, or brainless oldies spouting off about Dennis. If you’re an intelligent thoughtful person who understands the realities of politics in this country and worldwide, Dennis is hilariously insightful. He obviously won’t appeal to the Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank crowd, but otherwise, you’ll find his observations funnier than Jimmy Carter going to battle with a wild rabbit.
