Warner Bros has issued a new trailer for the Todd Phillips-directed Due Date, with Robert Downey Jr and Zach Galifianakis. This one, for the international market, gives up a few more laughs than an earlier trailer. I’ve seen the movie and can report they haven’t given away all the best jokes in the trailer as comedies sometimes do. They’ve barely scratched the surface.

Wow, was that Jamie Foxx in the trailer? Couldn’t be. Because if he was I’m sure somebody would mention it since he has a significant following. If that was Foxx then this article is an example of an inexcusable oversight or blatant bias. Not really surprised. Takers was #1 and no one seemed to care either.
I don’t think Foxx has a ‘significant’ following. This is a Downey/Galafanakis film, and that’s how it’s being promoted.
I saw the trailer with an audience, and they really enjoyed it.
@Chris
Foxx is a SUCCESSFUL singer/actor/comedian and Oscar winner with over 20yrs in the business. The man is EXTREMELY talented. I suppose he’d have to bleach his skin in order for you to acknowledge his talent and fan base because no one without a following could make such claims. As far as how the movie is being promoted I don’t understand what sense it makes to not exploit his presence, or that of ANY actor of note. No one says he deserves top billing but it just seems very odd to not try to get as many seats filled as possible.
Curtis,
Relax. A) Do you know how long Foxx is in the movie? B) Do you know if he has any “trailer worthy” moments in the film? It seems to me that he’s a cameo and perhaps nothing that he does in the movie the marketing people felt was “trailer worthy.” It’s not his film, it’s Zach and Downey’s flick. They selling it off them and Todd Phillips. Pure and simple and it’s Phillips’ answer to THE HANGOVER. So they are selling it as that and to do otherwise might confuse audiences.
Yup. I think he’s the Mike Tyson of this version of the Hangover
@Curtis Scoon
Lay off the paranoia! Seriously. No one said anything about race and no one said anything about Foxx not being talented. All that was said was that Chris didn’t think he had a significant following, which is matter of opinion. Don’t read into things that aren’t there and turn a simple comment into your own personal nutty discourse. ‘Cause when you do you just end up sounding like you landed deep on the wrong side of crazy.
Curtis, I’ve read the script and I’m African-American. Foxx is in it because it is a film with a comedic pedigree. It is not his film and he is in a cameo role. Foxx likes to do projects where he genuinely likes the team and cast, and he does not want this promoted as “his” film, because it is not. Yes, he does have a considerable following, but many movie stars support their friends or filmmakers that they like or respect, when asked. Relax man, there are plenty of things to cry foul about for racism… this is not one of them.
its foxx…..
“inexcusable oversight”? Yes, that’s Jamie Foxx in a cameo role. But the film also has cameos by Michelle Monaghan, Juliette Lewis, Danny McBride, RZA and Alan Arkin. Is it “blatant bias” they’re not mentioned either?
Relax. It’s a buddy movie. They’re selling it as such.
Thanks Erik but you should relax since my comment was about THIS trailer and THIS article. Those other very talented people were not in the trailer so there was no need to mention them. Jamie is an Oscar winner and cameo or not how do you not acknowledge him. Imagine Jack Nicholson in a clip and not being mentioned or Dicaprio or Clooney or… you get the picture. You’re not very good at playing stupid.
Ow! There it is!
But you ARE very good at playing “oppressed black man”. Maybe you’re actually a young white girl trying to stir the pot, but you reek of “oppressed black man” and that those types are so friggin’ old it’s boring.
@In the know
I do pretty good in spite any “oppression” you may assume I’m under. That, however doesn’t mean I’m going through life with blinders on. Why must I be oppressed for observing inconsistency and calling it out. Is that your way of suppressing truth? LOL.
HAHAHAHAHA!!! How PREDICTABLE!!! I just checked Curtis Scoon’s link and (drumroll please) guess what race HE is?!
Curtis, I don’t know you, but based on comments I’ve read from you now and in the past, you are, dear sir, what’s wrong with our race (Didn’t know I was black, did you?). You remind me of the ex pro football player Warren Sapp complaining on ESPN about feeling like a “slave in chains” oppressed by all the white owners. Friggin’ moron was making endless MILLIONS doing a job kids will only dream about but, oh yeah, he was “oppressed”.
Curtis, stick to the thug crap you claim to co-produce (Sidebar: A co-producer credit doesn’t make you a “producer”. It means you’re somebody’s friend.) and leave your racial crap off this site.
PS – I realize I’m “going there” with the racial stuff, but man, racial stuff is all you got.
@ In The Know
Wasn’t aware my credits were the topic. Unlike you and others here I actually use my real name to speak my mind because this industry is my HOBBY not my life. I couldn’t care less who likes it because I don’t grovel for a living. Sounds familiar? And you’re very wrong, I have more than a co-producer credit and NO friends in the industry thank you. With friends like people like you… You know how it goes. Let’s go back to the ISSUE. An OSCAR winner is on camera yet somehow the writer fails to mention. Regardless of what any “comfortable” conclusions drawn about me it seems to be peculiar and granted ALL the opportunities available to black guys like “us”
it caught my eye which it would have done if the same thing happened to DiCaprio or some other ACCOMPLISHED actor (but of course we know it wouldn’t). Let me suggest you cease with your “blackface” routine. It’s really poorly executed.
The bottom line is if my assertion was so far fetched it would not have pushed the buttons it did. The truth may be an offense but it’s never a sin.
Good day “bro.” lol
Are you for serious?
Curtis, I found more “inexcusable oversights” in other one-paragraph articles on this site as well. Thought you might be interested.
8/24/10: The ‘Hot Trailer: 127 Hours’ article fails to mention James Franco, but does mention Danny Boyle. Who knew Mike Fleming hated Americans?
8/5/10: The “Hot Trailer: Burlesque” article fails to mention Kristen Bell, who is featured in the trailer, but does mention Cher and Christina Aguilera. Clearly Mike Fleming has a vendetta against Veronica Mars.
LOL! Well okay Mike. Maybe things aren’t as they appear THIS time.
AMEN! Curtis… GO AWAY!!!
Curtis – Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. He’s pretty white.
Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder, Curtis.
Are you joking, Curtis? It was a 63 word paragraph setting up the trailer. Oscar winner or not, he was in the trailer for four seconds.
Curtis is simply looking to stir the pot. He’s probably rallying somewhere about how “whitey” is keeping “the black man” down (despite the fact that “whitey” is now a minority).
@The Obvious
Contrary to your belief the vast majority of breaks I’ve received in life came from “whitey” and I harbor no ill will for anyone except inept poseurs of any complexion who waste my time. The truth is, minority or not, Whites hold the power and there’s no shame in that. Actually, blacks are apprehensive of doing business with me for reasons I won’t get into here, but since few, if any wield any power it poses no problems. I believe in the power of diversity which is why I’d more than welcome a Jewish business partner. That tandem his a fairly decent track record. Don’t you think? lol
As always, racist liars like you are wrong. Whites are not the minority, particularly in the media biz where they represent 95% of the workforce & 99% of the executive branch. Whites won’t be a population minority until 2050.
But keep behaving like an asshat & in that time you’ll know exactly what it feels like to be treated like a minority, because there’s such a thing as the chickens coming home to roost.
wow. I already peed my pants.
“Fried” chickens?
It sure feels like Trains, Planes and Automobiles with Steve Martin and John Candy…but not as good!
SPOT ON! Phillips movies NEVER have heart. They’re fucking funny as hell, but since he has no heart himself it’ll never translate otherwise onscreen.
HA!!! Phillips movies have no heart cause he has no heart!? Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned? Or did you used to work for him and get fired?
Either way your comment made my day. Sorry your life sucks.
Oh, i have no affiliation with Phillips and have never worked with him even tangentally. But show me where his flicks have heart. They don’t. And I hear he’s a raging asshole on a number of different levels.
Speaking of assholes, don’t be so quick to jump to conclusions about my life.
“FUNNY!” I wonder if your last name is Budnick by chance.
not too sure ’bout this one
it looks awesome!! It’s like the live action version of UP!
RDJ is God.
Galifianakis is genuinely hilarious.
Perfect odd couple pairing.
Can’t wait.
wondering if this is typical high concept where most of the laughs end up in the trailer
WOW, NIKKI….HOW MANY POINTS DO YOU HAVE ON THE BACK END TO SAY THIS MOVIE IS FUNNY. WORST TRAILER I HAVE SEEN IN A WHILE.
Didn’t give away the best jokes?
Hope so! And what a way to sell a movie!
“The best jokes aren’t in the trailer!”
That looks wacky bad calculated awful.
Feeling bad about the film business again.
Wah.
This looks stupid, and not funny at all. The fact that they had to rely on two car door getting slammed off its hinges gags means they were really straining to find some comedy. What a waste of talent.
Still not a single laugh in that entire trailer, and I’m a huge Downey fan.
oh, and Galifianakis… the clock is ticking on your pathetic 15 minutes…
Hate to sound like a studio schill but this looks like a hilarious movie. RDJ is in his PRIME. I’m talking Olivier, he’s a genius actor, ZG is one of the funniest new comics in decades and Jamie Foxx is the icing on the cake
The trailer delivers with Downey and Galifianakis’ working both classic slapstick and dark ironic comedy with great style and timing. Todd Phillips is much more talented than I originally thought and is making some unbelievably funny movies…
Sorry, liked the first trailer with the dad stories at the opening better. It hooks you. The new trailer doesn’t offer up any new material. I’m thinking rental unless I hear some real positive word of mouth.
The nonsense Curtis is spewing is far more entertaining than the trailer. Seems like a wholly uninventive rip-off of way better movies. RDJ and Zach G. are brilliant. Elsewhere. Todd Phillips clearly has directing chops and the ability to attract big stars but by all accounts his talent loses by a nose to his douchiness.
