Previous: ‘Memphis Beat’ Looks Good For Renewal
TNT is ordering a second helping of its hit series MEMPHIS BEAT, starring Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl) and Alfre Woodard (Three Rivers). TNT has ordered 10 episodes for the second season of the series, which also stars DJ Qualls (Hustle & Flow). The show is slated to return in 2011.
MEMPHIS BEAT premiered June 22 and quickly established itself as one of the summer’s hottest shows. In its first season, MEMPHIS BEAT averaged 4.7 million viewers and ranked as one of ad-supported cable’s Top 5 new series of the summer and the #1 Tuesday series among adults 25-54. MEMPHIS BEAT was created by Liz W. Garcia (Cold Case) and Joshua Harto (The Dark Knight). The series comes to TNT from George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures and Warner Horizon Television.

I’m so happy to hear this show is coming back for another season. It seems like the network finally got it right with Memphis Beat and I hope its here to stay for a while. FANTASTIC show!
The Main caracfer of Memphis beat seeems to have a more visual “life”, with talents and quirks that dovetail perfectly with his “job”. It is one of the most refreshing shows that have come along in a long time. The music mix is also very much appreciated
and ditto on Jason’s versatility as an Actor.
Yes! Finally the network has gotten it right! I am so happy to hear this show is coming back, it’s the perfect mix of comedy and drama. The writing is great and I think it’s a great cast. Keep it up TNT!!! And keep this show on the air! I hope it lasts another 10 years!!!
Memphis Beat is superb – congrats to all the cast – Jason Lee brilliant as always and boy that dude can sing some….
Before all the naysayers and boo birds come calling…THERE WILL BE A NEW SHOWRUNNER AND PRODUCING-DIRECTOR next season. Please be patient as this show will get better.

Why is it filmed in New Orleans? Doesn’t make any sense.
Huge tax incentives in Louisiana and professional production crew/facilities/equipment in place Memphis doesn’t have so they also save money not importing those. Same reason anything set in Seattle isn’t actually shot in Seattle but Vancouver.
I love this show. I am so glad its been renewed . I hate having to wait to 2011 for another season however. I love the shows ending and Jason Lee[s rendition of Elvis tunes. the show has a real authentic feel of Memphis
love the dam thing. want a lot more of it
I loved this show this summer! I watched it every week. I am soooooo glad it is coming back. Jason Lee can really sing. I look forward the songs he sings he does them so well. I wish it would come on sooner than next year though.
This is great news! I had heard that TNT was really on the bubble about rewewing Memphis Beat because the ratings had allegedly dropped dramatically after the premiere episode. I have turned quite a few people on to this excellent show and I’m glad to say that many of my friends are really big fans of it now. Way to go, TNT! Now if the word of mouth gets around about Memphis Beat it will have an even more successful second season!
YEAH!
I understand Jason is not really doing the singing (bummer). It’s Mark Arnell. The fact that Jason isn’t the crooner was a bit disappointing at first, but I am now over that and continuing to enjoy his great acting. It’s hard to believe Jason’s the same actor from “My Name is Earl.” His range of characterization is outstanding.
This is great news, I love the show, great action, good writing, great actor and actress chemistry, bring it on, can’t wait. thank TNT
This show is so great and even thought it is filmed in Louisiana, it still makes me want to move to Memphis.Love, love the music, love the more mature actors and so thankful everyone is not a look a like dressed in 2piece suits, like some of the other cop shows;. Keep it down home and keep up the good and funny scripts.
Fantastic!!! Woohoo!!! Absolutely love this show!!!!
(If I remember correctly, though, the actor is lip-syncing.)
I am so excited to find out that Memphis Beat will be back in 2011, even though I don’t fit the age demographics, as I am a 61 year old woman, but what the hey. This show appeals to all ages and the laidback style and comfortableness of the show really makes it enjoyable. The music is awesome, no matter who’s singing. Thanks TNT for giving US, the viewers, what WE want.
Does Jason Lee have a CD out of the songs he sings on the show. I think his versions are so full of emotion.
Please put Memphis Beat back on. Please let us know the date it will start.
Thank You,
Grant
It’s not really Jason Lee singing. I hope you all know that.
