EXCLUSIVE: Jamie Bell has been set to star in Man On A Ledge, the Summit Entertainment crime drama that will star Sam Worthington. Reports have The Hurt Locker‘s Anthony Mackie also negotiating. The film’s being directed by Asger Leth, best known for his documentary Ghosts of Cite Soleil. He’s gathering a strong cast for his Hollywood debut, a nice rebound after the implosion of Cartel, the La Scorta remake Leth was set to direct until its plug got pulled by Universal last April, seven weeks from shooting with Josh Brolin in the starring role.
Scripted by Pablo Fenjves with a rewrite underway from Red scribes Erich and Jon Hoeber, Man on a Ledge begins production November in New York. Worthington plays a cop thrown in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. Let out for his father’s funeral, he escapes and ends up on a hotel ledge threatening to kill himself.
Bell plays his brother, who happens to be planning a heist of a jewelry store across the street while the cop threatens suicide. Mackie would play the disgraced cop’s ex-partner. The pic’s produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, and David Ready. Still to be cast is the role of a female psychiatrist, who tries to talk the cop off the ledge and develops feelings for him. Rumors have Amy Adams interested, but there is no deal yet.
Bell next stars with Channing Tatum in the Kevin Macdonald-directed The Eagle of the Ninth, Jane Eyre and The Adventures of Tin Tin: The Secret of the Unicorn, and he’s starring with Cillian Murphy in The Retreat.

I hope Summit is paying Bell and Mackie on this one as they are so talented and on their way to being big stars!! They deserve it.
Funny, I haven’t heard about ‘Man On A Ledge’ or Bell and Mackie until I read this post, I will look into it, Thanks!
Wow this is the third “man on a ledge” movie in production. kinda odd this theme would repeat itself in multiple projects.
Pablo fenjves was the guy who was on stand at the OJ trial and said he heard a dog’s “plaintive wail.” Writers.
Shawn, what are the others?
Liv Tyler and Patrick Wilson will star in the suspense film “The Ledge” for first-time writer-director Matthew Chapman.
The actors join a cast that includes Terrence Howard and Charlie Hunnam.
The story focuses on a man (Hunnam) standing on a high-rise ledge who says that he will jump by noon as a policeman below (Howard) tries to talk him down.
The other movie’s working title was “life on the ledge” but I don’t think they’re going with that now and is still casting.
Sam Worthington is so talented and handsome. On the other side Anthony Mackie is a wonderful actor. Hope its gonna rock.
Jamie Bell will be EVERYHERE next year. I count this as the sixth film in just one year. The picture of him above is gorgeous, but the way.
Great news! I’m really excited to see Jamie take on some of these darker roles (in this project and The Retreat) and display other facets of his acting talent.
Awesome cast!! Can’t wait to see this.
I’m still waiting to see Sam Worthington prove himself. So far he hasn’t really done anything worthy of the huge amount of attention on him. Baffling.
