Noomi Rapace have closed a deal to make her English language and studio debut playing the female lead in Sherlock Holmes 2, which is just getting underway in the UK. But Noomi hasn’t even read the script yet (and will do so this weekend). After her performance as Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, Nikki told you that Warner Bros’ Greg Silverman wanted her for Sherlock Holmes 2. (Noomi Rapace Up For ‘Sherlock Holmes 2′ & ‘Mission Impossible 4′) So now Rapace has officially gone Hollywood.

Noomi isn’t replacing Rachel McAdams in the sequel. She’s playing a different role.

Why remake such an amazing movie? “The Girl…” was wonderful-please keep the Americans away from it. You’ll ruin it, just as you’ve ruined “Let the Right One In”.

Great news! She is fantastic. And anyone who hasn’t read the books really should- I just finished Girl who Played With Fire and it was a real page turner. Lisbeth Salander is a bad ass!

Love Rachel McAdams like Hummers love gas, but she was miscast. (Just don’t buy her doing period.) Rapace certainly adds an exciting edge here.
But Noomi hasn’t even read the script yet
Watch for that PR clip and the appearances in the late night shows, then, where she will say, “It was the script that made me do it, it was such a wonderful intense and deep story that kept me turning page after page after page. I didn’t want to have my Hollywood debut in a mindless blockbuster, but the script showed the enormous depth of my character and her interaction with Holmes that…”

Couldn’t stand McAdams in Sherlock Holmes. She was a weak link and I felt she had zero chemistry with Robert Downey Jr. Noomi is an excellent actress and I have no doubt she can hold her own. I just finished watching The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo and in the interview following, Noomi said she did not want to play Lisbeth. Just the physical preparation alone sounded exhausting.
Mcadams can’t hold a candle to the awesomeness that is NOOMI

I cannot fathom how the remake of Tattoo will be worth the trouble.
They’re aware, aren’t they, that although she speaks excellent English, that her English is heavily accented. They’re going to need to write the character as a Swede. This is not as easy as an Australian mimicking American English.
Rachel McAdams was great in Sherlock Holmes – lovely hollywood looks . Noomi Rapace has dark looks , and will probably play the mistress of Moriarty .
