Not a big fantasy buff, but I am happy that HBO’s doing a show like this. I love it when they take chances beyond our imaginations. Kudos to Sue and the crew.
I will check it out for sure.
After the awesomeness that was The Pillars of the Earth, I am totally up for more programming of similar faire. This show will be amazing.
I have never been more amped up for a show in my entire life.
I’m a huge fan of the books, and from everything I’ve read, they are going to be remarkably faithful to the source-material.
The casting so far is nearly spot on, and with this new clips, it’s obvious they are putting in time and effort to make the TV show live up to the high standards of the fans.
Cannot wait!
Dont know if the casting is ‘spot on’ but HBO rarely disappoint with big budget shows so lets hope they continue in this vein! The books are amazing so we can only pray that she show does it even a little justice! And if u lot are expecting some kind of typical magic fantasy you are in for a BIG surprise……….dont be expecting any elves, hobbits or any stereotypical witches, this is more like a ‘Knights and Ladies’ style with brutal reality and no holds bars
I tried to read the books but it was just overwhelming. The TV show sounds intriguing. If the producers pull off this adaptation of the George RR Martin novel, I might watch more…and pick up the books again for another try.
this is the first time HBO has me interested in one of their shows. I really like the Game of Thrones series and it will be interested to see it translated to television. Hope they do the books justice.
I am very happy this is being done by HBO instead of trying to squeeze into 2 hours of Hollywood blockbuster.
The earlier posts are right; this series is not so much ‘Fantasy’ as ‘Medieval Borgias’ with a few supernatural touches. He is also not afraid to kill off the most important characters so I hope the actors with leading roles realise they have not necessarily landed a long-term meal ticket
Now we know why George hasn’t finished A Dance With Dragons, because he is too busy hanging around on the set! Back to work, George!
My main complaint about this adaptation is that the actors are far too old for the characters, if one chooses to be a purist about it. Sean Bean is an excellent actor but he is 50 playing a man who is probably closer to 35. In the novels, everyone “gets going with the important stuff” much earlier than we do in this modern age.
I suppose they could just say that the hardship of life in that world makes everyone appear to be 10-20 years older.
