OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network this morning announced the long-rumored series with troubled Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson. The six-part documentary Finding Sarah will feature Ferguson’s “personal struggle to rebuild her life,” said OWN’s chief creative officer Lisa Erspamer. “With the help of experts Dr. Phil McGraw, Suze Orman, Martha Beck and others, The Duchess will open up about her recent public troubles and explore her lifelong battles with weight, relationships and finances.” Speculation about a Ferguson series on OWN started when the Duchess sat down with Winfrey to discuss her bribery scandal on June 1. Finding Sarah is being produced by World of Wonder for a premiere in the first quarter of 2011.

I hope they add caroline manza to the closing episode so she can repeat her famous line. ‘this is bull#*$@#!
Is this really the best we can hope for from Oprah’s OWN? A defrocked fraud who happened to marry a Prince being analyzed by three people whose success is the by-product of the same tabloid mentality that celebrated the defrocked fraud? Really, Oprah?
Poor Sarah. She has really sunk to the bottom of the barrel. She must really be hurting for money. Additionally, the show sounds ghastly.
ac has it right but the internal workings of Oprah and her products have largely escaped serious criticism due to her extreme and oppressive confidentialities. Be that as it may, the added fact that Fergie is a has-been being marketed to an ever-aging boomer audience doesn’t bode well. But Oprah must do something. She is already classically over-budget with Discovery and now has to do a prime time talker herself in the hopes of bringing back the bacon. If she hired people who new Hollywood and not just Harpo it might help but then she may expose herself to a long dreaded union issue and she might have to give healthcare to everyone. Maybe she’s just trying to live her best life…
