EXCLUSIVE: Alfred Molina and Terrence Howard are getting a boss — veteran actor Peter Coyote has joined the cast of NBC’s new crime drama Law & Order: Los Angeles as the District Attorney. On the Wolf Films/UMS’ series, Coyote will supervise DAs Peter Morales (Molina) and Jonah “Joe” Dekker (Howard). The Law & Order spinoff premieres on September 29th. It also co-stars Skeet Ulrich, Corey Stoll, Megan Boone, Regina Hall and Rachel Ticotin. Coyote most recently recurred as the U.S. President on ABC’s FlashForward last season.
Meanwhile, Will Yun Lee will be recurring on another freshman drama, Hawaii Five-0, after gust starring in the pilot. On the reboot, which debuts on Monday, APA-repped Lee will reprise his role in the pilot as outlaw Sang Min.

This show is really putting together a cool cast. I LOVE Peter Coyote, what a great idea! Corey Stoll is undiscovered genius, Alfred Molina is so good, Terence Howard will probably be good too. Hope it all gels and they make an excellent new L and O.
I wasn’t going to watch until I heard this little bit of casting news. I’ll have to check out an episode or two now. Coyote can be terriffic.

My fear is that mad “Law & Order” fans and “Law & Order: CI” fans won’t watch “Law & Order: Los Angeles”!
I heard (rumor likely) that a “Law & Order: Miami” is supposed to be replacing “Law & Order: CI” on USA Network.
But again, I think Peter Coyote is a good addition to “Law & Order: LA”, seems like LOLA now has a crackerjack cast!
The cast really is shaping up to be quite awesome. Love Molina in pretty much everything. When does the show premiere?

It was rumored early on that they would bring some of the cast from NY L&O to LA, but doesn’t seem that it happened. Oh well, I like the cast. I will miss Jack, Connie and Mike and the detectives though.
great for Will Yun Lee…he was fantastic on FX’s Thief! Hopefully we see a lot of him on Hawaii 5-0! Great casting choice for Peter Coyote! LOLA sounds like it could be good.

Law & Order: Los Angeles (LOLA) will premiere Wednesday September 29 on NBC after an all new Law & Order: SVU.
I like the casting of Peter Coyote, but I am confused as to whether he’s a recurring character or a cast regular?
He’s the counterpart of Sam Waterston’s character in the NY version. He may or may not appear, according to the script’s requirements, but he will likely be shown in the opening credits, as the previous DAs were in NY.
I will watch, but I cannot believe that USA or some other network did not pick up my NBC original. Law and Order still has a strong following and I watch the dvr recordings over anything new on tv, especially the cheap crap of reality tv, which I completely ignore as a huge insult.
anything that Terence Howard is in is worth watching…Intended to anyway, but when I heard he was in it..now it is a must!..Coyote is great, too!
Who’s shilling for this show, NBC or LAO cast/crew? You’ve got a bunch of comments here, all the same length and tone, all saying the same damn thing. “I can’t wait for this show!” That reeks of “Ignorant flack talk.”
EVERYONE I know is super sick of this tired franchise and wouldn’t check it out if Brando rose from the dead and agreed to star. But you’d never know that from the Deadline comments. And while Coyote is a good actor, he hasn’t been hot for same time. As a matter of fact, this entire cast feels about as stale as 7-day-old bread.
Uh,Uggh – WHO is super sick of this franchise? Not I…Enjoy them all – but am particularly partial to SVU and now LA

First I hear Bobby Goren is coming back for another season of CI and now one of my favorites Peter Coyote is joining L&O Los Angeles, this just keeps getting better & better. Now, if they would just let “regular” L&O return for another 20 years I’d be a happy camper!
I think adding Peter Coyote to the cast will make the show much more exciting and will certainly get me watching every episode.
Watching the new Law and Order in LA. The bald guy with the mustache looks either creepy or special needs. Grow some hair.
