Robert Halderman, the former CBS 48 Hours producer sentenced to six months after pleading guilty to grand larceny for trying to get $2 million in hush money from late night host David Letterman, has been let out of jail after serving four months, Huffington Post reports.

I suppose now he’ll get a book deal to “tell all.”
Why no mention of what Letterman did in order to get extorted? Why has he gotten a complete pass on this?
Because while what he did was immoral and an abuse of power, no one has claimed it was illegal (and the woman in question has seemingly never filed any sort of complaint). Extortion, on the other hand, is ALWAYS illegal.
“Why has he gotten a complete pass on this?”
1. Racism.
2. Corporate influence (they didn’t want this scandal to be dragged out in the media).
3. A corrupt system (here’s a shout out to you corrupt, racist law enforcement officials, from the police to lawyers, local and federal, who don’t have an ethical bone in their bodies to cooperate with such double standards, i.e., one law for the attractive in our society and another law for the unattractive, friendless, and poor).
4. A very compliant, authority-worshipping major media whose journalism practices are nothing if not zero-sum and racist.
5. A joke-ass, nearly non-existent top-down (i.e., Democratic Party) driven Left with their related weenie journalists, so-called activists, and non-profits.
Whom did I leave out?
Oh, yes. Big, brave, multi-millionaire David Letterman who will now rollover and keep quiet, since that’s the MO of the network sellout. But whoever said that he had any integrity? Let me just grandstand before a national audience and play the victim, but now that another crime has been committed, albeit an ethical one – eh?
Get out much?
Letterman faces a conundrum: he wants this story to go away.
But Halderman needs to support his family, and will be tempted to write a book or sell his story.
The real question is when will this convict be booked on Leno’s “Tonight Show”?
That was quick!
Knarf @ 5.05
How the hell did you jump from ethics to “Driven Left withe their related weenie journalists”?
To begin with your diatribe is incoherent; to finish it smells of rancid bigotry. Take bath.
@ Los Angeles
First — talk about incoherent. You can’t spell, can’t quote correctly, misuse a semicolon. And what does “Take bath” supposed to mean? But I guess I already covered that with, “Talk about incoherent.”
Based on your own writing, it appears that anything complicated confuses you, so let me make a heroic effort to untie your dyslexic formulations.
I know of no grammatical or debating rule that says I cannot jump from one subject to another. Therefore, yours is what is called a “straw man argument.”
Also, where’s the bigotry? Bigotry is not unlike racism, right? So where’s my racism, double standards, stereotyping? Also, if you are the paragon of cogency, then you do not state that a person or remark is “bigoted” unless you support that statement with 1) the quotation you think is bigoted, and 2) your reasoning why it is bigoted.
Next time, ask. Don’t just call names or state opinions without backup. P.S. Get an education. When you take me on, Smell A, you’re entering the major leagues in polemical, forensic discourse, so bring your A Game and leave the platitudes at home.
I hope that I have doubled your knowledge on how to be an effective, competent thinker and writer.
QED
Played a round of golf with him once. He was a fourth, none of us knew him. Seemed like a nice guy, smart, interesting, well read and traveled. We invited him for beers and without getting maudlin about it, it kinda leaked out that he was divorced, got slammed in the settlement and now the kids were thousands of miles away and it all hurt. A few weeks later, his picture was in the Times, standing at the dock. He made his bed and all that but I still felt for the guy.
