UPDATE 1:30 PM: With final Live+Same Day numbers in, several series got a .1 demo rating boost from DVR viewing: CBS’ The Big Bang Theory (now 4.9/16 among 18-49) and The Mentalist (3.4/10), and NBC’s The Office (4.4/12) and Outsourced (3.6/10). Meanwhile, ABC’s Private Practice went down .1 to a 3.2/9, so now The Mentalist is winning the 10 PM hour by a comfortable margin after being tied with Practice in the fast nationals.
9:30 AM: The biggest scheduling gamble this fall has paid off: The Big Bang Theory kicked-off its Thursday run, well, with a big bang. Of the newbies, CBS’ $#*! My Dad Says and NBC’s Outsourced did solid business, while ABC’s new documentary-style drama My Generation was pretty much D.O.A. Besides The Office, all returning series were down year-to-year led by veteran Thursday anchors CSI and Grey’s Anatomy, which continued their ratings erosion with second consecutive year-to-year double-digit ratings drop in premiere week. The Apprentice continued to flatline, while NBC’s comedy block wasn’t bang-ed up too much (get it?) by the new comedy competition. Here is a network-by-network rundown:
The fourth season premiere of The Big Bang Theory scored a 4.8/15 among adults 18-49 and 14 million viewers. That was up 4% in the demo from the series’ premiere behind Two and a Half Men on Monday last fall and a whooping 37% in the demo from the season premiere of Survivor in the Thursday slot a week earlier last year. $#*! My Dad Says (3.9/12, 12.5 million) held onto solid 81% of Big Bang‘s demo lead-in, and the two comedies dominated the 8 PM hour in both adults 18-49 and viewers. At 9 PM, CSI (3.4/9, 14.7 million) didn’t get much of a boost from the guest stint of pop star Justin Bieber, down 17% in 18-49 from last year’s season premiere. It finished third in the hour among adults 18-49, while edging Grey’s Anatomy for the top spot in total viewers. At 10 PM, The Mentalist (3.3/10) was down 9%. CBS won the night in both adults 18-49 (3.7/11) and viewers (14.4 million).
OK, My Generation. Whether it was the hard-to-follow plot with multiple storylines or the confusing marketing or the time slot, but ABC’s new drama managed only a 1.6/5 in its premiere at 8 PM, tied for fourth place in the hour with the CW’s Vampire Diaries. Vs. last year’s premiere of FlashForward, My Generation was down 61%. More bad news for ABC at 9 PM, where Grey’s Anatomy (5.3/14) was down 21% from last season’s premiere, and at 10 PM, where Private Practice (3.3/10) was down 28%. But unlike with My Generation, it wasn’t all bad for Grey’s and Practice as both still won their time slots in the demo, Grey’s by a wide margin to finish as Thursday’s top-rated premiere for a 5th straight year, and Practice tied with The Mentalist and posting its best 18-49 number in 8 months.
A guest appearance by Betty White might have helped in softening the blow for NBC’s sophomore Community, which faced Big Bang head-on. The NBC comedy drew a 2.2/7 in 18-49, up 10% from the premiere of SNL Weekend Update in the slot a week earlier last year and up 16% from its own time slot premiere at 8 PM last fall after a brief run at 9:30 but down 42% from its series premiere behind The Office. At 8:30 PM, 30 Rock (2.6/8) was up 24% from the season premiere of Parks & Recreation last year and off modest 13% from its season premiere last year behind The Office where it had two-times bigger lead-in. Maybe boosted by the publicity surrounding star Steve Carell’s pending exit, The Office (4.3/11) bucked the down trend for returning series on the night, up 5% from last season’s premiere. This was the highest-rated Office episode since the March 4 segment that featured the birth of Jim and Pam’s baby. New comedy Outsourced (3.5/9) at 9:30 PM was down 8% from the premiere of Community in the 9:30 slot last fall, but showed better retention than slot predecessor 30 Rock, 81% vs. 73%. The Apprentice (1.4/4) was down 7% from last week’s record-low premiere to log its lowest-rated telecast ever. A year ago, the now-defunct Jay Leno Show did a 1.7 in the hour. While viewers still flocked to watch celebrities getting fired in the past few cycles of The Apprentice, seeing ordinary people, who are also unemployed this season, getting the boot is proving rather unpopular.
Down night all-around: Bones (2.7/8) slipped 17% from its premiere a week earlier last year, while Fringe (2.1/6) was down 30% from the same week, the steepest year-to-year decline for any returning series. Comparisons to the same night last year (Week 2 for both series back then) are more favorable: Bones was down 4%, Fringe 9%.
Following its soft season premiere, Vampire Diaries is showing spunk. The sophomore series was up from last week across the board, including 20% in total viewers (3.6 million) and 12% in adults 18-34. Nikita (3.2 million) was flat in viewers but slipped a notch in the demos.

All these ABC flops can’t be blamed on McPherson…
There’s a whole crew of no-talents over there who have been festering for years.
Now that we’ve got new blood in the top, it’s time to CLEAN HOUSE.
Steve will get blamed for it, but there is a bunch of execs over there who will be out next year when ABC realizes who is really at fault. But they will probably just replace them with someone who failed at another network.
It’s a constant reshuffling of the deck chairs on the network tv’s titanic.
Of course My Generation flopped. It looked so bland, cliche, and boring. If the main networks want to compete with the booming cable market they need to start thinking more outside the box than this crap.
Were we watching the same show? I thought My Generation was original and engaging. It’s one of only two new shows I’ve seen so far that I’ll continue to watch this season, the other being Detroit 187. Well done, ABC.
Ok. Clearly, Pam works at/for ABC.
Actually I was just thinking the same thing (and I don’t work for ABC). My Generation was a really, really good show. It’s just that not a lot of people tuned in for it.
I really hope they give it some time to pick up viewers before pulling the plug. It definitely has a lot of potential.
No, no, I watched My Generation. I was bored out of my mind. “Why didn’t you turn it off then?” Because I was really hoping that it would get better. It was a very long hour.
So many of these reviews are, “But I liked the music!” Great. Go to iTunes. Music isn’t what makes a show good.
Whatever “Pam” re-posting as “G”…
I wish I did work for ABC. In fact, I wish I was on the writing staff for My Generation, short-lived as it might be.
Pam-
No, you don’t.
Shit My Dad Says might be the WORST show on TV. Wow. God awful. Expect it to squander that Big Bang gift in coming weeks.

it’s cute that I have an admirer (ryan devlin???)….but anybody who knows the REAL eyechart knows that I liked Shit My Dad Says. Max and David are great writers and people and I wish that show and it’s cast and crew nothing but the best.

Oh good god, no. Shit My Dad Says looked like a fine honed veteran comedy compared to Mike & Molly.
what does Mike & Molly have to do with this?
Community – that is my favorite comedy so far this season. off- the-wall and poignant at the same time.
“This Ring Comes Off You Know…”
“When I’m With Him I’m Thinking of You”
“You May Have His Hand, But I Have His Heart”
EPIC FAIL.
Too many sweeping generalizations about a group of millions of people. It was fallacy from the start.
I agree. I was completely turned off by the marketing campaign. I think this may also be why “Lone Star” failed. Who wants to watch a series about a husband cheating on his wife? We see that all the time in real life.
I’m official, I’m giving up on The Office; the episode had no real story but short SNL skits that were not funny. I feel bad for Carell, the writers are clearly not going to use his acting abilities but try to spruce up other useless cast members like Kapour and B.J. Why is B.J. still features on the opening credits? He only says one or two lines top (that are not even funny). Big Bang on the other… hilarious. I seriously hope they put these to up against each, Big Bang with be charged with manslaughter. My Generation was also funny, to think they actually thought this had a chance. Fox should have aired repeats of House and moved Thursday lineup to Friday.
I’ll write it first, Betty White is becoming way overrated. I’m tired to seeing grandma playing confused and lost… unless she’s not playing.
Wow, Ethan, you’re a gem. Firstly, you’re the one-thousandth person to say or write that Betty White is overrated/overexposed, so stop patting yourself on the back.
Secondly, and I hate that millions of people disagree with me on this but hey, we can’t exactly underestimate the intelligence of your average American tv viewer, but THE BIG BANG THEORY IS AWFULLLLLLLL.
THE MOST LAZY COMEDY WRITING ON TV. EVEN “TWO AND A HALF MEN” IS BETTER AND THAT SHOW IS ATROCIOUS AND MIND-NUMBINGLY LAZY. At least I’ve laughed a few times at Men but I’ve never laughed ONCE at Big Bang and I’ve given it MANY tries.
I even tried again last night. Lasted 6 minutes. 3 minutes longer than my last try. It’s like watching a train wreck.
JIM GAY-SCIENTIST EMMY-WINNER WHATS-HIS-NAME IS THE NEW DAVID HYDE PIERCE MINUS THE INHERENT TALENT. Annoying, cloying, no talent, pompous, clown makeup wearing hit-the-lottery-when-he-got-this role actor (lower case “a”) who should be doing improv at the UCB but because there is no god is cashing million-dollar checks.
It really chaps my dick that Big Bang is not only such a huge success but that people on this board, who take tv seriously, defend it as great television. I don’t know what’s worse. Actually, I do, it’s you guys. Holding up commercial success as quality. Which I understand if we’re discussing business decisions but when we’re talking about what’s funny and what’s not, sheesh, get a clue.
Agghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
You don’t like the show, but it doesn’t mean the show isn’t good. It’s your opinion and you sound like s disgruntled comedy writer. I am not and I can watch that show and enjoy it. What are the comedies that are worthy of your praise? Outsourced?
You don’t speak for anyone other than yourself.
Also, just because something is a success doesn’t mean it’s not good.
Completely agree — and funnier than Big Bang, too.
You just sound bitter, love. Sorry.
Comedy is subjective. All you have to do is go to a stand-up comedy club in New York (Upper Westside, Midtown and Lower Eastside). People are laughing at different things. You’ll never get everyone to agree on what’s funny.
I don’t like Big Bang at all and watch Community, but other people seem to really enjoy this show and made it a hit. No reason to be angry because it found an audience that enjoys it.
Tone down the calumny. Just because someone doesn’t like a show you like, it’s doesn’t make them a “failed comedy writer”. Why is that everyone’s knee jerk reaction on the Deadline boards?
“Big Bang Theory” is a safe show, it doesn’t take risks. That’s why it’s on CBS and why it has lots of viewers. That’s also why it’s not a great show.
I think “Community” and “Modern Family” are the best comedies on TV, because they do take risks. “Community” moreso, which I think is why it has fewer viewers. Also it speaks to a younger generation that gets the “meta”, “techno-savvy” comedy.
“Big Bang Theory” is the Larry the Cable Guy of TV comedy. It plays on a stereotype (in this case “science nerds”), frequently resorts to lowbrow humor, and doesn’t make you think too hard. It “gets’r done”. That doesn’t make it bad, but it will never be great.
The idea that Community or Modern Family take risks strike me as odd. Modern Family, especially, is full of hacky jokes, old-fashioned characters and sappy lessons. It’s popular because it doesn’t take risks, not because it does.
Big Bang Theory may not be the riskiest show ever, but like Two and a Half Men it’s willing to ask us to like and sympathize with characters whose flaws aren’t sugar-coated, and to go for a minimalist style of storytelling that recalls the early days of “The Cosby Show.” I’m not saying it’s a work of genius, but Chuck Lorre was the only one willing to continue the Seinfeld/Everybody Loves Raymond type of comedy that doesn’t sentimentalize everything.
The stereotype that doing without an audience or a laugh track means being edgy and risky is one of the things that helped kill comedy in the ’00s. Writers thought they could bring back all the safe sitcom tropes (like My Names Is Earl’s life lessons) if they put it in a new wrapping.
“…one of the things that helped kill comedy in the ’00′s.” ????
Really? Arrested Development, Reno 911, Da Ali G Show, The Office, 30 Rock, Flight of the Concords, Summer Heights High, Eastbound and Down, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, How I Met Your Mother, Chappelle’s Show…
True, there are far less comedy shows on networks now than in the 90′s, but the vast majority of those were awful. In term of quality and in terms of comedy being allowed to go in new directions, the 00′s was easily one of the best decades for comedy on TV ever.
Thank you.
Except for the part about it not making it bad.
It IS bad. Bad writing. Sloppy, lazy, bad writing. Sorry, but it’s true.
Yes, I am a writer but I don’t hurl poop at this show because I’m jaded because I praise many other comedies like 30 Rock or Sunny in Philly (which is spotty, but when they’re on, they’re hilarious). There’s many comedies I love. I have no problem holding up examples of quality writing and I’m not jealous of those comedy teams kicking ass and making bucks.
But Big Bang is just not good, people. There are punchlines on this show that are not remotely clever, creative or funny and could be punched up with thirty seconds of thought…if they actually cared to punch them up. But they don’t.
Ah, to hell with it. Why bother complaining? I’ll just go watch something that’s created with genuine thought and a real work ethic. See ya.
What you see as lack of punching up is what makes the writing good. The characters don’t talk like robotic joke machines, they talk sort of like people and get laughs based on who they are. You don’t have to like it, but it sometimes takes more work to write funny stuff for characters who aren’t clever (they’re smart but they’re not clever, which is sort of the point) and develop the characters to a point that just Sheldon’s pain at saying “Thank you” to another human is funny.
Jesus Christ, what a pompous asshole you are.
This guy is a pompous asshole, which is pretty funny, because he’s being pompous about TV.. what a loser
i disagree. the big bang theory will go down in history as one of the most successful shows ever on the small screen. and thats why its “great”. to sit there and dismiss it is to ignore what works, why it works, and why Hollywood is in the television business. If you’re a writer and you want to be a generic “30 Rock”, go for it. But if you want to write a hit, study the hits, understand why they’re hits. don’t hate. learn. Television has hundreds of woulda-shoulda-coulda caution tales, critical darlings that fail to connect on a massive level. fine. smart writing, takes risks, whatever.. its only TV. Relax. And that’s not to say that The Big Bang Theory isn’t any of those things. Because it is smart, and it is original, and Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper is a brilliant tour de force performance.
“the big bang theory will go down in history as one of the most successful shows ever on the small screen. and thats why its “great”.”
This is exactly my problem. You’re equating ‘successful’ with quality. You actually believe that just because something is loved by a wide audience that automatically means it’s good. No, it does not.
I’m an adult who works in the industry — I understand that Big Bang and Twilight and Justin Bieber are huge hits that deliver entertainment to a big, satisfied audience. And there’s nothing wrong with that. But that doesn’t mean you’re going to catch me saying that their creators are smart, talented and worthy of study. Their creators know they’re making shit and they’re laughing all the way to the bank. And you know what? I’m actually fine with that because they are entertaining people, not hurting anyone and they’ve figured out how to make bank in a very tough industry.
What I’m not fine with is when mouth-breathers like you try to convince others that just because something has high ratings or opened at #1 at the box-office means it’s quality product put out by talented people. It makes me picture an ultra-desperate hack in a Hawaiian shirt frantically pitching Chuck Lorre’s assistant in a Starbucks with a concept that sounds like it was spit out by a “Hollywood Hit Formula” iPhone app.
In closing…please don’t refer to 30 Rock as generic (because you just sound dumb) and please know that I’ve enjoyed many sitcoms that aren’t considered ‘edgy’ or critical darlings. Raymond, King of Queens, Friends, etc. all entertain the hell outta me and I respect their craft so don’t try to paint me as some elitist.
“Lazy Comedy Writing Must Die” I’m not trying to paint you as an elitist, afterall you’re writing about TV. And TV people are considered scum. You’re one channel away from reality tv, the homeshopping network, and Fox News. And yeah, I’m hipper/cooler than you are and know which TV shows have indie cred… shows like Full House, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Sister, Sister, ect… So TV’s history is full of shitty shows that people enjoy, and to argue about whether its of quality or not is a waste of time, because its TV. So, my point is this, TV is 99% shitty, so making claims that The Big Bang Theory is a bad show, well, I’m gonna let you have that. Fine, its a terrible show just like every other fucking show thats on TV. Because.. ITS TV. Thats what TV is you fucking hack. Rant on about shows you perceive to be of quality, no one cares, and you’re not convincing anyone.
I’m basically the toughest/hippest audience in TV and apart of the new generation that doesn’t even watch prime time television. Because really, who has the time/gives a fuck whats on TV.. although, for me, The Big Bang Theory has become the exception. Maybe I’m wrong because I don’t watch any other comedy on network TV. I could care less honestly. Big Bang Theory is sooooo funny/smart/original, the cast has so much chemistry, its an homage to classic sitcom cliches yet has exciting/original takes on the format. I’m shocked at how I’m able to find the humor so clever in every episode week after week. Yes the show can be interpreted as a “throwback” and it does have a lot of broad/obvious humor, yet there are enough inside/smartass jokes to keep someone like me stimulated. i love this show so much. its classic tv reinterpreted for a new generation.
Ok, I cannot honestly read this and you take you seriously. Here are a few points to help your grammar along, so that people MIGHT be able to understand what you’re trying to say.
1) “I’m basically the toughest/hippest audience in TV and apart of the new generation that doesn’t even watch prime time television.”
• Though I appreciate you asserting yourself, “tough” and “hip” are not the same thing. You would be better served using a comma instead of a slash (and that goes for most of your paragraph).
• “Apart” vs. “a part” – The former relates to being separate, while the latter is inclusive.
• You’re part of a new generation? Are you part of “My Generation?”
2) If you’re going to start off your post with two sentences relentlessly bashing the medium, but argue that this one gem catches your eye, you’ve already made your opinion moot. Don’t exacerbate the review with, “Maybe I’m wrong because I don’t watch any other comedy on network TV.” Why do I care about what you have to say? Revise.
3) “I could care less honestly.”
• And I COULDN’T care less, honestly.
Sorry that this isn’t directly about TV, but damnit, go back to junior high and learn how to write.
Correcting my grammar in a feeble attempt to negate my point is taking me seriously. Also – this is the comment section of a blog post. You can proofread/correct 90% of the comments here, but its mine you’re correcting.. because I indirectly insulted you. I could care less.
Thanks Greenie — it’s clear now that “nightheat” is a kid who doesn’t watch any quality tv nor have any standards so it’s not hard to believe when he says he is SHOCKED at how clever/funny he finds The Big Bang Theory.
After all, his generation is the toughest/hippest alive now. They’re really tough critics because, you know, there’s other stuff to watch and do and who the f has the time, y’ know?
” Lazy Comedy Writing Must die”, you’re old and out touch bro. Watch “30 Rock” and LOL when Liz Lemon says something zany and think to yourself how far TV entertainment has come and how you’re different than all the other shows on TV and put out “quality writing”.
quality writing no one gives a fuck about.
I couldn’t agree more about Big Bang. I tried watching twice, I can’t get through the show nor understand its popularity, but I friends that love it and Jim Parsons; who is a low rent David Hyde Pierce at best. I agree – he’s a one trick pony. Once BBT disolves – he’ll disappear – with any luck. Mr. Pierce should be insulted by the comparisons. Two and Half Men is just as idiotic and How I Met Your Mother is just ridiculous. Yet folks love’em. Go figure.
I’ve wondered for a while now why BJ NOVAK was featured in the opening credits, especially during seasons where his character didn’t even appear. His character of Ryan was completely useless after he went to jail. That storyline about him becoming Michael’s boss was absolute gold and Ryan became an amazing and hilarious character, but once it ended there was no need for him to be on the show anymore. Now he appears dressed oddly and, like you said, has one or two lines per episode. He must have made some killer deal (since he is a producer on the show) to always be featured. The show has become campy and a parody and it’s quite sad. If you watch it from the first couple of seasons, the show is nothing like what it was. Should have ended two seasons ago. It’s obvious to say the show lost so much after the Jim/Pam tension ended, but it did: once they got together, the show should have ended. Done.
I’m speechless… I agree 100%. There is no more substance to the show anymore; no real story to follow. They should have ended the series long ago but they didn’t. I think certain shows should only be on for a certain amount of time and not dragged along like The Office. The Office was promising, there are so many things they could have written about. They should have kept Karen (Rashida Jones) and Holly (Amy Ryan) but they didn’t. It also seems like they are making the characters more dumber than before.
I’m betting the fact that BJ Novak is a producer and has written several episodes is why he’s still in the opening credits. Not that he deserves to be…
Betty White’s stint was wasted on ‘Community’ but other than that, it’s a fine show that deserves to find a larger audience. Loved the shot they took at ‘Shit my dad says.’
Shit My Dad Says was better than I expected. At least the gags were good. I laughed out loud multiple times which is rare with the comedies these days. The story was formulaic, the actors were bland except for Shatner. But all in all, I liked Shit better than Outsourced or Better With You. Sure, the concept of turning a twitter account into a TV show is horrible, but it actually turned out to be pretty good. Will & Grace was packed with snappy one-liners, and Kohan & Mutchnick brought that quality to Shit My Dad Says.
Not sure where you get “hard to follow” for “My Generation.” The reason the show is so awful is that the plots are so obvious and cliched. The overachiever in high school? Now he’s a loser who surfs all day. The pretty girl who wanted to be a star? Now she’s a bored housewife.
And the disgustingly lame way they involved stuff like Enron (TWO OF THE CHARACTERS WERE DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY ENRON) was just awful.
Such a bad show. But quite easy to follow.
Nikita is the best new show.
Thursday is too crowded.
My Generation just needs time to grow and find an audience. It had no lead in and awful ads but is solid, well crafted and well acted.
Agreed. Sure, it was kind of corny and cliched. But its a pilot for a show with NINE main characters – the ep was all exposition. Hopefully it will develop into something more fluid. will be interesting to see how it does next week
Yep, it had far, far, far too many characters. There simply was no time to get to know any of them. I don’t give a damn about any of them, and could care less what happens to them.
I had no knowledge of the show prior to watching it, so when I saw the doc-style I assumed it was a mockumentary comedy, one that was failing to be funny.
The documentary conceit doesn’t really work. It’s too cold and distanced from the characters. It may have helped if the camerawork was considerably better than it was.
While most of the new shows this week have bored me, this one I actively hated. I’d actively campaign for it to be canceled.
Very poor year for new shows this year, there’s only a couple that will make it, I think.
I want whatever you were smoking last night! Shit My Dad Says was… Shit! Mutchnick/Kohan are yesterdecades news.
I second that!
Fringe always has a healthy Live+7 uptick.
Shit My Dad Says did well because of the great Big Bang lead in and the curiosity factor. Now that everyone knows that the show is a big steaming pile of shit, the death march will begin…
The Betty White line on The Office was gold.
Anyone who has been following Noah Hawley’s Twitter feed or has had any dealings with him over the last six months is enjoying this.
Amen. I’ve had the “pleasure” of crossing paths with Mr. Hawley a bunch. He’s snarky about others’ work and his hubris is epic. Couldn’t happen to a nicer Narcissist.
Now wait a minute here. I’m not connected to Noah Hawley or the business at all. I’ve been Following Noah on Twitter since The Unusuals appeared on TV. I don’t see any of the narcissism you claim. The Unusuals was a brilliant series ABC would have been better off sticking with and let build. The minute I found out My Generation was based on a European series, I didn’t have high hopes — because it wasn’t something *Noah* created. He’d give it his all, but there’s only so much you can do when someone comes to you and says, “We don’t want anything of *yours*, but we’ll pay you money to do OURS — the way WE TELL YOU TO.” This is why TV is such crap. The networks have no business producing or owning their shows. Once Stephen J. Cannell sold his company (and good for him for seeing the trouble early!), it’s been all downhill from there, with Suits in offices thinking THEY can create. Puhleeze.
no one mentioned whether noah was talented or not, they just said he’s arrogant and boastful. take another look at his tweets, hard to disagree… i too have heard that he’s not the nicest where fellow writers are concerned.
I’ve never seen what you’ve seen. Maybe you’ve seen tweets he’s sent to others. I’ve only Followed, not gone to his Twitter page to read tweets he’s addressed to others I don’t Follow.
Well said Ted.
None of these shows are as well done as 90210. I’m spreading the herpes that is 90210. Herpes are “in”
I REALLY wanted to like Shit My Dad Says, but I just could not get passed the actor that plays Henry. It appears he’s trying too hard. I might give it one more chance, but I’m tempted not to….
S#!t My Dad Says sets the bar low. Obviously, it did well because it followed Big Bang. If it does well, it’ll just be a time slot success, not a content success. CBS dove for this shiny object but it’s just tin. Really? A show based on a Twitter account? Also, there’s no one to like in the cast. Shatner and Nicole Sullivan together? Hasn’t America been through enough?
“Really? A show based on a Twitter account?”
Really? A criticism that we’ve all heard six thousand times since it was announced last fall? You’re a little late on that one, chief. Forget the origins of the show. It’s on the air now — judge it by its merits. Did you even watch it?
Personally, I was impressed with what I saw. I’ll be tuning in next week.
“Personally, I was impressed with what I saw. I’ll be tuning in next week.”
Really? Did you even watch it?
I couldn’t believe how contriving Shatner’s acting was in this show.
I watched three minutes of this show and was enraged at how bad it actually was.
Thank goodness, Nimoy hasn’t sold out. With Fringe following at 9:00PM -I’m sure Abrams can find something for Shatner to do on there.

Outsourced is the only thing on TV worse than The Big Bang Theory. Bring back Parks & Rec.
Wow, someone criticizing Big Bang, but thinks Parks & Rec is a funny show…that’s rich.
Season one of Parks and Rec was not so good. In it’s second season, it became one of the top five funniest sitcoms on television.
I suppose someone who ends a post with “that’s rich”, probably is too busy hating his WASP children and pretending to not be gay to tune in, but you really should.
Found Outsourced oddly engaging.
Now Parks and Recreation (and The Office)… Carrel would have bailed years ago if he could have.
Nellie, the expression is “whopping,” not “whooping,” as in “the premiere was down a whopping 57% from last year’s premiere.” I thought it was a typo the first time, but it appeared again in today’s write-up.
Now: My Generation. Wasn’t this show done before on Fox? It was called “Reunion” and it at least had a prettier (albeit just as wooden)cast and a murder mystery that made me tune in for the premier during which I discovered it was totally crap and would be cancelled soon which it was. I’m not sure why the ABC execs I’ve met were so high on this: it’s boring. That should have been enough to kill it at the pilot stage. There was nothing to sustain it long term. ABC has tried this before with similar dismal results. “October Road” anyone? “What About Brian?”. “Six Degrees.” (Actually, now that I think about it all of those shows had J.J. Abrams behind them.) But Noah Hawley is not affiliated with J.J. so not sure why ABC indulged him as much as they did.
I really liked My Generation. The first half started slow, but the second half was great. Great music.
Nikita is ridiculous. How can a skinny, aging woman with no believable talent carry a show like that? Oh, that’s right. Little bikinis.
You kidding? Maggie Q and Lyndsey Fonseca are great on Nikita.
I bet Maggie could beat you up… She was trained by Jackie Chan. And convincingly kicked Bruce Willis’ butt in Die Hard 4.
Remember, weight has nothing to do with fighting ability.
I taped Shit My Dad Says and my DVR was pissed. Read the review.
I truly enjoyed My Generation. I found it original and relatable.
Searching on Twitter, most comments on Shit My Dad Says and Outsourced were bad, while people mostly liked My Generation. Therefore, ABC’s promo sucked, but let’s see what happens next week. Overall, there are too many shows premiering at the same time and that is not good for anybody.
Where did the actor from S#@t my Dad says come from? Henry that is..
I found him painful to watch. It seemed like he was trying too hard or something, but he had some pretty awkward interactions with Shatner.
Outsourced I thought might have some potential, but turned out pretty dull.
