The Guardian newspaper today published its inaugural Film Power 100 list, which places me at #90 among people able to shape the experience of film-viewing in the UK. I’m honored. (Deadline|London began at the start of 2010.)
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Saw this earlier and was pleased to see your name on the list, Nikki, especially with your ever-expanding Deadline London coverage. I was horribly depressed to see so few Brits on the list, especially in the top 20. I was pleased at the general prevalence of creatives over executives, though, and hope that’s a good sign. Although with Ed Vaizey at the political helm, I have my doubts.
Congrats!
Interesting (if occasionally bizarre) list. I’d have thought The Dark Knight and Inception earning a combined 1.8 billion would place Nolan higher than Pitt. His name on a poster will now sell more tickets, and he can pretty much make any movie he wants to now at Warner’s.
Before the inevitable moans about this list, bear in mind it’s people who affect BRITISH film goers, hence some British critics and industry people in there.
Congratalations Niki! next year #1!
About 15-16 women out of 100. Majority are actresses. Still better than the US would be. Congrats Nikki!
How the heck is Kristin Scott Thomas, Keira Knightley or Tilda Swinton on this list ? These females have no box-office clout. Of course, I can’t take this list seriously.
How can Will Smith not be in the top 25. Karate Kid did great box office. Of course Smith is the number box office actor.
How can Akiva Goldsman not be on the list?
