EXCLUSIVE: I hear TNT tomorrow will announce a 10-episode Season 3 pickup for the Sony TV-produced medical drama starring Jada Pinkett Smith. With The Closer, Rizzoli, Leverage, Memphis Beat and now Hawthorne all getting renewed, the only TNT summer series waiting its fate is Jerry Bruckheimer’s cop drama Dark Blue. While attracting about half of the audience of TNT’s Monday juggernauts The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles, Hawthorne has been a solid performer ratings-wise, with its audience averaging 3.4 million viewers. What’s more, it was used to successfully launch a new series this summer, the off-beat Memphis Beat. The renewal for the quirky cop show starring Jason Lee has been in the works for awhile, so I won’t be surprised if TNT announces the pickups of Hawthorne and Memphis Beat together the way it announced the renewals of its Monday dramas in one release in July. Hawthorne is executive produced by creator John Masius, Pinkett Smith, showrunner Glen Mazzara, Miguel Melendez and Jamie Tarses.

too bad. because that show is awful.
I AGREE THAT WAS THE WORST SHOW SHE STORMED IN LIKE SOME KIND OF SUPER HERO BREAKING ALL THE RULES MAKING THE DOCTORS LOOK REAL DUMB
The show feels like it is written by retired writers who have been out of touch for years-
its dated, boring and often painful, Jada dont waste anymore time on this, you have other great projects ahead of you GET OUT NOW- nobody cares about this little show anyway
Good for Jada. That show is turning into the little show that could. It wasn’t great to begin with but was so good by the end of the season.
“I’m a damn good nurse!” With trite drivel like this, it’s no wonder viewers are flocking to reality TV, YouTube, and video games. I can not believe shite like this can stay on the air.
Good for the jobs, sorry that is affirms the terror, JPS, treat your crew nicer!
Have to agree the quality of the show has risen since it first aired
Great for Jada I like the show and this season was good, just very short expected to receive at least a 13 episode order. At least its returning
As I stated, I also really enjoy the show jadafan, and also felt the episodes could have been longer. Jada and Vartan have excellent chemistry (just like he had with Nia Long on ‘Big Shots’), and I can’t wait to see the ‘out-come’ of Tom finding out about the ‘baby’.
P.S. I’m also hoping that they’ll pick up at least one ‘People’s Choice Award’. Take care jadafan and see you next year, God willing.
I casually watch Hawthorne and it’s an okay medical procedural. Congrats to Jada and the rest of the cast and crew. Dark Blue IMO is toast. The ratings have not improved and most fans hate the addition of Tricia Helfer. Unless Jerry Bruckheimer is willing to sell the show to TNT at a massive discount, it’s not coming back.
I have never missed an episode of Dark Blue. The chemistry betwween the cast members including Tricia Helfer is wonderful. I am in suspension the whole hour. Please do the right thing and renew this series.
Wanna watch the real deal in a nurse themed show? run, don’t walk to Showtime’s Nurse Jackie. It’s everything Hawthorne never became: brilliantly acted, written and produced. oh–and yeah Edie Falco won an Emmy. Wake up TNT–Jada’s a lox.
“Hawthorne has been a solid performer ratings-wise, with its audience averaging 3.4 million viewers.”
why is solid performer, if hawthorne one of the least watched tnt-dramas?
Hawthorne is the number THREE show on TNT, behind The Closer and Risoli & Isles.
It is rated better than Memphis Beat and Dark Blue. So get a grip and stop hatin’. Sure, it’s not a great show, but neither is The Closer or Risoli or MOST OF THE STUFF ON TV!!! But it obviously has and holds a audience, which is all u need to keep a show on the air.
Whether it is the number three show on TNT makes no difference, it is the worst written and has the worst acting. Jada Pinkett Smith is unwatchable
The show has improved since the first season (which I found to be unbearably awful). It is one of the lower rated shows on TNT however, 3.4 is decent to good in the world of scripted cable. The Glades on A&E is considered a success and isn’t its ratings around that? I could name a couple of other shows whose ratings don’t quite get up to 3.5 and they are considered successful on their particular cable networks. That said, with Dark Blue ratings not really improving, I wonder if HawthoRNe will be able to make it another season as the not quite lowest rated show on the network. I agree with Don J, Dark Blue doesn’t look like a likely renewal (unless there is some deal we don’t know about). And for the record, I think the Tricia Helfer addition is not a problem, I don’t think they should have gotten rid of Omari Hardwick’s character’s wife. Seems like they changed too much without making it better or more interesting.
I need Dark Blue to come back too. Omari Omari Omari
RACIAL EQUALITY IN HOLLYWOOD!!
This is a real breakthrough. Now my people have the right to do crappy, bad acting and bad writing and still succeed!
YES WE CAN!
Wow…let’s hear it for a mediocre show led by a mediocre (AT BEST…seriously, this woman is insufferable both personally and professionally) actress married to the mediocre (YET POWERFUL) executive producer.
The only silver lining in this is the continued employment of the crew…
Glad to see Hawthorne coming back. The only medical series on regular cable or network TV.
Dark Blue is done. Adding Tricia Helfer ruined the show IMO. And they made the show too light. Dark Blue worked when it was at its grittiest.
Lets hope that Southland stays gritty and even gets darker and grittier.
Awesome. It’s really picking up since this past season. And, any excuse to see Vanessa Lengies.
If it’s true, *Congrats* to Jada, the other actors, and the crew behind this worth-while watching drama. Ned, dddd, NCFBM, gout, Bam Bam, derby, guess that’s why there’s “freedom of speech”, as NO ONE ever said we’d ALL agree with everything we saw on tv or in the movies for that matter.
Sadly, it was comments close to yours that took actor *Michael Vartan’s* last series “Big Shots” off of ABC, along with the ‘so-called’ critics who stomped on it ‘before’ it ever got the chance to really get off the ground (mean while Vartan and actress ‘Nia Long’ were the most watched couple on the show, and very likely could have had their own show because their ‘chemistry’ was that good, but once again with ‘voices like yours and the critics the coffin was nailed shut, quicker than you could spit’.).
NO ONE said that ‘many’ of these shows are that ‘accurate’, but I’m here to let you know that some of the incidents, especially the last episode with the hospital almost closing, is more ‘true’ than you might realize. Those ‘incidents’ have been ‘right on the mark’, because I know of 3 hospitals that merged and 2 of them ended up closing in the long run.
Lastly, Shaune, Lost Soul, *Jadafan*, P. Lee, and foreigner fan, thanks so very much for ‘your’ input, it meant much more than you might even realize. “Quality” programming is going down the toilet as far as I’m concerned, and the “reality show craze” isn’t going to make the situation any better. “Why pay actors for quality rated shows, when you can put on reality crap like the Bachelor, Bachelorette, etc.?” So, once again *Congrats* to all involved, and God willing I hope to see you again next summer. “Keep bringing it” and I’ll keep watching, despite what anyone says to the contrary.
I love the show it is so good:) Jada your’re doing your thing and all the haters can kick rocks! It takes alot to do what you do and for those who can’t appreciate it, let’m try to do what you do and see how far they get before falling on their face. Can’t wait to watch the next season i know its going to be great:)
love hawthorne can not wait for 3 season. started off late, but when i got into it i enjoyed it.
I love this show. Jada does an excellent job. Everyone at my job talks about it. Stop hating, if you do not like the show, more than likely your a pessimistic person. I really can nit wait to see the new season.
I Love This show. It show a real nurse. Sometimes they can’t leave work at work. A lot of medical personel turn off their emotions completely. Forgetting why the went in that field in 1st place. Hawthorne shows the other side. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
