TORONTO: It’s crunch time for deal makers at Toronto. The Four Seasons lobby, crammed since Friday, was empty at lunchtime. Across the street at the Park Hyatt, nobody’s left but the junket crowd. While there are some terrific Toronto-premiered films that are in play, nothing has closed since the 7-figure Sunday deals for Super and Dirty Girl. The closest thing to fresh action so far today is Magnet Releasing capturing North American rights to Chawz, a Korean film about a rampaging killer pig. Let’s hope for an afternoon rally!

sounds like things are pretty dead in the big smoke.
Didn’t sound like a great deal of audience winners in the Festival this year. And these companies and the studios behind them are still greedily trying to hold on to all the money in Hollywood. Massive record profits and they are bfing the golden goose.
This is what happens when an industry gets taken over by the evil grads of the even more evil Harvard Business School.
Some smart distributer needs to buy Girlfriend. I was lucky enough to see it, and it’s amazing.
“The closest thing to fresh action so far today is Magnet Releasing capturing North American rights to Chawz, a Korean film about a rampaging killer pig.” – Speaks volumes or could just be some tough negotiations going on still.
Curious to hear what’s happening with BEAUTIFUL BOY. Was at the premiere on Sunday and the audience reaction was pretty intensely positive. Tough topic, but amazing film.
IM Global has been closing several massive deals all day. You should leave the Four Seasons and make your way over to the Hyatt Regency…it is the epicenter of the festival…
I saw Max Winkler’s CEREMONY last night its incredible and should sell.
I’d have to second that. Max Winkler’s movie is so sweet and so winning, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be able to lock down a distributor.
