EXCLUSIVE UPDATED: Law & Order: Los Angeles co-star Wanda De Jesus is exiting the upcoming NBC series. De Jesus filmed two episodes of the Law & Order spinoff playing Lieutenant Arleen Gonzales, the cool and authoritative captain of the LAPD Robbery Homicide Division. I hear that after two episodes, the producers on the Wolf Films/UMS procedural decided to take the role in a different direction. (The character already had been tweaked once, having originally been written as a male.) De Jesus’ scenes will be reshot, and meetings are underway with potential replacements. Series regularly do recastings after the pilot. Since LOLA went straight to series, the show’s producers have to make adjustments as they go. NBC is said to be interested in possibly casting De Jesus, who is the significant other of Jimmy Smits, star of NBC’s new fall series Outlaw, in another project. LOLA stars Skeet Ulrich, Corey Stoll, Alfred Molina, Terrence Howard, Megan Boone and Regina Hall.

And NOW Wanda de Jesus on LOLA!!! And now fans of “Law & Order: CI” are trying to get the USA Network to replace it with a “Law & Order: Miami”!

Yep. Something’s going on – but I’m not surpised by any NBC-shows having bad things going on behind the scenes. Remember, the show with Becki Newton is also in turmoil…

He played a pimp in Hustle and Flow. Now he’s playing a lawyer on Law and Order. Those two are definitely not the same roles my friend.

I honestly will have a hard time checking out any new NBC show. I’ve avoided the network so long that it simply does not occur to me to even switch to channel 6 (my local NBC channel). And after what NBC did to Conan, and the fact that it still employs the rude sociopath Jay Leno, is enough for me to not even give them a chance. Why would any show producer even want to be linked to this muck?
On the other hand, I think the CW of all places has a pretty solid lineup. And Nikita was better than promised.
I heard that the CI rumor with Saffron Burrows leaving was true! Thus I think “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” is (or should be) canceled. It was said D’Onofrio unofficially announced in August that he wasn’t planning a return.

I don’t think fans of past/future NBC shows should boycott NBC for some Jeff Zucker bull that happened in 2009-2010, just fire that fool! Conan’s getting a show on TBS ANYWAY! Let that crap die already. I could see if Conan wasn’t getting anything!

I am Canadian. Show was the time of the death penalty for the fugitive fled to Canada and we have refused to extradite him because he had the death penalty. The whole episode was a liberal anti-Canadian and the death penalty.

I understand Paula Patton left SVU for Mission Impossible. That’s high profile and will do more for her career.
This should happen; cancel “Law & Order: CI”, replace it with “Law & Order: Miami” (on USA Network). Transfer Wanda De Jesus and Paula Patton to Miami as the commanding officer and the ADA!

Well, apparently Wanda wasn’t gelling with the rest of the cast so to speak. And since Law & Order: Los Angeles is a ensemble cast, she had to go. I’m sad that she will be leaving I thought she would have been the second coming of Lt. Van Buren.
And yes Saffron Burrows is said to be leaving as well, but it’s in rumor status until further notice.
I bet they will have really great actors in supporting roles on a semi-weekly basis once the plot lines get defined. I always like the law and order shows bringing in actors as defendants, accused killers, pimps and whores…and then the men and women who work in
the DA’s office. Those are really roles where you can make a name for yourself. I look forward to the series and then seeing those actors on the local golf links in LA.
Oh enough already. Conan leaving NBC was the first sign of hope at that network in ages. It regained respect and interest of viewers, despite what some random troll posts on every unrelated NBC article. Rooting for NBC as CBS is an unwatchable frat house. Gotta agree though, Terence Howard is a creep.

Terrence Howard was terrific in Lackawanna Blues and Iron Man and Hustle and Flow. I’m looking forward to seeing him in LOLA.
Wanda de Jesus was one of the few bright spots for LOLA, which is a tired rehash of Law and Order. I hope she lands on a quality series as a cast regular. Judging by the first two episodes, LOLA is bland and lifeless with 2-dimensional characters and no development of them. I’d be surprised if LOLA finds enough viewers to keep it alive beyond the 1st season. NBC would have done better by renewing the original Law and Order for the record 21st season; this way, Dick Wolf would have received his long-awaited record for longest television series and the viewing public would have a better show to watch. The characters of the original Law and Order were much more colorful and interesting, even the Nick Cutter character. I thought the chemistry between Detectives Bernard and Lupo was intriguing and on a par between Detective Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and any of the three detectives he was paired with.
Finally, if you haven’t heard already, Vincent D’Onofrio has signed on to return to Law and Order Criminal Intent to reprise his Detective Goran character for an 8-episode encore season to end the series. I don’t know if he will fly solo or be paired with another detective.
I agree: SOUTHLAND is a great show–I’m glad TNT had the brains to pick it up. ‘Can’t wait for the new season in January.
I generally have been a great fan of Law and Order since it first started 20 years ago; however, Law & Order Los Angeles is quite boring: it needs A LOT of work.
Wanda is one of the most annoying actors/actress’s to ever act. Saw the movie “Blood Work” and the movie would have been better without her. She seemed so amateur.
