is this how they takle control ?
never give up… never surrender…
[hanen’t we heard that b e f ore ? : ))
HerbieFrog… wha’ the hell are you talking about?
Pyken – ha! Well deserved drubbing.
Will any of these people do anything to help guild writers? Will any of them help to stop the studio from forcing writers to do re-writes for free, or polishes under the threat of if you don’t maybe your project will just go away?
Imagine SAG allowing an actor to work for months without being paid. Or the DGA allowing a director’s contract to be ignored. Congratulations new WGA board members, now go out there and make some fucking changes in this pathetic excuse for a union…please!
George, you took the words out of my mouth. Why is it that guys who drive trucks have a better union than writers? Imagine asking a teamster to work for a few weeks for free. If the WGA can’t protect writers, writers need to unite anew and band together to stop the abuse. This is a story that Nikki should be writing about. Writers: STOP DOING FREE REWRITES! Without us, they have nothing.
George and Anon are right–the WGA has a sorry history of bloviation and then, ALWAYS….capitulation. It wastes time and money on useless crap (junkets, symposia, doomed efforts to organize non members, a laughably irrelevant PAC) while its members suffer from free rewrites, late pay, dwindling residuals, criminally low shares of DVD sales, etc. Will this new board make a difference? I sure as shit doubt it.
Here’s to hoping this new Board will now get rid of the Executive Director and his stooges.
Brad’s right–the WGA will be in the shitter as long as David Young is there. John Wells: We voted for you for a reason. Clean house!
