EXCLUSIVE: Kelly Ripa is ready for more daytime-primetime double duty with Port Love, a new comedy project at ABC. Ripa and her husband, actor Mark Consuelos, will co-write the story for the single-camera project, with Consuelos set to star and Ripa to recur. Both will executive produce through their production company Milojo Prods. Port Love, from ABC Studios, is a workplace comedy set at a formerly popular network series and revolves around the cast and crew who have more backstage drama in their lives than in the actual show they’re working on. Jeffrey Hodes and Nastaran Dibai (According to Jim) will co-write the story with Ripa and Consuelos. Hodes and Dibai will write the script and will executive produce with the 2 actors and Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment. Ripa and Consuelos’ producing partner Albert Bianchini also is expected to produce the project, which has received script commitment.
In February, Ripa will mark her 10-year anniversary on Live with Regis and Kelly, the veteran syndicated daytime talk show produced by Disney-ABC. She previously juggled her duties on Live and a primetime comedy series when she starred for 3 seasons on the ABC sitcom Hope & Faith. There she met Hodes and Dibai who did a stint as executive producers. Last development season, Hodes and Dibai created the ABC comedy pilot Funny in Farsi, which the two executive produced with Kaplan. Ripa and Consuelos recently reprised their roles on the long-running soap All My Children in a two-episode arc.

I just put a bullet in my head.
Awesome, I know this one will work out for them, good luck to them on this new venture, cannot wait to see this show. It should be very interesting and a whole lot of fun for us viewers.
Mark Consuelos and a writer from According To Jim. You can’t go wrong with that combo.
As a comedy writer with several competing projects in development, I would like to commit to jumping off the highest ledge if this or the Wilmer Valderrama project gets picked up over mine or one of the other not completely idiotic projects bought this development season…
I am so happy to read about ABC developing a comedy with Kelly and Mark as Producers! We need more comedy shows. Both Kelly and Mark are great actors. I have followed Kelly Ripa’s career since the AMC days!
As a comedic actress myself, I am happy to hear of more tv comedy’s, giving me more projects to audition for, hopefully!

Keepin’ it Real!
Rippa with another sitcom? With the same untalented producers of “Hope and Faith?” I can’t decide what’s more pathetic: the un-inventive concept of watching famous people playing out “being behind the scenes” genre, or her getting her husband a job. Either way, Rippa is like a tiny stimulus package. Without her, none of these people would be working.
I love Kelly Ripa. I think she’s smart, pretty, and talented. Good for her! But I agree, is this the best team she could find after being in television for over 2 decades? C’mon Kelly! It’s like a gourmet dinner being served on paper plates.
Well, looks like Regis will be doing some more “guest starring” roles. Look for him about every other week when the ratings tank.
pass.
Agree on Kelly, but obviously, you never saw FUNNY IN FARSI. Hodes & Dibai are great — don’t be a dick.
It should be called “Please Shoot Me”!
I’m surprised she didn’t go the reality show route instead.
Single or multi cam?
Funny In Farsi should have been picked up. would have fit better at 8:30 with ABC wed comedies than Better With you, probably would have been better reviewed and I still dont understand why it wasnt picked up
Who chose this photo! Look at his eyes!!!
Great News! I loved Hope & Faith. It was funny hilarious silly comedy. I always knew I could sit down turn on Hope & Faith and get a laugh out within 30 seconds. I really hop this show gets picked up and does well! and I hope Kelly is more than a recurring character, I hope she is a series regular!!
Anyone that enjoyed Hope and Faith has to be a moron. That was the most ridiculous show. Mark has no talent and Kelly acted like the idiot that she is. This show will be put on the air for people to ridicule just as they did Hope and Faith. Well, I guess the production company paid for by Kelly is to keep mark from sitting home playing video games and watching sexy movies on TV while Kelly is working. It is a shame you have to pay to keep your man.
I wondered why Funny in Farsi never got picked up. All you had to do is explain the premise and people laughed out loud. The script was great-actors relative unknowns but were wonderful-and with Barry Sonnenfeld directing the final product must have been hysterical. I think the production designer was the same one Barry worked with on Pushing Up Daisys-and those sets were great. I assume he did a bang up job on this one…Hey ABC show it now
you really got me going. BTD
The article should be about whoever their agent is. How do you keep lame writers like that getting pilots? Hats off to whoever he/she is. And stop asking people if they’ve seen FUNNY IN FARSI. The answer is, NO. No one saw it because it was never picked up…because it suuuuuuuucked.
Did you actually see it? I was one of the few who did. It’s actually very well done. Funny and full of heart but not sappy. If you’ve actually seen it, describe one scene, one shot. You can’t. ‘cuz you’re just a hater.
I do really think Ms. Kelly Ripa has the luckiest managers, agents, accountants in the Hollywood.
“Funny in Farasi” was not funny in English and that’s why it didn’t get picked up. Ripa what are you doing hiring the writers from “Hope and Faith”? I guess you didn’t learn the first time. Or you ABC…
I don’t know why I’m even commenting on this because we will never hear about this project again. Hodes and Dibai are comedy killers in any language.
Have you worked with Hodes & Dibai? Because I have, on more than one show, and they’re the nicest people and very professional show runners. You sound like a very hateful person, which means you’re either NS or RR. You don’t have to like them, but anybody this mean doesn’t really know them.
I’ve worked with Hodes & Dibai on two shows. They are the nicest people, really professional show runners. One of my best staff experiences ever. You’re obviously just full of hate. Bitter, bitter, bitter. If you’re this nasty, you don’t really know them that well. Hater.
You’re so clever. Good times tho– Just thought I’d return the favor : )
What was your name again? Oh yeah, America doesn’t remember it, either.
Kelly is a Megastar. Mark is underrated… He’s a great actor. Together, they are lightning in a bottle. I feel like they’ve tried this concept before. I hope this one goes!
I like Ripa but wtf… a behind the scenes show is an idea that should be dead. People in the real world do not think that inside jokes from the entertainment industry are funny. Oh the teamster is sleeping again, haha. Come on people… creativity please.
Wow – what an original concept. Aside from the disgusting nepotism and the obvious fear of executives to seek new talent, when will Hollywood try new concepts, break new careers, and make TV and Film that is innovative and moves entertainment forward? We need to hire people, like De Luca when he was young, who’s fearlessness is WHY we got into this business!
she can’t act without regis and he is a loser without a job.
Say what you want about Kelly Ripa. She has a strong work ethic.
She could be taking it easy with her daytime gig, but she is always out there taking on other jobs. Good for her. And good luck to Kelly and Mark on the new show.
Apparently Kelly got tired of Mark not working…so they have to create their own show….
Just think of all the unemployed people in this country…we should all be given the opportunity to create our own TV show.
