Don’t Tell Mom My Creative Reservoir Is Dead!
Couldn’t have said it better
Guess I’m not the only one to notice the parallels to the Christina Applegate flick.
But I think I’d have gone with:
Don’t Tell Mom I’m pulling a Hannah Montana except I’m in Fashion.
Didn’t we also see this in Arrested Development?
I thought the same thing too but it’s completely possible-no-probable that the writers came up with that premise on their own and I’m sure that that movie never came up with that premise either. Hell, many grifter flicks resemble that premise as well.
Did the babysitter die and start these chain of events?
Wow. I just wish I could have been in the room when this was pitched as an ORIGINAL idea. Are they going to cast Christina Applegate as the unassuming mother this time around?
This is almost the exact premise of that horrid TEENICK series TRUE JACKSON: VP. Lame.
Also, the first comment is hilarious, and so true.
Great concept. Me thinks it’s going to work.
Did you just say “me thinks”? Ewwww.
Erica Dasher is HOT!!! Cant wait to see her in this!! sounds cute!! Its ABC Family, which I watch!!
Would you like some Miracle-Gro?
She is gorgeous!!!! Grew up in Texas I believe…
Yes she is and yes she was.
Texas grows ‘em good!!!
I’ll give it a chance.I’m pretty much done with The CW, and ready to move on to ABC Family.
I’d rather watch reruns of that Gavin Polone cartoon that was on here awhile ago. For the win.
This series…Don’t Tell But It’s Gonna Be An Epic Fail.
“It’s like.. Hannah Montana meets The Devil Wears Prada!!”
i’m pretty sure this is how they pitched it!:)
I saw Erica Dasher in “The Lake”- she’s fabulous. The new show sounds like a hit. Can’t wait to see it all “unfold”!
Oh Cool.I loved Erica Dasher as Madison Davenport in The Lake. Cute show.So glad we get to see more of her.
I think this show is going to be more like Devil Wears Prada or Princess Diaries. Erica is soooo classy and sooo Ann Hathaway!
Perfect casting!!
I can’t wait to find out what Jane WILL do!!!
Let me guess, you’re her agent, or publicist. Good job!
As others have said before totally unoriginal, most recently done on TV (albeit in the movie world instead of fashion) as a story line on Arrested Development….
Finally someone mentions the obvious. Arrested Development at least made the improbable hilariously probable.
How stupid would the adults (not counting this chick who doesn’t at all look 16) in this show have to be to not figure out that she’s a teenager? Possibly not as stupid as the viewers who’ll watch the show.
“Don’t tell Mom but this repeated POST has become unoriginal!
Exlaimation points are not the only form of punctuation!!
She did grow up in Texas and will do a wounderful job. We will be watching ABC Family!
Bull… Maybe when “Sue Ellen Crandle” pulled this improbable feat in 91′ it was more believable.
But in these tough economic times, even people with degrees from NYU can’t even find jobs as an Executive Assistant. So I highly doubt a 16 year old would be able to land a job like this without having a mastery of ALL MS Office Programs and surviving a background check (which are getting tougher and tougher and are even extending to checking your credit in some cases).
These “ideas” for new shows are getting sillier and sillier.
They’re TV shows; not real life.
Leave your brain at the door and just enjoy the ride.
How is this anything like don’t tell mom the babysitter is dead?
Wow. They might as well cancel this series based on these comments from people who haven’t seen the show or even read the script. I, for one, think it’s a cute premise, and I will give it a chance.
Sounds great! As long as there are no CSI or Vampire plot lines, I’ll give it a shot.
I went to school with Erica for a few semesters at Arizona State University. We actually hung out a bit and sat next to each other in a class. She is as brilliant as she is beautiful, and I wouldn’t be the least surprised if she ends up directing one day.
It is going to be amazing!!
Spread the word.
COME ON! Its a teen/family series. How original can it actually be? The writers and producers have done some cool stuff over the years. Gavin Polone produced Arrested Development and Gilmore Girls. At least this theme isn’t on every channel I mean do we really need FIVE Law & Order and four CSI shows? Talk about unoriginal! Beverly Hills 90210 and I like several ABC Family shows, Pretty Little Liars is a new fav.
What Would Jane Do? sounds fun, and Erica is cute. YEA for ABC casting new talent!!! AND casting her in the lead. She was in web series The Lake last summer and that was pretty good, not necessarily original…it didn’t get picked up to television, but you can still see it on thewb.com. I think that’s all she’s done professionaly so far, so kudos to her!! I am looking forward to the show and watching a new career develop. She is talented and I hope we will be watching her for years to come
I meant to say up in that Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place again? GEEZ! THAT is not unoriginal?…Anyway, I am with Team Jane!!!
They;re keeping her real age quiet…just like 30-year-olds playing teens on 90210
