I hear ABC Family is close to giving a back order to Melissa & Joey. The size of the order is believed to be between 10-12 additional episodes. No surprise here – ABC Family brass has been happy with the performance of the freshman comedy, which premiered in June as ABC Family’s biggest ever series debut among adults 18-49, 1.3 million. In total viewers, Melissa & Joey, which stars Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence, drew 2.2 million viewers, the most watched comedy series debut ever for the cable network.

“ABC Family brass has been very happy with the performance of the freshman comedy,”
yeah. right. good start and then the ratings have plummeted immediately.
the last episode had a series low, below 1M viewers. and the series in 18-34 is very-very low from the ger go.
It’s formulaic, but it’s light fare that you can watch with the family. Now they just need to pair it with something else. Joey and Melissa have very good chemistry with one another.
Maybe they are also looking at the website figures, I NEVER watch the show on my Dish Network, but I’ve seen ever episode. The days of viewers sitting down an watching a show at an exact time are long gone. ABC Family like ABC the network looks at the whole picture. Lost wouldn’t have don’t that great if they had relied on just the Nielsen numbers, but factor in Itunes downloads, Webcasts, and Nielsen number and you have a successful series.
Oh and that 18-34?, what a narrow view. Think outside the box, there are more viewers than 18-34 otherwise CBS wouldn’t be in business and as successful as it is.
do Melissa and Joey have a photo of the president of ABC Family Channel having sex with a goat? Because I can’t understand this.
Wow, funny goat-comment-guy! Sorry you don’t understand it but I am guessing there is not much you DO understand. Let me explain it. I will use small words.
Really funny lead actors. A premise that has worked before. Really solid writing. Cute kids.
Still don’t get it? Perhaps that is why you are home in your pajamas while they are getting a pick up.
btw: I love the show. Good for ABC Family.
Love Melissa and Joey..its actually very funny and well written..so happy its doing well for abc family and has gotten a back episode order..i will keep watching
Melissa H and Joey L helped build the Disney Channel brand back in the day, and this is nice way to keep them in the “Family” over there. And the show is modeled after the Channel’s concept that you can put your kid in front of the tube and never ever worry they might hear or see something obscene. It is utterly safe viewing, and no other channels can make that claim.
Marsh knows what he’s doing.
Joey’s bald. ‘Nuff said.
Thank you.
I think there’s room on TV for nice shows that are funny and that parents can watch with their kids. Congratulations to those writers and actors for still making something for families… and hey, networks, FAMILIES spend most of the money out there so they are the audience you want.
