HBO has Al Pacino moving from Jack Kevorkian to playing Phil Spector in a film directed by David Mamet. I can tell you that Cameron Crowe tried for years to make a studio feature film about Mr. Wall Of Sound with Tom Cruise playing the gun-toting volatile record producer. But eventually they dropped it because at the time they felt there wasn’t a third act. By the time it arrived, there was no way Crowe and Cruise would have been able to make an authorized film… IFC acquired North American and a few other territories on the David Robert Mitchell-directed The Myth of the American Sleepover… Kris Kristofferson has joined Morgan Freeman, Harry Connick Jr, and Ashley Judd in Alcon’s 3D Dolphin Tale.
And In Other Film Deals…

Al Pacino as Phil Spector? That’s some clever casting but even the current Al Pacino will have to ham it up a level or two to to catch a glimpse of Spector’s lunacy.
personally, I think Andy Dick would be a better Phil Spector.
Hair and Make-up, And the Emmy goes to…
Does anybody know if Al Pacino is still doing a script called Arbitrage? That is one of my favorite scripts and he is perfect for it.
Yes, it is up for sale to int’l distributors at next week’s AFM. Starring Eva Green as Julie and Susan Sarandon (rumored) as Pacino’s wife. Sold by GK Films (formerly IEG).
I love Morgan Freeman he’s an excellent actor! I’ll certainly watch this movie.
I’m sure Amato will hire his daddy Barry Levinson to direct.
Amato is very limited in his scope over at HBO films. He has been a disappointment to say the least. He doesn’t care for stories that didn’t happen in his lifetime. Mini-series is where it is at.
