The Big Bang Theory has made Johnny Galecki a hot property, and now he’s in final negotiations to star in New Regency’s untitled sci-fi movie from Andrew Niccol that used to be called I’m Mortal. He’s joining already-announced Justin Timberlake, Olivia Wilde, Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy in a not-so-distant future in which the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency with which people pay for things. Galecki will be playing Timberlake’s best friend. He’s repped by CAA and Untitled. Eric Newman, Marc Abraham, Kristel Laiblin and Andrew David are producing.

YAWN…..
The headline should read: Darlene’s BF Gets New Gig!
Logan’s Run knockoff. I bet Joel Silver can’t be too happy.
What a boring choice. This guy sucks
Andrew Niccol is a rock star even if his films don’t gross well. I look forward to this.
I guess you’ve never seen Logan’s Run, or you didn’t read the description above too closely.
I think he was getting at the time as currency thing. That was a huge part in the original book.
The script is very different from LOGAN’S RUN but unfortunately it does still suck. I sincerely hope that Niccol has put the time into rewrites in order to fashion a script worthy of such a great cast.
Lil J’s Ahhhh-wesome! Class act.
“Christmas Vacation” anyone?
Justin is enjoying doing a movie now, is he planning to refrain from his singing career? Hmm, not bad at all, great to try more exciting challenges in our lives.
I’m going to give this a fair shot because I’m a fan of the odd combo of J. Timberlake + Sci-Fi. I’m one of the three people who saw Southland Tales and loved it.
Only thing I enjoyed in Southland Tales was JT’s miming of the Killers song.
Andrew Niccol knows Sci-fi.
The cast of Timberlake, Murphy and Seyfried is intriguing.
When is this one coming out?
I went to junior high school with Galecki in Oak Park, Illinois.
He’s obviously most likely changed a bit since then (I hope), but he was a conceited little nitwit back then.
ROSEANNE made Johnny Galecki a hot property, NOT Big Bang Theory.
I think Johnny Galecki needs to leave Big Bang Theory and strike out on his own doing his show, his way. He needs to shine all on his own without Jim Parsons.
Johnny Galecki needs an Emmy since he has more experience than all the other actors on Big Bang Theory.
They give out awards for experience now? I guess I was naive to assume awards like the emmys are for talented performances.
“Justin Timberlake Sci-Fi Film?” OMG! Are they already calling this a “J.T.” movie? Seem like they are pertaining that he’ll be the “most able and big star” from the rest of the cast, when…
Firstly, Niccol initially cast Seyfried and then Murphy to it (which made me excited because they are underrated actors with raw and huge talent, great acting skills and real diversity. But when they attached JT, I was rather disappointed than pleased). They could have chosen the “best” young actor to match their level (especially for the male leading role. Maybe JT is good in supporting roles, as he always is, but leading role? I doubt). They could have gotten the likes of Emile Hirsch, Ryan Gosling, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, you know what I mean? Plus studying the cast, he’s the weakest from Seyfried, Murphy, Kartheiser, Galecki and Wilde.
Secondaly, I honestly don’t really get the hype with his performance in The Social Network. I’m not saying he’s bad, but he’s not great either. I mean, he’s just okay. Not far from his performances in Alpha Dog and Black Snake Moan, but I can say he improved a little bit.
Finally, perhaps he’s apparently the most famous from the cast, but (talent in acting wise) he has so much to prove and improve first to fit with the rest of the great cast – and to even call this a “JT sci-fi film”!
You seem to have problem with the film being labeled JT’s Sci-fi.
Is he not the lead in the film?
I don’t see what you are complaining about.
