Kate Hudson has signed with CAA. The actress started at ICM and then moved to CAA when she broke out with a Golden Globe Award and an Oscar nomination for Almost Famous. Four years ago, she moved to Endeavor and most recently was repped by WME. She most recently starred in Nine, and her upcoming films are Something Borrowed and A Little Piece of Heaven.

She’s better off with CAA. She did a bunch of dramas before and it could showcase her talent again besides cheesy romcom
While understanding the professional obligation for Deadline to report agency moves – and one of the few that consistently is on the tenpercentery vein – I can’t imagine this move will upgrade Ms. Hudson’s future performances unless she’s willing to make a radical transition in her roles.
ALMOST FAMOUS was an eon ago in H’wood terms.
and she STILL can’t act.
Isn’t that another two percenter gonsky? Who has WME signed to make up for all they’ve lost since the merger?… And no one better say Reba McEntire.
Meba RcIntyre
Charlize Theron?
There’s no way she pays 10%
Why don’t we all move to CAA? How many is that in the past couple months? A-Rod helped her career more than Nine.
Hear that ticking….her 15 minutes are up…..NOW!
She should stop pretending to be an actress already. Does anyone go to a Kate Hudson movie? I think not
ARod helped her movie career???? That is so laughable. If anything, she helped his baseball career. What are his postseason stats this year? What were they last year? And what were they every postseason before that? Hmmm, I think I see a pattern there with a clear break in the pattern last year… Stupid, stupid comment.
I think you better look at Arod postseason stats again and not make stupid comments.
Kate Hudson could be the greatest, sexiest, most unpretentious person in the world in real life. But on screen, she’s very flat. And HD isn’t doing her any favors.
Do you know how sexist that comment is? She is 31 years old and doesn’t look a day over. Flat on screen? You must not have seen Nine. Kate was the best thing about that film. She absolutely sparkled and practically popped off the screen in her number. She has amazing talent. I would like to see her do more musicals.
Oh stop. Calling a woman sexy isn’t sexIST and it is true, HD is NOT doing her any favors, that’s just the nature of the technology – it shows more flaws and wrinkles on anyone’s face, especially an actress who many of us still imagine to be the 20 year old in Almost Famous. She’s clearly not that anymore.
And Kate was NOT the best thing in Nine. She was utterly insipid compared to Marion Cotillard and Penelope Cruz. She ultimately a very, very lucky, cute but not gorgeous, competent actress who hit it out of the park her first time at bat.
who cares
I loved Kate in “Skelton Key” which was like 6 years ago. It’s sad though; I’m working on two films both of which will fly. Unfortunately, Kate’s name wasn’t even mentioned in our top 10 potential leads. The competition is that fierce… It’s sad to think an actress with over 2 dozen films under her belt needs a breakout hit at the age of 31. This is such a crazy business.
anyone know who signed her?
Who cares. They are all the same. At that level everyone knows everyone and it’s one big circle jerk.
Silly.
Thank you.
CAA promised the packaging etc.?
CAA = Collecting All Actresses
That is so great for her.
Kate is great and everyone loves her.
Is Reese Witherspoon available?
Instead of constantly switching agencies she should take some acting lessons.
Not that this is a major coup, but has anyone heard of WME making any significant actor signs lately? I honestly doubt they’ll be any bigger than they are now, and they seem so bruised by the initial exchanges with CAA (every one of which they lost in my opinion), that they’re not competitive anymore.
Just another talentless blonde falling up. It doesn’t matter in Hollywood so long as you have the right “look.”
If she were Asian or Latina or Black or Indian, she’d be cocktail waitress-ing on Sunset and shooting American Apparel ads for the rent money.
If she focused on her career like she did her love life, she’d probably have an Oscar by now. She’s had too many chances to prove her talent in this unforgiving business. Let’s see if CAA can make a miracle happen or if she’ll fall behind the list of other actresses they have that always beat her out in roles anyway. That said, who cares.
So what if someone cares more about their personal life than their professional life? Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that. I don’t see her crying over it–it is her own choice if she plays more than she works. More power to her–she’s got her priorities straight. She apparently was paid $10 million for Something Borrowed (which will almost certainly have a sequel). That’s enough to live on for awhile, no?
How about putting her in a chick flick with Jennifer Aniston?
Dumb comment. Just signing people doesn’t make you competitive. Getting them work does.
Not competitive? They are a top talent agency.
See what I’m saying? Your comment was a waste of time.
Thank you.
She’s nothing special as an actress, but neither is Jennifer Aniston or Katherine Heigl. It’s very hard to argue that genuine talent has much to do with most actresses’ careers. Depressing as hell to some, gives hope to others.
The biggest loser is Hudson. Fool. Great, being somewhere where everyone is like you will change things. Everyone knows her. She doesn’t need CAA.
Thank you.
