Comedy Central has handed out a pilot order to Waiting…, a half-hour project based on the 2005 indie comedy of the same name which starred Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris and Justin Long. Written by the film’s writer-director Rob McKittrick, the project follows the young and not so young employees at Shenaniganz restaurant as they gossip, make fun of customers, and avert boredom and adulthood with their antics. Each of the employees projects their own issues into the restaurant as they grapple with sex, booze, and whether they are temporary or permanent fixtures in the restaurant world. McKittrick is executive producing with Thomas Augsberger and Jeff Balis. Waiting… was featured on Comedy Central’s 2010-11 Development slate announced in May.

Comedy Central sounds desperate!
Hmm? Shenaniganz??? I call Shenanigans. Sounds like another Broken Lizard knock off. Great work Comedy Central.
Comedy Central sounds desperate if you ask me. They should just develop a scripted show w/ Tosh. He’s the only star they got!
Wasn’t this tired premise explored in depth by Mike Judge in “Office Space”? Let me guess, the employees all have to wear flair and learn to express themselves.
Could be a brilliant idea. Loved WAITING. A sit-com could be like ALICE meets FREAKS & GEEKS. Having worked at a diner for years, I miss a good diner sit-com. Good luck!
a good choice for a title anyway: comedy central has been “waiting” for a hit for several years now..
Does anyone still remember producer Jeff Balis fondly from his appearances on PROJECT GREENLIGHT? I do. Bring back PROJECT GREENLIGHT, dammit!
Loved this movie – and I always thought it made sense to spinoff into a series.
Rob McKittrick is fucking hysterical. This is a great idea. Well done. I am excited.
Thanks for chiming in Rob!
McKittrick has been tugging at this molded teat since 2005. One-trick pony.
Anyone see the sequel? Yeowch.
Let me see: A bad 2005 movie (Waiting has a 30 percent approval on Rotten Tomatoes … and it Flopped at the Box Office with an anemic $16 million) makes for a great TV show…
Huh?
Ya just gotta love that Hollywood ‘logic’.
Like greasy diner fare, a BAD movie idea doesn’t get better after it has been sitting around for five long years. Viewers could die of food poisoning, being force fed by creative types bent downsizing a big banquet meal into a TV dinner.
Screw you hippy haters. The movie was hysterical. Office Space is a completely different movie. You haters know if Comedy Central does a spinoff you’ll be watching. Grats Rob!
The movie was very funny. I heard the sequel was terrible but didn’t see it.
Not sure how it will translate into a TV show since a lot of the first movie’s humor was extremely raunchy.
Why not just run THREE STOOGES reruns all day and night? I’d watch them and not the forgettable shows on Comedy Central right now! Or bring back RENO 911!
The movie was hilarious and not at all like Office Space. It was truly a comedic look at the restaurant industry from the people on the “inside”. Trust me, the things that go on in restaurants…you only know if you’ve worked in one!
Sounds awesome! I’ve been dying for a show like this to come around again and I just know that McKittrick can make something really special of it! I can hardly wait!
Having been a busboy what seems like an eternity ago,(thank God), I’m in no hurry to be reminded of that life. Cleaning up tables after Barbarian children had their foodfights, all the while mom and dad having that sickening shit-eating grin on their faces, never once telling the little cretens to shape up. Then the adventures in rest room cleanups,- if you get more piss on the floor than in the urinal,-DON’T GO OUT TO EAT. I really hope some of these sick little tidbits are included in this show, maybe restaurants would finally go out of business.
