EXCLUSIVE: Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is expanding her relationship with the Warner Bros TV Group, signing an exclusive multiyear production deal that spans several different divisions of the company. DeGeneres will build up her production company, A Very Good Production, which will be run by former Comedy Central president of original programming and development Lauren Corrao. Under the deal, DeGeneres and her company will develop and produce scripted network shows for Warner Bros TV, cable fare and reality series for Warner Horizon, and syndicated programming for Telepictures Prods., which produces Ellen’s popular daytime talk show. An interesting detail – I hear the pact has pilot commitments from Fox built into it that stem from DeGeneres’ one-season stint on the network’s American Idol and her good relationship with Fox entertainment chairman Peter Rice. I hear that Fox wanted to be in business with DeGeneres and stepped up with the commitments when the network brass heard about her ramping up her production company. Additionally, Warner Bros has a first-look deal with DeGeneres on social media and other digital projects. DeGeneres is a Twitter juggernaut with 5.4 million followers. ”I’m so happy to be expanding my relationship with Warner Bros,” DeGeneres said. “It’s kind of becoming a family affair. My brother works on the lot and fingers crossed, my mother’s up for the role of Charlie Sheen’s love interest on ‘Two and a Half Men.’ So this is really working out.” Telepictures president Hilary Estey McLoughlin called DeGeneres “an incredible partner to Telepictures and Warner Bros. (who) has great taste and producing instincts.” Corrao called her “an inspiration and a pioneer both personally and professionally,” adding, “I feel incredibly lucky to be charged with capturing her brand as a producer and building this company together from the ground up.” I hear Corrao, one of the highest-profile available development executives, was the leading candidate for the job whom DeGeneres and Warner Bros. went after from the get-go.
DeGeneres has had a deal at Telepictures since the 2003 launch of her popular daytime talker The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The show, on which DeGeneres serves as an executive producer, has already been cleared in the vast majority of the country through the 2013-14 season, following the 3-year renewal on the NBC owned-and-operated stations in February. DeGeneres is focusing on producing following a busy last season, in which she served as a judge on Idol in addition to doing her daily talk show. Corrao left Comedy Central at the end of last year to return to producing. During her seven-year stint at the cable network, she shepherded The Sarah Silverman Program, Chappelle’s Show, Drawn Together, Reno 911! and Important Things with Demetri Martin. Before that, she was a producing partner with Peter Tolan, developing and executive producing with him ABC’s The Job, and also worked at Fox as VP comedy and VP alternative & late night.

I can’t wait for the inevitable first TV show to come out of this. “A coming of age comedy about a young girl who realizes she is gay.” C’mon, you know this is coming and fast!
Yeah, how dare they put something original on television, particularly in light of recent events.
you mean how dare hollywood NOT pander to a tiny percentage of the public that happens to be overrepresented in the LA cesspool
news flash men have turned away from TV in droves, you do not get them back with Lifetime: the Series, dingbat
yeah, what we need are more shows about toothless inbred southern white people or vapid LA/NY whores. now THAT’S entertainment.
Any films in the deal? Didn’t know she was involved in those cable shows, particularly Reno911!. I’d like to see a mix of projects since also tends to help newcomers.
Go Ellen. Go Ellen. Go Ellen.
*dancing* It’s your birthday. It’s your birthday.
Gotta say it. Lauren Corrao? Smart, nice, and so damn adorable. Her husband is a lucky dude.
Oh I love Ellen! She’s good in hosting and comedy. Good that she’s expanding his relationship with Warner with her own production.
good for Ellen, just keep her untalented uncreative manager
away from any creative decisions.
Her show is not funny; Ellen slights her famous guests with idiotis 2 min conversation and then plays some moronic game. I would never guest on her show now as it would be a waste of my time; and she assaults people with that not funny but assaulting surprise let me scare you. assault and battery however guests are too afraid to say anything for fear of retaliation by her bullying tactics. And; she makes a big publicity stunt of media attention getting by making a statement about bullying: all of her material as well as most comedians is based on cheap moronic bullying, nothing funny for anyone with a shadow of intelligence on their brain, Ellen has no concept other than exploitation.
@notreally: I am sure Ellen will be absolutely crushed and lose sleep over the fact that you will not be a guest on her show. I’m going to really go out on a limb here and say that the chances of you being invited onto her show are slim and none. Also, not sure English is your native language…..if it is, I’d say your time is better spent boning up on your grammar vs watching Ellen. Oh, and I guess the real question is..WHY ARE YOU WATCHING IF IT’S SO TERRIBLE??
Ellens program has no competing shows at that time. Dr Phil is worse(la channels). She has no content. It’s moronic. no one wants that time slot. It’s kids and moms cooking so it’s perfect u don’t have to watch.
A blog here is not being viewed for composition or writing skills it’s just a fast note for programmers try public opinions before u buy this moronic idiocy and then force feed it to an audience.
Most people I know have stopped watching television at all and have ntflx/intnt only.
Let’s see YOUR BOOK !!!!!!!
ellen, you go girl !!!! you deserve all the best….:)
