Below is the first teaser for the new A&E drama series Breakout Kings, premiering during the season finale of The Glades this Sunday. Breakout Kings was passed over by fox and then beat the odds and found a second life on A&E, which picked it up with a 13-episode order. The show about a team of U.S. marshals and a group of convicts who race against the clock to apprehend escaped prisoners, was created by Prison Break alums Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora, a connection that is played up in the promo. Laz Alonso, Domenick Lombardozzi, Malcolm Goodwin, Jimmi Simpson, Serinda Swan and Brooke Nevin star; Fox21 and Chernin Entertainment produce.

The original version of this pilot was better than Lone Star and Ride Along put together.
I wonder how Paul Scheuring, Zack Estrin, and Karen Usher (among others) feel when they see that this show is from “the producers of Prison Break”?
Righteously and justifiably pissed, would be my guess.
THE producers? How about “from some guys who worked on Prison Break”?
I think the other producers on PB would have no problem with this…
Go Nick and Matt!
I’m not holding Santora and Olmsted primarily or even significantly accountable. (Although surely they had the right to give notes on this ad before it aired. I hope they said something.)
But it IS A&E’s fault. it’s misleading to say THE producers of Prison Break. It’s not even a debatable point. They didn’t create it. Or run the show when it became a hit. They weren’t the ONLY producers at any point in the series. It’s a misleading phrase because that’s what this ad is clearly leading viewers to believe. A minor transgression, but wrong nonetheless. You can bet the A&E marketing department knew exactly what they were doing.
WGA and PGA members get treated to this kind of nonsense all the time. Imagine an ad touting the guy who directed episode 409 of Prison Break as “the director of Prison Break” instead of Bret Ratner. How do you think that would go over?
LOL, if anyone got credited for directing ep 409 of Prison Break, they must be living in an alternate universe. Episode 409 indeed of a show that lasted only a few seasons!
I wonder how Fox feels after they passed on this and went with Lonestar.
Checked IMDB. No one wrote more Priz Break eps than Santora and I think Olmstead ran the show, so clearly they were more than “some guys” on PB. And I sincerely doubt they had any say in how the network chooses to promote the show. And my friend at 20th said PB was a love fest so I’m sure the other producers are just happy for their friends. Not everything is a competition.
You “sincerely doubt they had any say in how the network chooses to promote the show”???
Go check this fact: Showrunners are consulted on marketing, dude. Don’t be naive. They don’t have final say so, but they have a seat at every table. They have a voice in the process. There is no universe in which the showrunners for a new show don’t get to watch the first ad for their series before it airs.
And by the way – saying “nobody wrote more Priz Break eps than Santora” is the kind of true-but-barely statement that irks people. Zack Estrin wrote AS many (17) and neither created the show.
um…I have run 3 shows now ( on network and on premium cable) and have never been consulted on marketing. Oh and one network did pull the “from THE producer” card on my first show, and as much as the other producers loved me, they were rightfully pissed.
Showrunners included in marketing? in the faraway world of ‘Whatshouldbe.’
I know Zack Estrin and know that he is thrilled for the guys. Believe it or not, some people are actually happy when their friends succeed.
First of all, Fact checker is right – Nick wrote more than anyone and Matt ran it. They are both really good guys. And don’t forget, that’s a marketing tool used by the studio and network to market the show – not the guys demanding people use that tagline.
For a first tease, I’m interested. I hope the marketing for this clever.
Nice to see Fox 21 finally having some play with breakout kings, homeland, and appointment of bert salke. I smell success.
Thanks, Bert!
A&E could have put together a snappier promo than this… c’mon, this is gonna be your flagship series.
I don’t think it is the official promo, just a first look. But I do hope the promo has a bit more meat to it.
agreed.
also, why is there a random image of megan fox in it? does she guest star for an episode or is it just a look alike? she isn’t billed on imdb… @ the :08
It’s not Megan Fox. It’s Serinda Swan, who is a prettier version of Fox and a better actress imho.
I saw her in Smallville and that Percy Jackson movie. Based off those two I can agree that she is a better actress than Fox. Oh, and she is hot!
what is the name of your theme song??????
