It is the zeitgeist show at the moment, so it was probably inevitable that politicians would turn to Glee in their campaigns for the November elections. A new ad for Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, which represents a full-court assault on his Republican challenger, Bill Brady, is virtually a carbon copy of That’s What You Missed on Glee recap that airs at the beginning of every episode of the Fox musical dramedy, complete with a handmade version of the show’s logo. Fox’s copyright department is yet to weigh in on the clip, which will be rolled out officially tomorrow, to coincide with the new episode of Glee, but is already going viral on YouTube with more than 42,000 hits.

Wow. If you’re going to rip off pop culture, could you at least use some tighter editing? The A/V club at the local highschool could do a better job.
This is very clever from Quinn. I think it’s eyecatching and made me interested in more.
Darn, I’m sure they were really looking for the editing Oscar nod.
Yes the editing is a bit wonky but the point is clear and delivered.
I glove it.
Awesome! I am from Illinois and I endorse this message!!!
Agreed. This is solid. I think the editing works just fine. Not everyone can have the Hollywood studio production behind them. Well done Quinn.
I’m from Illinois and I like it too.
Tax cuts for the unions but not for corporations! THAT’S the Democrat Way!
Because we all know Democrat Politicians are NEEEEEVEEEER corrupt and ALWAYS pay their taxes, right?
Of course they are, but Republicans aren’t just corrupt… they are EVIL! In Theory being a Republican isn’t a bad thing, in practice it is nothing but the Money Grubbing Religious right party. Be religious on your own time. Don’t legislate from a pew.
Yeah, I’m so glad we got through those last few Republican Presidencies and Senate majorities… I mean, taxes were low enough that businesses could afford to hire (or not lay off) people, and give them access to medical benefits but… it totally sucked when they made abortion illegal, and made it a law that everyone had to go to church on Sunday? Oh wait!
Thankfully with the current Democratic President and Senate majority, gay marriage is now legal in all 50 states, don’t ask/don’t tell is completely repealed, funding for stem cell research has quadrupled, Guantanamo is closed, all of our soldiers have been brought home, there is peace in the middle east, the good ol’ US of A is rocking a massive budget surplus and the unemployment rate, along with discretionary spending has never been lower…. Oh, wait!
I’m a pretty staunch conservative, but I found the ad refreshing and well-done even if it was for the Democrat. At least it wasn’t another of the same old “the other candidate is pure evil” with ominous music and cut outs from the local paper. Something fresh and new, finally, with some humor. Kind of like our local guy, Rep. Hodes (D) claiming to be a “fiscal conservative” (which he absolutely isn’t) and his challenger making an ad laughing about it. A little humor makes it memorable.
Frankly, though. I’ll be glad when November 2 rolls around and the millions in wasted advertising money can stop.
When Democrat politicians actually get a sense of humor, conservatives are in big trouble.
