Lionsgate has just released a new trailer for Rabbit Hole, the adaptation of the acclaimed play which the mini-major acquired after its showing at the Toronto International Film Festival. Lionsgate launched it right into the Oscar race, to take advantage of the strong performances by Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart, playing parents who grieve the loss of their child. The film opens December 17.

Wow.
really like this one. great opening for the trailer imho
This looks fantastic!
Nicole Kidman is BACK!
wow is right. As a parent this almost seems too painful to watch.
John Cameron Mitchell in my opinion is the finest film maker working today. Can’t wait.
…who apparently has gone soft as a marshmallow with this bourgeois treacle?
looks powerful, but honestly, such a shame she can’t move her forehead anymore. not being mean, but it really closes her off as an actress.
But you are being mean.
Her acting in this clip speaks for itself.
Unfortunately, her forehead or her mouth can no longer speak for itself when she acts. And that’s the problem.
Mmm…Kidman looks fantastic in this trailer. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with her forehead/nose/mouth/ears/whatever. All the reviews I’ve read so far say she’s brilliant and Oscar-worthy in this film. You haters need to move on. Stop the nasty, nauseating comments about this woman. Seriously.
Saw this in Toronto. Definitely the most heartfelt and well acted film I’ve seen this year. Kidman’s performance is top notch.
Having known a family who’s been through a similar loss, “God wanted another angel.” was a common response. I think Nicole’s response was spot on. “Why didn’t he just make another angel? After all he is God” The acting—the reactions—the tension—everything was totally believable.
Cruel think to watch if you are a parent. Tough subject, being such and easy target. On another note, I’m a bit surprised at the cast JCM chose here, what with the frozen faces of Nicole Kidman, Sandra Oh, Diane Weist. Pretty much everyone here has THAT face. Might consider changing the title to “Grief or Constipation?”
For the record, that is how God makes angels, not out of nothing, but from us.
Thanks for clearing that up. And for the record, Santa Claus enjoys milk and cookies.
Not according to the Bible. Hint: angels existed before human beings in the Bible.
Comment by The RIGHTEOUS one:

God I love Hollywood!
I am,

Can’t wait. It feels weird to say this about an Oscar winner, but Nicole is the most underrated actress working today. Her box office track record may be spotty, but her work speaks for itself.
Totally seeing this for ONE reason and ONE reason Only! Dianne Wiest!!! I’m in love with her. I wish she was in more movies!
Looks good, but holy shit depressing. Not something I want to see…
Amen to that. I don’t need to pay to find things trying to depress me.
As someone who normally doesn’t comment (unless it’s the odd complaint here and there — which is always easy to do) I had to chime in with others that this does look great.
As a father of a toddler, I don’t know if I have the fortitude to sit through that movie. Maybe when she’s older and starts hating me… But every single moment in that trailer just felt real and poignant. If a trailer makes me tear up, what the hell’s the movie going to do to me?
First of all I can’t believe I’m commenting on a trailer! But I am floored after watching this. I didn’t know Nicole Kidman had such chops. The part where she says “why doesn’t God make another angel” is what floored me. So real, so devastating. I am definitely going to see this when it comes out.
Please, everyone, support this movie. Adult drama needs to be lifted up so it won’t die.
Whew. I don’t know how anyone could watch that trailer without being moved yet it didn’t feel manipulative especially if you’ve ever suffered the loss of a loved one. It was all about the unbelievable facial expressions of Nicole Kidmman, Aaron Eckhart and Dianne Wiest. They didn’t have to say anything. The emotion was painfully evident. I am hungry to feel something at the cineplex again. I’ll be there opening weekend.
Also saw this in Toronto. Nicole’s performance blew me away. Aaron was also at the top of his game. Kudos to all involved.
i’ll be the first one online for this. i’m not the biggest Nic Kidman fan but this trailer wrecked me. so powerful. so real.
You guys do realize this is going to make no money at all, right?
Enjoy it, call it a masterpiece, feel free, you might be right. But this being an industry blog, I feel the need to point that out.
No money.
Zero dollars.
It’ll make it’s budget back in less than two weeks, most likely, and will then make a profit in six months.
Does everything have to make $100 million? Seriously?
Good grief. “Zero dollars”? So NOBODY will EVER see the movie? That’s literally what you’re saying?
What sort of miserable person you must be to write a comment like that.
“You guys do realize this is going to make no money at all, right? ”
Hey Michael..
If it were up to you Nicole would flash her tits , turn into a Hobbit and have a lesbian kiss with Sandra Oh.
You are everything thats wrong with this business. If this movie makes 25 million ( and it probably will make more once Oscar buzz starts in .. ) Everyone will be happy .. Back to Hogwarts with you !!! Disappearum Assholeum !!!!!!
Give me a break. It costs 5 Mil and will receive multiple noms that will allow them to platform in big cities.
It will do fine. Not a ton, but no one loses money on this.
If she wins it’s icing on the cake.
BORING..I just dont buy someone (an actress) like Nicole Kidman who has been relatively sheltered and pensive all of her OWN life being the emotional compass for others..sorry.. I am calling it out..I DONT BELIEVE YOU GIRL!
Jeez. And how is it you know exactly what’s going in Kidman’s life? BFF or just read People?
its simply a matter of opinion…of course a 40 year old woman has gone through stuff and sadly in her case that has been public BUT this is about a family that has LOST THEIR CHILD!!Her choice to do this role was self indulgent and self important–she wants to be nominated for an award and be “accepted” again as a substantial actor after her vanity/shallowness forced her to get so much plastic surgery. Do I think only actors who have been through similar themes in their own lives should act in certain movies?? Not necessarily, and if you are trained thats a different story. However, someone who in my OPINION that is purely using her “imagination” to conjure up emotions on a very serious subject IS VERY DISTRACTING for the audience.
@no:
wow, such an ignorant remark. you think, nicole kidman has not felt any pain in her life because she is a celebrity? than wo sshould play a character like this?
You just don`t believe her because you think she has had a “sheltered” life? wow.
you are clearly a fan so there is no need to disillusion you.
This trailer made me want to set up a tent and wait in line now. And I’m not the biggest Kidman fan, but I can’t wait to see this for all the performances involved. More films like this please!
A heartfelt trailer I have ever seen. Losing a child is the most hurtful and hardest moment a parent could ever handle… it’s not an easy scenario that you lose someone you love and take care of.
