Warner Bros has released a new trailer for the Jaume Collet-Serra-directed Unknown, a paranoid thriller from Dark Castle starring Liam Neeson and January Jones. Warner Bros, which had originally dated the film for January 7th, has grown bullish after watching the completed picture. The studio is moving it to February 18, to take advantage of the long President’s Day weekend:

Looks very slick and nicely done. Collet-Serra is a very talented and underrated director. Somebody give this man a big blockbuster movie, please. It would make a lot of sense, not to mention dollars.
Yawn. Another failure for Joel Silver.
It’s no “Battleship”, but I’ll see it.
Looks like Neeson is playing Bryan Mills character from ‘Taken’. He’s back in Europe and this time they took his identity! Watch out he has some very particular set of skills.
From the “talented” director of “House of Wax”, “The Orphan” and “Goal 2:Living the Dream”…the cast changes but the quality stays the same…
There was another movie called ‘Unknown’ in 2006.
Looks great!!!!!! Liam can kick some ass!
Looks like an interesting idea. I’ll definitely add it to my Netflix list (since I refuse to pay $12 here in NYC unless it’s a huge, big-screen movie.)
I nearly choked, though, when I saw 32-year-old January Jones playing 58-year-old Liam Neeson’s wife. It’s outrageous how the filmmaking powers-that-be continue to perpetuate the lie that women in their 40′s and 50′s are unattractive, undesirable and useless.
I can’t believe how much of the narrative this trailer gives away… the first 90 minutes of the movie are toast… we know he’s not really crazy, or paranoid. that the people who have taken his place are in on the conspiracy… etc. unbelievable.
agreed! the trailer killed the movie for me
Looks rockin’ to me!
It’s Bourne meets Dr. David Kimble. Whatever.
Read the latest version of the script right before the shoot. Tightly wound and packed. If it’s TAKEN Redux, then I’ll take it. More heart and cleverness to me. And it’s in Liam’s wheelhouse. Let it roll.
Original Joe,
It’s Dr. Richard Kimble.
But you’re right. Whatever. It looks so utterly, utterly.
Liam has a real Jack Ryan Tom Clancy feel to him. I do enjoy the foreigner action star aspect.
Actually looks like a rip-off of “Frantic,” right down to Diane Kruger as Emmanuelle Seigner (except Harrison Ford had an age-appropriate wife).
And wow, the trend towards trailers becoming Cliff Notes versions of the movie needs to stop. I mean, there’s no reason to show up in the theater for anything other than the last 20 minutes.
Also, thriller writers need to stop using amnesia (and identical twins) as devices to drive their plots. The “I can’t remember who I am!” and “What do they want with me!” scenes are so tiresome, as are scenes with wise old characters saying cryptic things like “What would they want from you?”
But hey, at least it’s not “Slinky: The Movie” or “Battleship,” looks like it’s made for adults. I’ll probably see it for that reason alone.
Looks terrific! Tight, Hitchcockian. Dark Castle could use a hit.
Just because it’s a thriller doesn’t mean it’s Hitchcockian. Hitchcock didn’t move the camera like that. He didn’t light like that. He didn’t have his composing done like that. He didn’t edit like that.
Chiaroscuro lighting and a main character who’s stuck, confused and in a mystery bubble doesn’t mean its Hitchcockian. It’s more Twilight Zone that Hitchcockian.
There you go… now you’ve been to film school.
That’ll be 30K please.
Technique and style-wise, no, Hitchock wasn’t a director working in 2010 and visually his films may look different.
But story and character-wise, this is textbook Hitchcock. Go see “39 Steps” and “North by Northwest” and “The Wrong Man” and about a dozen other movies that mine this exact territory.
@ugh: Wow, if that’s what you learned in film school, you should ask for your $30k back. Dope.
Thank you for posting a YouTube link for the mobile site. Most of the time I can’t see the trailers.
I can’t remember the last time seeing Frank Langella in a trailer didn’t mean a conspiracy was about to unfold around our hero. The guy should be appointed the CIA’s official Hollywood actor already.
Looks like old fashioned, escapist fun.
Just makes me fall more and more in love with Liam Neeson.
So, original title of this was “Unknown White Male.” Maybe not a killer title, but is a little more suggestive and is WAY more appropriate for this movie.
“Unknown” is so vague it’s meaningless…ssssooo this movie is about someone not knowing something? Like every single other conspiracy thriller ever made?
Shorter is not always better, Hollywood marketing geniuses…
If its better than Taken, im game to go see it
Love Liam Neeson. He automatically gives quality to anything. I hope this movie does well – he deserves it. The movie’s got a good look to it, even though the story seems familiar.
Looks slick and dark. They really gave January Jones the full on Grace Kelly treatment…the hair, the makeup, the wardrobe, the closeups.
“Bourne Identity” meets “Frantic” and “Taken”. Got it!
Liam’s a spy, the Dr. is his “cover-ID”, (which he believes is his real identity now, post-amnesia) JJ is not his wife but his team-mate/partner and they’re trying to infiltrate/steal/destroy whatever. Their bosses abandoned and replaced him with another agent (the “new” husband) after his “accident” and now all he’s doing is blowing the scheme by investigating the cover-up. But he uncovers the truth, recovers his memory and defeats the bad guys in the end while rescuing the girl. I just saved you $12.
