The first video for Tron:Legacy was issued today and it gives the sense of visual effects and scale that was in the 20 minutes of footage that the studio recently previewed in NY and LA. The song is “Derezzed” by Daft Punk, which scored the film. The Joseph Kosinski-directed pic will be released December 17th.

this looks so awesome. I cannot WAIT to see this movie.
The film looks great. The music sucks. Boring and dated.
HOT trailer? More like irritating.
For me, this is the first piece of TRON marketing that has worked…but it works really, really well.
Yeah let’s be honest… the whole ‘Daft Punk is gonna rock this movie thing’ just isn’t the case.
This movie has crazy buzz online on the fanboy sites, it will be interesting if that buzz translate to the casual movie-goer though.
No it hasn’t, at least not on film sites that aren’t dedicated to Tron.
Yeah, it an awesome video can’t wait to see this movie too! The video was so inviting you can easily foresee it will do well when it shown.
Daft Punk was an excellent choice, the music couldn’t have been better IMO. I too can see this movie raking in the $. Is that Tron preview over and if so if anyone has seen it what is the take on it?
It’s as if you guys don’t realize this could rival Inception at the box office.
Those of us who actually are attuned with reality are well aware, in fact, expecting it to PWN Inception. In every way.
Didn’t work for me..especially the music. Felt a decade late.
Not sure if I’ll check it out.
stick to sundance, kid.
haha… dead on.
Seen it. It’s epic.
Film looks as incoherent as the original, which nobody saw in the 80′s…
And you can be damn well sure the hipsters aren’t gonna turn out like everyone is hoping they will. Kickass Part 2
Burn E. Burn and the Get Burn Crew
sundancekid i’m with you 100%. this music is very 1997. daft punk are not hip anymore. and that whole LA techno rave scene thing is over. why are studios still hiring jason bentley to pick music for their films? nobody in flyover country cares about kcrw.
i think a regular score like avatar had would’ve been more interesting.
and the rule of thumb is, if a studio is pushing the soundtrack there must be something wrong with the film. i really like jeff bridges and i hope this is successful because he really deserves it. all those years he had to stand behind beau bridges before anyone really finally noticed him.
i personally am looking forward to seeing Tron. but one has to wonder.
the LA rave scene is dead? have you been to any raves recently?
Not a big fan of remakes but… this might see good… visually. Let’s hope the story it’s weak, but I’m guessing it will be.
Looked like warmed-over Matrix: Revolutions to me.
Really just looks like hyper real version of the original Tron. All these scenes are from the original. However please stop with the music, it’s not as cool as Trent’s music from even “Social Network”. And the director is still suspect in my book, he’s no Fincher, Gore or Nolen. – 200-mil buys you allot of toys and employs hundreds of great talented kids at ILM or DD or wherever the FX where done, just not sure yet, this isn’t “Inception” as far as story goes! But I WILL go check it out it will be a fun flick, the marketing is cool, it’s going to make a killing.
Meh. Looks like all style no substance. It sure won’t come ANYWHERE near the original, which was a FEAT looking at the technology available in 1982.
Will I watch it? You betcha. But I’m not expecting a masterpiece (but really, do any of us ever?)
I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!! IT LOOKS INCREDIBLE!
Wow. Disney must be shit scared. With this trailer, they certainly appear desperate. It looks terribly uninspired and bland–like a remake of Fast and the Furious part 3. Only more dull.
The glass is half Empty Carney.
That music is annoying. What is it? Jonas Brothers or some other teenybopper top forty kids music? Sure sounds like it. We can only hope it’s just something they tossed on this trailer in an attempt to lure in unsuspecting children.
Scott, it’s Daft Punk. It’s written in the trailer. In the beginning. And at the end. In big bold letters. It’s the only chyron on the screen. But you strike me as the type that will ask “Who’s Daft Punk?” in which case… yeah, nevermind.
This kid look like Jeremy Sisto version 2 or am I seeing things?
From the trailer that showed nothing, it looked cool. But if you look closely at the action shots in this, they seem fairly lame, not kinetic at all. If you’re gonna be stuck inside an 80′s video game all movie long, then the 3D action better be mindblowing. This doesn’t look like it.
Only Daft Punk could create the soundtrack for this movie. I’m looking forward to this very much.
First, I cannot believe how hard the new Disney administration run by Sean Bailey and Rich Ross are trying to re-define and ruin the Disney brand. They are working so hard to convert Disney from a Mom safe, values oriented studio to a Teen Boy company that they will find themselves having lost both.
Second, it appears that Disney is afraid to put out a real story trailer. Everything is about style and attitude. They must have a real problem on their hands if they keep refusing to show any real performance, characters, or plot. Instead they keep opting to sell this like a 1980s Erasure video.
I was about to write the same thing. I haven’t seen a DRIP of story in any of these marketing materials. Whatsa matter, Disney? Spent 99% of the cash on FX?
The original “Tron” wasn”t much better than Disney’s other debacle, “The Black Hole.” Both were pretty bland sci-fi/fantasy films. I enjoyed them as a kid, but I’m all grown up now and CGI-driven films are starting to bore me. Poor attention to story and character with reliance on CGI effects leaves me cold.
Forget 12 year olds. This is going to be HUUUUUUUUGE amongst the 25 and over demo. I feel like this is an actual blockbuster made specifically for me. I can’t wait, I’m really pumped, even if the Jeff Bridges Clu digital clone looks fake, I’m there opening night.
In other words, a film for the 12 and under crowd.
the film hasn’t screened yet. the sneak screenings are tomorrow night.
Daft Punk outdated are you kidding me, all the top hits are techno dance songs these days. Daft Punk was a brilliant choice for this film.
But the shots are nothing new seen all of them before. Show us some more Disney stop holding out on us.
Just loop this video for 2 hours and I think you’ll get the idea of what this movie will be. The music will be more than annoying 30 minutes in and the glow in the dark trim on the outfits are better left to The Blue Man Group! Don’t get me wrong, I would like this to be good but I can’t help to think its a headache in the making!
This looks really good. Disney knows their demographic. They got Alice in Wonderland to over a billion dollars by marketing to the ADD crowd. Tron has all the right ingredients to be a big hit.
