John Leguizamo, who launched his career writing and performing one-man stage shows, has transferred that voice to the big screen. Leguizamo just wrapped Fugly!, a comedy he wrote and stars in, along with Rahda Mitchell, Rosie Perez, Ioan Gruffudd, Ally Sheedy and Griffin Dunne. Leguizamo plays a New York comedian struggling to make the right choices in his pursuit of love and happiness. A near-death experience forces him to choose between the wife he no longer loves and the college crush he regrets losing. Alfredo De Villa directed the independently-financed film, which Leguizamo produced with Laura Knight and Danny Bigel. The film features animation created by Bill Plympton.

Danny Bigel, pound for pound, is one of the best producers working in the business today. The guy just knows his way around the process like only the top one percent of filmmakers. On top of which, he’s a straight shooter. Good luck finding that combo many places in this town.
I knew Danny when he worked with Mailer and he was a class act then as well.

i am so proud of John Leguizamo. He is such a legend and he is my future idle. I hold my hands out to him. What a great actor and comedian. I’m looking forward to seeing some of his future plays and films as he is just so amazing. He goes beyond fantastic. Well done John nice work!!

John Leguizamo is a whiny girl. He has always annoyed me with his bitter, anger man attitude. And I’m from Queens too!!! I wish he’d retire on some far away and unknown island so I don’t have to hear his voice!
Alfredo DeVilla is a great director. NOTHING LIKE THE HOLIDAYS was very well done and he totally gets it.
i also liek nothing like the holidays i think that john leguizamo was the bst actor in that and i also think he is funny. Also his shows are ama and i hope to meet him. Have u ever meet him. I wish him all the best of luck

John L really is a self made auteur and
is beyond gifted. Why he allows himself
to be bullied by the old vicious nightmare called Rosie Perez is incomprehensible — she started
out as a slasher and still is- that’s why she can’t get arrested in LA anymore.
Are these people nuts? Leguizamo a legend? Nothing Like The Holidays well done? Yeah, as a turkey! Latinos are seriously underrepresented in Hollywood BECAUSE of turds like NLTH!
And I’m sorry, as much as I would like for a Latino film to breakthrough, Fugly! just doesn’t give me much hope.
