Both Joy Behar and Bill O’Reilly have primetime talk shows and used them last night to comment on the heated exchange during O’Reilly’s visit to The View yesterday that resulted in co-hosts Behar and Whoopi Goldberg walking off the stage. Behar stayed on a war path, saying that O’Reilly “had a real pinhead moment” and attacking his position on the Ground Zero mosque in an interview with Jesse Ventura on her eponymous HLN show. Meanwhile, O’Reilly was surprisingly subdued on Fox News’ O’Reilly Factor, playing a long clip from The View followed by a short statement that ended with “I loved that exposition today. Didn’t you?” There will be more dissection of the incident on Monday’s edition of The View, ABC just announced. Why, this couldn’t be a ratings ploy, could it? (Today’s edition of the chat show was pre-taped):
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

I’m probably out of place making a comment without watching the videos, but I feel the women should never have given up the floor on their own show and left him on camera. They should have kicked him off the show instead.
They should have kicked him off instead of shouting him down and storming off?
Both do not seem to be very LIBERAL and TOLERANT acts…
Nice to see liberals tolerant of opposing viewpoints. Stalin would be so proud of you.
I find this comment surprisingly unprofessional and immature! Just as it was for the actions and comments made by Whoopi & Joy.
As Barbara Walters pointed out, the show “is” called “The View”.
Intelligent, self-respectful men & women should be able to come onto any of the Talk Shows, and be able to have a discussion & present their “Views”, without “throwing a childish fit”… and leaving the set.
Anyone that defends & supports their actions only shows an ignorance of common courtesy. Both of these Ladies “should” be embarrassed… but it seems they are not that classy.
The view is a joke. It is the most liberal show on tv. Anytime
someone has a different view than joy, barbara, or whoopie they
verbally get attacked. Why can’t they have a discussion without
getting on the defense. joy is the worse. She hates anything good
about America. She hates Christians, Sarah Palin, Sarah Palins daughter, prayer in schools, good old fashion values, anything
good, pure, decent, families. She attacks anything good in America
everyday. It’s alwright if she attacks Christians but don’t dare
say anything about the Moslems. I’m and so sick of her and that
show.
If you can’t show any sign of intelligence in your thoughts at least try to show it in the way you write.
please please learn how to use spell check.
Joy and Whoopi are so unprofessional. You don’t walk out on an invited guest, ever. And for the one poster to suggest they kick Bill off the stage. Why? Because he has a different View then thiers and yours? Please. As he stated, he is with the majority of Americans on this particular subject.
Instead of walking off… take out an emery board and do your nails… or whip out the cell phone and make a call. Play it up, show the audience what a bore the other person is being…
These nitwits handed Papa Bear all the power when they waddled off stage. Amateurs.
Here’s the thing. Even if Bill is correct about his 70% polling statistic, it’s still a disingenuous fact to cite in support of his argument, given that so many of the people being polled on this have been shown to be misinformed about the issue (most importantly about the actual proximity of the “Ground Zero Mosque” to Ground Zero).
Yes, all those poor, dumb people in the US (especially in the Midwest and South and rural areas) who are so stupid they can’t think for themselves. Thank goodness there are elites like yourself who can “educate” them on how they should think. Thank goodness there are 30% of those polled who are smart enough to know what is best for the rest of us.
I mean, it is the rights of Muslims to build wherever they want. Just like it would be the rights of say, the KKK to build a KKK Museum that close to where MLK was murdered in Memphis. Sure, it’s their right, and it has been more than 30 years ago, so the people should be over it by now, but that should not be built either. But I’m “sure” you’d stand up for their rights also.
This is about the girls walking out on a guest because he has a different view. The debate on the ground zero mosque and other hot topics will go on. They were wrong and childish. I personally don’t know how peeps can watch them. Bill whether you agree with him or not has a professional and well put together show.
Religious views, like sexual orientation views, should not be put up to a popular vote.
The truth is ground-zero is the perfect place for Muslims to place a mosque. It is of historical importance to build a mosque on the bones of their enemies. Read up on the history of this culture. A real eye-opener for certain.
“unprofessional”?!
you obviously don’t know what profession they are in. it’s a daytime talk show. the competition is people taking paternity tests and battling in small claims court. what was unprofessional was that they didn’t throw a pie or a glass of water at him.
joy behar is a complete joke. she’s not funny and seems like a mostly unlikable person. worse than her is ‘the view.’ tell me how anyone – anyone! – could spend 10 seconds watching such garbage. joy and whoopi should have walked off and never returned. that would be a wise move.
Some of these comments blow my mind.
1. The proposed cultural center is not just a mosque. It is also not ON the former World Trade Center site, it is two blocks away. The previous incarnation of Park51? A Burlington Coat Factory. I don’t believe there are bones of any enemies there but I guess you never know.
2. Comparing Islam to the KKK… I mean, do I even need to go on about that one?
As for The View brouhaha. Behar, Goldberg and O’Reilly should have been instant BFFs. They’re all idiots.
While the Ground Zero mosque (or as you call it “Cultural Center” in order to dimish what it stands for) is not directly on the Ground Zero site, it it in very close proximity to the area. Too close. While I’ll say again that the Muslims have every right to build there, it is in poor taste and lacks compassion to those of all faiths (or lack of faith) that lost their lives there.
My example of the KKK was just that, an example. I wasn’t comparing ALL Muslims to the KKK. I guess to dumb it down for you, if Timothy McVeigh had attacked the Murrah building in Oklahoma City in the name of Catholicism, it would be in very poor taste to build a Catholic church (and Cultural Center) in that close proximity also. It would be their right, but I would be just as appalled.
mp: Part of one of the planes struck the former Burlington Coat Factory building, which MADE IT part of Ground Zero. There is ALREADY a mosque about four blocks away, so pray tell all us mere peons and mortals just why there needs to be another one that close. The area is not crawling with Muslims who are being denied their right to religious freedom because they have no place to worship. Learn some facts once in a while!
The Tea Party views expressed in some of these comments are as stupid as they are elsewhere. Second, Fox News has poisoned discourse in the U.S. Bill O’Reilly’s views on the Ground Zero mosque reflect a lot of scary opinions in the U.S. His show would not garner the ratings it does if there were not similar sentiments held by so many people. As I write this from London, a highly diverse and incredibly vibrant place, I find all of this quite depressing.
BUT, if producers invite a guest onto a TV chat show, and you are paid as a host of that show, you don’t walk off the set because you don’t agree with that guest’s repugnant views. O’Reilly’s views should have been no surprise. Perhaps the two hosts that stormed off the set might have been more effective if they had reminded O’Reilly that a strip club, New York Dolls, lies no further from Ground Zero than the proposed Mosque. Of course, we don’t hear the Tea Party folks complain about that. This “hallowed ground” is part of a living, breathing big city, and we have freedom of religion and expression guaranteed by the Constitution. Not all Muslims are terrorists, and not all terrorists in history have been Muslims. The very simple fact is those that propose to build that masque have the legal right to do it, so get over it.
The problem with the Right Wing in the U.S is that they only like to refer to the Constitution when it is convenient…like when they carry a sidearm to an Obama rally.
I didn’t realize a bunch of strippers had flown two planes into NYC skyscrapers in the name of stripperhood. When did that happen?
Nice to be marginalized by an arrogant left-wing elite. And you think that you’ve persuaded anybody with your taunts? No sale non-believer. You’re just another example as to why the country is so divided. Insults get you nowhere.
If “facts” are “scary” … and you can’t comprehend them intelligently… I can certainly understand why an individual would call themselves a “non-believer”.
I “believe” that there would be more positive, polite, bi-partisanship types of conversations… if “We the People” could be more tolerant for our Fellow Beings through a “better understanding” of them.
Snide, judgmental remarks only alienates… & doesn’t promote intelligent exchanges of “viewpoints”.
non-believer: Wait, let me see if I have this straight. Your precious London is “a highly diverse … place,” yet you have no use for “diverse” opinions in the U.S. How libs LOVE to use the word “diverse” until it means a diversity of opinion.
There’s this short film that parodies Fox News and Bill O’Reilly and it’s eerily similar. It won an award for Best Comedy at the Fourth Annual Mosquers.

@DennisDMZ “If there is anything sadder than a walk-out, it is a walk-out where your boss rips into you and you immediately walk back.”
I saw it.If that wasn’t pre-planned, I don’t know what is.
Me thinks the ladies are creating a little buzz to off set the new bitch-fest that’s comming soon, with Sharon Osborne et-al.
it was staged.
it was a pre-planned stunt.
Joy Behar is nothing short of dull and boring, and Whoopi should just stick to acting. I believe the walkoff was planned.
Joy Behar & Whoopi Goldberg are pathetic and embarrassed themselves in front of the nation. They’ve exposed themselves as people who won’t allow other views and beliefs to be expressed. When Bill Maher takes Bill O’Reilly’s side, you know how stupid these two women acted. Barbara Walters should fire them both.
It wasn’t a walkout-walkout.
If you blindfolded me and then turned The View, I would probably think you’d just dumped me off at the park, and into the middle of a flock of panicked squacking geese.
Wow, Joy and Whoopi walked out on their own show and practically handed over the floor to O’Reilly! When you do something like that O’Reilly just might say, “Well, if there is no one here to ask me anymore questions, I’ll just fill in the time talking about Obamacare and tax cuts until our hosts return.” Gotta watch how you conduct your show. I liked them, but they made a bad move.
The nerve of Bill O’Reilly pointing out that the 19 cretins who murdered thousands and shouted Allah Akbar while doing it were muslims.
The only thing funnier is that Whoopi and Joy would be stoned or imprisoned for proclaiming some of their opinions in many muslim countries.
And whomever said that the Muslim Victory Center at Ground Zero (parts of one of the planes landed at the Cordoba ERRRRRR Park51 site) does not contain a mosque are lying. Rauf’s wife even bragged about the wreckage at the site until she was told to shut up. Christopher Hitchens even defended Rauf untill he did a bit more reading then branded him a liar.
I guess the GZ Mosque proponents arent really ‘radical radical’ in the same way that Roman’s crime wsn’t ‘rape rape’.
Exactly my point. They handed their power over to him.
And if I recall correctly, he does the equivalent of kicking people off his show when he disagrees with them. He talks over them and tells them to shut up or am I recalling another talk show host?
Yes, a much more professional move would be to “TURN HIS MIC OFF!”
Yes, silence any dissenting views other than yours. How democratic of you. I guess Stalin was your favorite president, eh Long-term Memory?
Better than flouncing off stage like a 5 year old. Yeesh.
Bill, why would Moderate Muslum confront powerful imaams when politacilly correct elites, and the media pander to them?
