EXCLUSIVE: Julia Ormond is playing Vivien Leigh after Catherine Zeta-Jones dropped out, and Dougray Scott is playing Arthur Miller. Filming starts today in London on the feature, which is shooting for 7 weeks at Pinewood and on location in and around the city. Michelle Williams is cast as Marilyn Monroe alongside Kenneth Branagh (Laurence Oliver), Judi Dench (Dame Sybil Thorndike), Dominic Cooper, Emma Watson and Derek Jacobi with Eddie Redmayne playing Colin Clark, the young assistant on the set of the 1956 film The Prince and the Showgirl who helped the star escape her pressure-cooker Hollywood career for a brief week. Directed by Simon Curtis (BBC TV’s Cranford) and produced by David Parfitt (Shakespeare In Love), the film is based on Clark’s diaries and has been adapted for the screen by Adrian Hodges. Parfitt’s Trademark Films is the production company, while The Weinstein Company is financing and distributing. BBC Films and Lipsync Productions are co-financing the film, which was developed in association with the UK Film Council and BBC Films.

can’t wait for this one to come out.
Wow, this is a strong cast. A power packed group of actors and a good write will win me over any day. History, detail filled pages
and salacious talk make me weak every time. This subject is one that so many of us have heard about for years and want to know more. Of course, will we ever hear the real skinny? Truly can’t wait! Please keep us in the know.
This is an amazing all-star cast but there are too many actresses playing Marilyn Monroe in different projects. Poppy Montgomery in the television mini-series, Blonde, Michelle Williams in My Week with Marilyn, Naomi Watts in the forthcoming film, Blonde, Angelina Jolie was rumoured in The Life and Opinions of Maf the Dog, and of His Friend, Marilyn Monroe. I wish only one actress would play her in every project.
Agree! and i wish it was Scarlett J
Eddie Redmayne is brilliant, I can’t wait to see him in this.
omg, emma watson with MICHELLE WILLIAMS. well, these are the only ones i’ve known… i didn’t know about that guy until i googled it. the guy from mama mia? hey, is this an american film or what?
Nope..its a British Film filmed in the UK so mostly Brits in the roles.
Great double feature with My Favorite Year.
The movie is ruined already. Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe???Are you kidding me??? She’s going to ruin the movie…and Dougray Scott, simply put, can not act. Sad choices.
Problem is none of today’s actresses can stand up to Miss Monroe. All the actresses mentioned need to eat a bunch of pizza and ice cream for starters so they can get some curves, although Naomi Watts just had a kid so she may be sufficiently voluptuous. And surely they could have done better than Michelle Williams to headline the project. Get Christina Hendricks!!!!! The only modern actress working today with that classic silhouette.
I absolutely agree with you about the fact that none of today’s actresses can stand up to Marilyn Monroe. She was, and is, one of a kind. Period. Maybe because I’m a woman, but what stands out the most to me about Marilyn is not her just her physical beauty, but her charisma and her amazing ability to captivate her audience. I also liked the fact that she was sexy yet had a sweetness and innocence about her and didn’t seem to be full of herself. There are many physically beautiful actresses out there but none come close to possessing the attributes that made Marilyn Monroe the icon she is.
I like michelle williams, in my opinion, she’s a good actress but…Julia Ormond will be vivien leigh???but do you remember vivien?? she was gorgeous !!Julia has already ruined sabrina..bah! I’m very puzzled

I look more like Marilyn goofing off than her under make up artists and professional photo shoots. Just saying, sheeeesh!
horrific. i don’t even know why this film is being made. i think michelle williams is a good actress, but she doesn’t look right for the part, and marilyn is a legend-most people will walk in expecting to hate it. worse is julia ormond as vivien leigh. 1) i hope this is supposed to be an aged vivien leigh, otherwise she is far too old 2) julia ormond is NOT a good actress. she is competent, barely, pretty enough, but has no special charm or spark that sets her apart. both actresses portrayed in this film are so memorable today because aside from being incredibly talented (and marilyn’s superstardom often causes people to overlook the fact that she was actually a good actress), they had that “x factor” that you just can’t replicate or force. merely pretty and competent actors should not be allowed to portray goddesses, and if no equivalents can be found, such movies don’t even need to be made.
