Funny man Stephen Colbert channeled his idol Bill “Papa Bear” O’Reilly in his faceoff with The View co-hosts today in a segment capped by a “Whoopi Goldberg/Joy Behar” moment, in which Colbert briefly walked off the stage.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Stephen handled it with humor, but he let Whoopie know that she HAD been rude to Bill O!
Dawn understands satire as well as Barbara Walters
Whoopi too.
Will ABC please cancel this ridiculous show…it’s just a bunch of unattractive, cackling women voicing their opionion to try and make a useless point. Funny thing is they can’t stand a man’s point of view and behave childish and walk off their own show …for one long dreadful and painful hour we have to listen to a hypocrite, an old goat (who’s face is pulled too tight)…a big mouth blonde who really doesn’t matter and Joy—she was much funnier when she forgets to sensor herself…but has all together lost her charm. Oh I think I forgot someone..shari something…exactly? Meredith Viera was the only one who had class thank God she had enough sense to leave
it is called spellcheck or maybe you did?
i think colbert is funny but damn dude stop with the shtick once in a while and be yourself.
my bad. he breaks character about 2:10 in. its lovely and refreshing.
If you want to see a great interview of Colbert check out his appearance on Charlie Rose a few years ago. He seems to be a really intelligent and thoughtful guy.
Let’s be honest – Bill O’Reilly is a major tool – but, he did make fools of both Whoppi and Joy. You don’t storm off your own show. Come on ladies – he wanted a reaction and he got one. You got played.
If only Joy had been there so Colbert could shut her up too.
I had no problem with Joy and Whoopie walking off, the problem is that they came back
The problem with Colbert is that he needs republicans in power in order to be funny.
Two angry, crass and bitter women named Joy and Whoopi. Now there’s some effin’ irony for ya.
I worked with Steve once at a fundraising dinner for a social service organization. The guy is warm, bright, caring, and insanely funny. He is also completely devoid of ego. Don’t let this get around.
Someone asked me why I don’t follow women’s basketball. I replied that if I wanted to watch slow women missing point after point, I would watch The View.
Now THAT’S funny!
@Santayana – I once saw him live at a round table, and, yes, he’s brilliant. He comes off as being even funnier and smarter in person than he does on his show. I get the sense that, if I sat around him in real life long enough, I would know the answers to all questions that matter.
If Colbert were a Republican, the Republicans would be grooming him to be a serious candidate for public office in New Jersey or South Carolina. The fact that the Democrats treat the idea of Colbert running for office as a joke, or a nuisance, is a sign of how messed up the Democratic party is.
A Spouse: If Colbert were a Republican, the Republicans would be grooming him to be a serious candidate for public office in New Jersey or South Carolina.
That’s because the Republicans are a collection of morons. The guy is a COMEDIAN. Of course, the Democrats aren’t going to run him as a real candidate. Your kind of rightwing thinking explains the Teabaggers existence.
