Another headache for new CNN topper Ken Jautz: the embattled news cable network’s latest primetime offering Parker Spitzer trailed the competition at 8 PM in its debut last night. That’s the one-hour show on CNN hosted by former New York Democratic governor Eliot Spitzer and political columnist Kathleen Parker. It drew 454,000 viewers, 118,000 of them in the 25-54 demographic, finishing No.4 behind HLN’s Nancy Grace (468,000 total viewers, 149,000 in adults 25-54), MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann (1,225,000, 329,000 in 25-54) and time slot leader, Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor (3,112,000, 722,000 in 25-54). Parker Spitzer also dropped from its anemic 7 PM lead-in John King USA (742,000 total viewers, 101,000 in 25-54. Ironically, Parker Spitzer was down 8% in total viewers and 26% in the demo from the September averages for Rick Sanchez’s Rick’s List, which was filling in at 8 PM.

It is bizarre that CNN would put Spitzer on a news show when it is the type of people that watch news that would be most repelled by him. As NY attorney general, he was known for seeking personal fame by launching high-profile prosecutorial attacks on companies and individuals had just made bad decisions or mistakes with no malicious intent or personal gain (he was trying to get noticed on the same stage that launched Giuliani). Shortly thereafter, he used his ill-begotten fame to become governor of NY, and promptly sullied the office by showing that he was dumb enough, weak enough and hard-up enough to charge a prostitute to his credit card in a state where prostitution is against the law.
Jautz should blame Jon Klein, cancel the show quick, move on. I do hope that Piers Morgan’s show bombs hard. That guy is repellent.

You know, I hate to say this but I was thinking tonight… CNN really should to EVERYTHING they can to keep Larry King for one more year to stop the bleeding. I’m hearing King’s had second thoughts? May not be possible w/ whatever deal that put in place w/ P.M. don’t know if it gives him that timeslot. King is a light interviewer but still a pro and a class act. C’mon CNN, Shawn needs another house. Cough up.

Love it or hate it, the partisan nighttime analysis is giving people what they can’t get from just the straight reporting.
Is this really news? Of course it was going to tank in the ratings. The guy is as unlikeable and has zero appeal. It’s almost as if CNN isn’t even trying anymore and is just content with being last.
Is it too late to order the new boxed set of the one season of “My Mother the Car?” I think Jerry Van Dyke and Ann Southern’s voice coming out of that old car radio had more chemistry than do Parker Stevens and what’s-his-face Spitzer #9, who can’t get used to 1/4 turns and someone else next to him speaking and……..

You can tell parkekr spitzer are the new kids on the block by the way CNN is skimping on the set. Other hosts stroll around massive sets but ParkerSpitzer better not uncross their legs lest they kick a guest in the head. Talk about a small set!
